Root Samsung galazy mini-system partion?

i not sure if this is the right place, but ill put it here anyway:

i recently was trying to flash a rom on my samsung galaxy mini. in the instructions i was told to 'wipe data' and 'wipe cache partition' before running the rom. however, when i tried to reboot my system, i just got a white screen. i can still access recovery mode, and when i enter it, i get this message:

(invaled argument)

cant mount system partition.
installation abotred.

does anyone have any sugestions? is my phone bricked? i read somwhere that theres a chance if i can enter recovery mode, but what do i do from there?!?!

hi, i was trying to flash an android 4.0.3 rom i found on a site, and if its what u mean i backed my phone up with titanium backup

and by recovery I meant .DO you have Samsung Recovery (bml utils ) or ClockworkMod recovery ?

Your link is spelled wrong (an extra http://), but I checked out the site. I would make the assumption you are rooted and have installed Clockwork Recovery? If you haven't done either, installing this ROM will not work. Head on over to this thread if you haven't rooted:

Check out the link I posted. It will show you how to flash Clockwork. Before (and after installing Clockwork) you start flashing any ROMs, PLEASE create a complete back (Nandroid) of your phone.

Be sure to follow the directions on how to install Clockwork Mod. Also, do not go the route of ROM Manager as the guide says the Mini is not compatible.
If you don't mind, I'm going to move this to the All Things Root section of the Galaxy Mini. You'll get a lot more device specific help there.

You will need to install Clockwork Mod recovery and flash it with Odin and then use install from zip .

Odin is the flashing tool .
You will need to go in Download mode to flash custom recovery .

could i just put clockworkmod on sd card?

No ,you cant put ClockworkMod in SD card .
Odin is essential .

Which Operating System are you using ?

if its the right thing and im not messing up again, computer has windos 7 professional 32 bit and phone.....i havnt changed anything(first rom i tried to flash) so im pretty sure its still linux?

I wanted to know your OS of Computer .
When you attach a Samsung device in Odin Mode ,New drivers are installed .
If they aren't ,please turn on automatic updates for drivers .

The Drivers are essential for Phone to PC connection

They should look like MSM7227 drivers or similar .
You will get a yellow COM port 4 or something similar in the Odin Box after drivers are succesfully installed .

my computer picks up my phone in the list of drivers, it is just odin that cannot pick it up.

Do you have samsung Kies installed?
If not install it and retry.

Try performing a factory reset via clockwork mod recovery .
