Htc One V

I have not heard from an official source yet, but people think it will cost 200$ or less, which I think is possibly reasonable, considering that it's only a single-core processor phone. It's very similar in specs to the Motorola Triumph (though it could cost more than the Triumph, considering it has sense 4.0 and android ics). I really do hope it comes to virgin mobile, as I am waiting for a good phone to get on prepaid, or at least a better one than my current Optimus V (It's good, but not good enough).

I highly doubt it will be available for $200 in the US, considering it is available now in Europe for ~ $362 USD. It will likely be available for $300 in the U.S. *IF* it ever comes out for Virgin Mobile. People are great with coming up with rumors of VM phones, like the Optimus Black/Marquee, which never made it to VM. More than likely they will just release another weak <1GHz phone and call it new, like the Optimus Slider and HTC Wildfire S. All VM customers want is a 1GHz processor in a phone that's not a piece of crap like the Motorola Triumph!!!! I'm annoyed by them and I don't even have a VM phone! (I have a Galaxy Nexus :p) But my wife has an Optimus V and she thinks it's just a little too slow.

The stock Triumph is a p.o.s. however the Triump h after being flashed with MIUI (and the Black Ice theme) is an incredible Android device. I won't be upgrading anytime soon.

I've heard that, but does it fix the touchscreen issues, GPS lock issues, Battery life issues, and/or signal issues with the phone? Cuz I tried buying this phone twice when I was on VM and it was so crippled by these problems that I had to go back to the Optimus V. They say end of spring for the HTC One V, so I expect it either to not come out, or not be out till the end of this year.

Fixed everything but signal issues. For some reason with the stock kernel on CM7, my GPS picks up much stronger signals. Also does a pretty good job with battery life. Signal strength is a hardware issue, I heard they only put the 1900mhz antenna in there.

I'm pretty sure I know exactly when the HTC One V is coming out now. My wife got a text message that if you are changing smartphones, you have to do so by May 27th this year, otherwise you lose your $25 rate. When they implemented the first rate change for new customers, that was the exact date that the Triumph came out. So the only explanation is that the HTC One V will come out on May 27th! ...it could be some other smartphone though...

Either way, there will be a new VM smartphone on May 27th!

Only new phones that are released after 5/27/12 change your $25 plan. Any phones that were already around before that date will not change it.

Is this verified? I haven't received a text. I still have $25 rate. But if I change phones after May... It goes to $35?

I've seen screenshots of the official link and it says any phones RELEASED AFTER 5/27/12 (i.e. Evo V, HTC One V) then your plan will go up to $35. Any phone you get that was released prior to that date (Triumph, OV, Intercept) will still pay $25.

Yes any phones after May 27th will be required to take on the current plan changes.
There are no exceptions unless you are buying an older model phone (Pre-May 27th).
Any of the new ones on the line up will cause the plan change.

I can't officially say we'll get it but I can tell you that my regional rep gave me the "Look" after I indicated I knew about that phone.

To me that pretty much confirmed it. =P

Ohhh, insider information....

I know when the phone was announced they said it would be on Virgin Mobile, but did not indicate if it was VMUSA or not.

I agree, I have MIUI on mine as well. I will only be upgrading should they provide me with a 4G device with better specs than the Triumph.
I'm in a good area for WiMAX so I know I'll be making the best use of that network. =]

The only things I've heard are that they are likely to remove the "World phone" feature and also that there might be a "Surcharge" for 4G usage.

I'm thinking this surcharge may just be tied into the current plan changes, That would explain why there is no "Grandfathering" on the newer devices (After May 27th).

I can't see Virgin Mobile not releasing phones for months, WiMAX being given to the MVNO's, and the new plan implements if something big like this wasn't coming soon...

I agree, There just has only been speculation without any sort of official announcement (or inside info ;)). Looks pretty likely to me.
