Root Boost Cust Serv and signal

Hey all,

Just been utilizing all the great minds here for a while now.
I figured I would share my experience from today.

I have been having signal issues for the past month or longer.
Today I had enough, a 3MB speedtest app tooks 25 minutes to download.
I called up 611.

They told me there are no issues in Chicagoland
I had already updated my phone firmware, prl, samsung software.
She directed me to do a hands free reactivation after reseting something using ##72786# entering my msl and then agreeing to let the phone "SCRTN is change to factory default for DSA".

The phone rebooted, entered hands free activation.
It activated the phone, checked for updated prl and firmware.

It did update the prl to 61008 which I have never seen before....
I was on 61007 and had complaints with their 3G, the new updated prl 61008 now gives me 1xRTT 2.5G what a joke.

I have just about had it. I have been with boost mobile for over 3 years always pay ontime and never use a shitload of internet. To be serious this phone is only used for news/calls/texts. I rarely use the internet except when using the Play Store.

Any suggestions.

Samsung Prevail
16GB sdhc
FA19 rooted using odin for flashing
Factory defaulted after flash
Flashed EJ06 baseband to resolve signal issues.......

EJ06 has steadied the phone signal but still crap download speed.
35k down 23k up. Was 200+ just before all this

Hey Kristopher,

Thanks alot for the replay and help.

Yes I have done a ton of reading here first before I attempted any changes and well before I called customer service.

I tried 01115 01119 011120 60686 60683 the normal 61007 boost and then after todays update 61008.

I cant seem to get above the 100kb download speed, and its down over 400kb/s from what it was a month or so ago

i would give 11119 a shot and after changing prl make sure you turn DM back to USM.. disable it that could be your trouble all along

May need to remove the throttle too

Yeah I am charging it back up to full before I do any more work today, but I was going to do the corporate prl again, now that I have EJ06 stability in signal.....

Thanks for the reminders too, but I have a whiteboard next to me with all my notes in order, all the service codes, program names and uses and instructions how to. Then I have then on a notepad for permanent records....

Yeah ##8778# and ##7678# have come in handy.
Setup USB and UART respectively.

On a side note I'm at the NJ/PA border. I updated my PRL today (changed phones, got it back from Samsung) and the PRL that I got was 61008.

We're close to each other, I live in Gloucester County on the Jersey side. What 3g speeds do you usually get? Its rare I get above 100k down most of the time I'm like 20k down. I'm on the 60681 prl I haven't done much testing with different ones.

Well I just made a liar out of my self. I just tested now and I got 1mb down. I guess the speeds are more linked to the bandwidth on the network. When I try to use my 3g during the day it's terrible.

I just posted this in another thread but it applies here as well
Try the 3g/4g speed optimizer app from the play store

I am really tempted to say:

Liar, Liar Pants on Fire!

just kidding tho, has anyone picked apart this 3g/4g optimizer?

If so, what does it do that we cant do with a single operation script?

If noone has I will try to pick it apart to reveal its secret over the weekend.

It's for real! Easy way on windows, change the file extension to zip, then use winrar or 7zip to extract everything. You need NotePad++ to make compatible script for Android.
I actually found Ubuntu installer for windows. Running it on a NetBook lol

Well, I picked up 3g/4g optimizer pro today.....

No difference at all.
I did go in, give su permissions
set up 12/28/7 max speed, download first.
Applied tweak, rebooted.

NO DIFFERENCE
I REPEAT NO DIFFERENCE.

I was dl'n at 363 down 23 up yesterday.

After this tweak:

354 down 29 up?

Dont understand why the upload got better, when I setup the fastest optimization and priority is downloads.

screenshot-1336181375648.png

After trying every setting, nothing has helped.
Even every option with the 3 subs, default/down/up for each
Removed it and my speeds are back at 360 down 150 up again.

Even installed this on three different networks.
Boost, Verizon, and AT&T

IT DID NOTHING FOR ANY OF THEM.
I spent 10 hours trial and error on three different phones on three different networks.

Going to do T-Mobile/US Cellular next.....not promising tho.

If my results are this consistant, I am going to release it to the play store and call scam on the app.

That's pretty disappointing for sure. It worked on my wife's phone as well. What kind of setup do you have? Running any other tweaks or scripts?

Hey guys,

Samsung Prevail Odin FA19 rooted, replaced baseband with EJ06.
First set of tests 61007, after cust service calls, updated to 61008.

My last post I tested 61008(newest boost), 11119(corp), 61007(prev boost)

Superuser permissions on 3g/4g optimizer pro

This time around I am script and tweak free besides the 3g/4g

Tested using Verizon on DroidX CM9 ICS
fresh rom, installed 3g/4g and gave permissions

Sorry didn't see your question under the pic.

Did a fresh install from the rooted EJ06 Odin image

I'm running CM7, EJ06 Baseband
Overclock kernel 946 MHz
60711 PRL
no scripts or any extras. Was straight up testing the app.

My wife has the same setup but on the 60683 PRL

Going to try that prl out. I did some research on it and its suppose to be the prl sprint made to fix the 3g data speed issue. So what i have read. Can't knock it until i try it. Thanks

i haven't ever had prl issues, but was just wondering? using stock 61007 and have -100 to -110 dbm and 100 to 110 asu, is this ok, good, or what????

that is actually a little low but the better signal you get the better. Changing the prl may help because using sprint prls allows you to access there towers.
with 1 bar i am at -95 dBm 95 asu. and i am currently using the 60711 prl.

But if its working for you then i wouldn't change it really.

the way it works the higher the number the better. for dBm and asu
the average is to -80 i think i cant remember off the top of my head

Kris,

The lower the negative number for dBm the better the signal you have.

The -110 and -100 are yellow, and on the verge of red.

-120 is the limit.

My boost phone gets avg -93dBm and at best -65dBm
:adore:Verizon gets -1 to -10 at best with a -25 avg.
well just looked at it again and is -85 to -90 and 85 to 90 with 2 bars????

so this is not too bad, still the same with 2 bars 85 to 90 bolth???????????
