Creating mp3 ringtones on Nexus S in ICS (4.0.4)

In my house.
My Nexus S (Rogers) just updated to 4.0.4 and suddenly Ringdroid is apparently incompatible now with my phone.

Does anyone know a way to edit mp3s on the Nexus S under ICS that doesn't require using Ringdroid? I've done a search of the forum, and everyone just keeps referring to Ringdroid. :-(

Thanks!

Any MP3 compatible song can be set as a ringtone. If you have a ringtone you already want, just create a folder called "ringtones" off the root folder and then drop the MP3 ringer in there. You can then select it as a ringer. You can also play a song in the music player and select it as a ringtone. No need for any app or software to make a ringtone for you.

I'm not sure if just the "ringtones" folder will work. It might have to be in "media\ringtones" or "media\alarms" or "media\notifications" depending on what you're using the MP3 for.

That applied to earlier versions. With ICS v4.x you can simply have the folder names right off the root folder. I have my ringtones, alarm ringers setup this way right now. I didn't know it worked until I realized the update to ICS created a new folder for me right off the root.

Sorry, Iguess I should have been more clear, i understand that I can use any MP3 and how to put it in those folders, however the point of RingDroid was to be able to edit MP3s _on_ your device to use only portions of an MP3 as a ringtone.

Since RingDroid no longer works on the Nexus S under 4.0.4, I'm looking for an alternative (as opposed to editing the files on my computer and transferring them).

@bfksc: Where in the music player can I set a song as a ringtone? I've checked menus, dropdowns, and long-presses within the music player and see no option to set a song as a ringtone.

Thanks.

Sorry I missed this months ago...but I don't edit on my phone as I like to do so on my PC and then just drag and drop on my phone.

I don't recall saying that you do it from the player, and I don't see that option on my phone. But like I said previously, just drag and drop the MP3, and the phone will find the song and let you set it as a ringtone from the main Settings menu.

Did you find a replacement or updated version of Ringdroid that works? I've since updated to JB v4.1.1 so I don't know if any of this applies.

I plugged my phone into my PC, opened the folder where my music was stored, copied a song, then went into the Ringtones folder under the root and pasted as suggested by bfksc. The song was added to the list of available ringtones.
Yup that's what I do, just drag and drop. I edit a song to the 25 seconds of play that I want as that's roughly the length of ring time on the Rogers network.
