Previously HTC One X was not having this issue when connect to my notebook. I am only having this issue these a few days back.

I have updated my HTC One X Software number to 1.28.707.10
My Notebook running on Window Professional 7 SP 1 and HTC Sync Version 3.2.10 is installed.

Description of the Problems:-
When I connect the phone to the my notebook using the USB cable. NO notification icon ( ) appears in the status bar. the phone will not recognize as storage and it is just normal charging, and i have try with a few different Micro USB cable but it doesn't work.

I have also default in the Connect to PC:
Default Connection Type = Disk drive
Ask Me = Tick

Try pressing the power button for approx 10 seconds this works like a battery pull, see if your phone will work how it should after that.

YES, It work, you save my day. Thank you anoniemouse very much for your Solution.

Let me explain in details the resolution for my problem:-

1.) Connect my HTC One X with my notebook with Micro USB Cable, as usual it will go into Charging mode.
2.) As suggested by anoniemouse, I am pressing the power button for approx 10 seconds, my HTC one X go into reboot.
3.) At the same time my notebook detected new device and the HTC driver being install and ready for used.
4.) After reboot my HTC One X, the Notification bar appear and at the same time i saw an error report was prompt and waiting send to HTC.
5.) I select Disk Drive and it work, my notebook now can access my HTC One X as storage.

I did check on HTC Official web on this issue but HTC advise to do a Factory Reset that i am not agreed with.

Once again thank you very much to anoniemouse, you soulution will help many others HTC One X users in future for this issue.

Hey chaps,

I'm having the same problem and can't fix it.

I've had the htc for about a week now and everything was running beautifully. But i can't connect to PC in anyway. The 'Connect to PC' tab in my settings is also completely unresponsive.

I've tried rebooting it and also the USB debugging.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

hi..my htc one x doesn't connect with my notebook...I have rebooted my cellphone couple of times and i have debugged USB ..my cell phone notification shows a connection..but it's not connected with my notebook...i even tried with my desktop but doesn't work...any help would be appreciated thank you.

Have you installed the HTC sync manager application? When I tried to hook my phone up to my Windows PC, it wouldn't recognize the phone until after I had installed the HTC sync manager app, leading me to believe that when you install the application, it gives you the drivers to recognize the phone.

You can get it here:HTC Sync Manager

Hi asym, what happens exactly, does your PC register a connection (does it make a sound when you plug the phone in)? If you pull the notification bar down when the phone is connected, are you given an option to select Disk Drive/Mass Storage?

Have you tried another cable?

ya i have tried with another cable also still not working...i have also found out another problem while plugging with my notebook..like after i choose a connection type, though it does not get connected with the computer, but when i open the gallery or songs file...it shows "your content is unavailable bcoz ur phone is being used as USB storage. Disconnect USB to access your content". And when i disconnect it, it still displays the same message...then i need to restart my phone....and after restarting my phone when i again plug in the cable it, directly goes to charging mode with out displaying the option of connection type..So, if i want that option appear than in need to reboot my phone again...

Guys, I installed ARHD17 a few days back but I have been having a bit of a similar problem that the OP is facing, and it is that I do not even have the "Connect to PC" setting and when I plug the device into my computer, the PC reads it as a Media Player while the Mac doesn't read it at all. What can I do? I have faced this problem with a couple of ROMs that are Jelly Bean-based, actually, where as ICS ones have the Connect to PC function working perfectly.
