EVO LTE vs. Galaxy Nexus..... differences?

Hey all, currently I am looking at the EVO LTE as my next device. But last night, I saw the Galaxy Nexus in a Sprint add at the top of this websites home page. It looks pretty nice. My questions are: What is a pure Google experience? And what are the main differences between the two phones.
Acorrding to the Sprint ad, they are offering $50, to be deposited in your Google wallet, when you activate Google wallet.

Thoughts?

Pure Google experience means you get the stock ICS without a skin like HTC's Sense. I think it also means you are first for any Android OS upgrades, while other manufacturers take a bit longer to make an update available.

As for differences between the phones I'd say the camera on the Evo LTE and the better processor. I like that the Evo LTE's 3 buttons on the phone rather than on the display like Galaxy Nexus.
Oh and I think Sprint might also offer $50 with the Evo LTE to promote using Google Wallet in general with their NFC phones.. At least I hope they do

To chime in on terrestrialfx convo, If you don't care about hardware, the LTEvo has a dedicated camera button and a kickstasnd! LTEvo v.s. GNexus respectively...

....In a nutshell, this are some of the factors people consider when purchasing a phone. Like terrestrialfx said you will be the first person when a update is released with the GNexus. Both have NFC. GNexus is pure Android and LTEvo has Sense 4.0 overlay (preference, which I like). If you want pure Google then the GNexus is for you! If your a spec person who have no biases, then the LTEvo is for you! If you are a combination person, you see what suits/benefits you the most and decide!:thumb:

Thank you! The EVO LTE is my first choice, so far. The GNex looks like a pretty cool phone too. But after reading the above posts, it lags behind in specs, and pure Google is nothing more than quicker updates. I guess , unless MoPho 2 is announced soon, or something one-ups the EVO LTE (I doubt it) I will be acquiring EL TEVO.

I know there is 64gig MicroSD cards available, but no official word if those will work in LTEVO's yet!
Expandable memory is important for me cause I like having a number of diffrent movies and TV series on my phone.

Also, the Galaxy Nexus has a user-replaceable battery whereas the LTEvo is sealed in, so that might be an important factor for you as well.

It's also important to consider that the clock speed difference between the GNex and LTEvo doesn't tell the whole story. Even though it appears there is only a 300 Mhz difference, the processor on the LTEvo is the Snapdragon S4, which is essentially a generation beyond that of the A9 based OMAP in the Gnex.

To think about it in laypersons term, per core, per clock cycle, the S4 does more and is stronger than the OMAP in the GNex. It does more with each Mhz.

Both devices are great and you can't go wrong with either of them. Specs wise, I would go with the EVO LTE. I'm not going to lie though, the GN is a good looking device and the stock experience is beautiful. Infact, I was thinking of purchasing it at the Google play store for that awesome price and use a prepaid plan. That's hard to pass up. I'm still debating if I should. But I'm still keeping course with my plan of either the EVO LTE or the GS3.

The epandable memory of the EVO LTE, is something I like. I may not need ALL of it's potential storage though, its nice to have it available. I'll probably end up with EL TEVO, but the Gnex is just sexy looking.

If we're just talking those 2 phones, LTEvo wins, by virtue of having an external sd slot. That said, I wouldn't select until all the superphones are out from HTC, Motorola, and Samsung.

The Nexus screen is a little smaller. They say 4.65" but part of that is the on screen buttons. I'm holding next to my old EVO 4g right now and the usable screen space is nearly identical. So the Nexus' screen real estate is noticeably less considering similar physical dimensions.

Aren't the on screen buttons native to ICS regardless? I just thought the capacitive buttons on the LTEvo / One X were in addition to the on screen buttons (not in replacement of).

A phone that has capacitive buttons does not show the on screen buttons so they replace on screen on the EVO. With the EVO with it's 3 button design though, there will be instances that an onscreen menu button will appear.

Thanks for clarifying. I was under the impression that the on screen buttons were standard for ICS, but I guess that's not the case.
