Help Random freezing & rebooting...STILL!!!

After factory resets, multiple memory wipes, numerous updates and following countless suggestions (short of modding/rooting), these problems still exist!!!

I don't know what to do anymore!!! I'm pretty much at the point of replacing my Warp (which I've only had since early December) :( with the LG Marquee or even waiting for the now-rumored HTC EVO Design 4G for Boost (check out articles below).

Interesting article. Looks like we are getting 4g. Although I have heard sprint's 4g is not very good.. ...yet ? Not sure though, just what I hear . If it is good, I will wait hit the right phone, pricing, etc. My warp and 3g are just fine. Thanks for the info. P. S . I NOT VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE EVO ANYWAY.

Whether it's 4g or 3g, it really doesn't matter at this point to me. I am more than likely going take a shot in the dark at the EVO w/ICS (if or when it ends up on Boost), because I don't believe it will be any worse than my Warp. I am completely fed up with these major issues of my current phone!!

I agree. Just got a replacement warp ftom zte - hope it keeps working. I think boost figures smartphone users will stay with them tor the price, so why should they care if we switch phones?

sorry to hear about your issues, get in touch with zte, don't take no for an answer and make them take your phone back to repair it... they will replace it... they changed the hardware in january, and my guess is a major reason they did that was to address the issues found on many of the first warps... I have one of the first ones and haven't had any real issues since the b08c update that came out in december but I know a lot of people have and I think it's mostly hardware/faulty parts. zte seems to be good about replacing phones that have issues so I would give that a try, what can it possibly hurt if you are having so much trouble?

just my two cents, or move to another phone, but I don't love the other boost phone options, this is a great phone when it's working.

New hardware to go with the new software? Maybe I should check my phone's build date :(

As it is I'm noticing two different sort of freezes.

  1. Constant, multiple lags when doing anything even vaguely graphics-intensive: e.g. playing Cut the Rope, or watching a video. The graphics simply stop, and either continue where they were within a split-second, or carry on where the audio was going (in case of a movie).
  2. A slow, predictable freeze-down. Graphics still APPEAR to be moving at this point (charging animations still work, etc) but suddenly I cannot touch the screen, get any capacitive buttons to work, etc. The screen then dims, turns off, and the phone reboots.

I'm getting this same type of problems...STILL like everyone else and I am just tired of starting over again by wiping and reloading, yes I have TB but its a pain, I know this issue has been touched on somewhere but I am wondering if the SD card has anything to do with it. I have a class 2 8gb in mine, that I bought before i had this phone so i really had no idea about classes or anything like that. Just ordered and received a 16gb class 10 that I want to use and will get that working or whatever but I could have sworn I read somewhere that its better to have apps and things on the phones internal memory versus the sd card because the phone works harder and lags and will more than likely reboot when trying to open apps from the sd card...so then I thought that sounds good but who knows, so I also read that a better class sd card makes all the difference just in general whether you load apps to it or not so I am wondering has anyone with the constant reboots tried different sd cards and/or have most apps on the sd or internal

I'm so at a lost with this phone it makes me sad because no matter what I try and try and try but the frustration is literally killing me...thanks for listening to me vent but i am really interested in the sd card thing and whether anyone has tested it sort of

So ZTE claimed it was only to change LCD manufacturers during that shortage in jan/Feb... but I'm sure there were software issues addressed but masked by the screen replacement company. To those having these issues... you have done no modding what so ever? removal/freezing of apps... nothing? I feel like there must be something else behind it.. but then again my first warp had a defective headset jack and had to be replaced. Also... If your within 30 days... get a replacement at the store instead of through ZTE. While ZTE repairs your phone or gathers a refurbished one to send you back... you will be without a phone (If you call boost though, they will credit your account for every day you are waiting for replacement) so at least you don't pay for day's you can't use the phone... anyway good luck keep us posted.

Did you modify the sd card cache? Or format it via any 3rd party software?

No not at all I must say I did not have this many reboots until after the last software update and adding the cwm to get back rooted.. .before I was just rooted and it worked better but of course because of the update the only way to deeply was use the cwm I'm thinking I may do a wipe not use cwm and forget root but that defeats me paying for TB because I won't be able to use it but in the past before I was rooted I used my backup pro I just don't want to restore to stock not root and have same issues but I will probably try it anyway

Wish I could take it back bought it online in Dec from boost and I gave my prevail away I cant be without a phone no amount of time so I will wipe today and see what happens and post results

as far as I know there isn't an article documenting the hardware change, it's a fact that hroark and other dev type guys have found in working on the kernel source code, read up on hroark's kernel thread for proof. I don't think it's something ZTE is advertising or admitting.

It's just speculation, but having been around since day one on this forum for the zte warp, I know that the hardware/software was sketchy and buggy at best from the beginning so I can only assume that the hardware change was either a cost savings effort and or an attempt to correct some of the force close issues... I know the software was adjusted about the same time and have to assume it was put out to account for the hardware change and to try to minimize the force closes...

in my case 90% of my force closes have been fixed by the b08c update, so that rules out hardware in my case as the root cause of the majority of the reboots, the other 10% of the reboots that still remain (like once a week maybe) are probably related to my phone being one of the first ones on the old hardware and also I believe that the software still has something in it that causes the issue.

I think we might see even more stability after the kernel gets fixed/tweaked soon by hroark and shin, but some of you just got unlucky with bad hardware, send it back for a replacement is my best answer.

I have never experienced an issue related to CWM or root that wasn't caused by user error, those two things aren't going to be the reason for reboots.

Wimax will never compete with LTE... the only reason boost and virgin mobile are getting Wimax is because sprint is going to roll out their LTE network in the near future

Sent from my N860 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5

I confirmed with our local Sprint store that we DO NOT have WiMax available in our area and until they expand or buy another network, which they have no ideas when...this new 4g WiMax is a waste. From what they were telling me WiMax is scarce throught the U.S. and LTE that they are rolling out will even be longer. :( I am satisfied with my 3g, although my sister is upgrading with Verizon to 4g. If it is that HOT, I may be switching to her family plan ? She is grandfathered in with no data limits. Which is the only reason I don't really wanna switch, we are unlimited, I am quite sure that Verizon will be data capping ALL their customers evetually. Usually all grandfathered products last about 6 to 12 months the BOOM, you get what everyone else has and to d*mn bad. Oh well, we shall see. P.S. I live in a pretty large city in Florida, only about 20 miles from Tampa, fl and no 4 G ????
