New Droid/ New Questions

I just got my Droid about 1 week ago. I love it, I have owned everything from an Iphone to HTC FUZE-G1-SAMSUNG ETERNITY-ENV2-and back to the Iphone.

The droid in my opinion bests them all. I just got a few questions though.

Does ringdroid make any notification, i have a song on my droid that has a gun shot and want to make that a SMS alert, am I able to use that short 3 sec for a SMS notification?

How hot should my droid be running? I plan to root later this week, and want to know what temp should be acceptable for 950MHZ, and how hot can I get up to using the data, music, sms, video, etc?

Are there other live wallpapers other than the one that has the colored rectangles shooting around?

And is there a website/guide on making custom boot animations?

Thanks! And feel free to add anything a newbie like me should know! :D

  1. RingDroid is used to make tracks. To use different tracks for ringtones, also install Rings Extended v1.1 Application for Android | Tools
  2. Most of us don't get worried unless the CPU temp goes above 50C (122F) but the CPU is reportedly able to withstand 100C (212F).
  3. Personally, if mine ever gets above 122F I stop what I am doing right then and let it cool off. However, running ChevyNo1's 10-slot 1200 MHz kernel I have yet to see it sustain a temp above 122.
  4. Yes, there are - if the ROM you choose has LWPs in it there are a few with the ROM that you can change to, and there are plenty more in the market.
  5. You can read up on it at AllDroid - see Howto Create Custom Boot animation for Droid

Thanks so much! Just one more thing, can you tweak the wallpapers in the ROMs?

Well, the starfield 3D live wallpaper in the market has settings for number of stars and speed, if that's what you mean. Not many of the wallpapers have "settings". What do you mean, exactly, by tweaks?

tweaks i mean change the wallpaper, but keep the rom, like have certain wallpapers i download be put on vs the regular one from the ROM
