I am bored, should I upgrade to 2.1?

Hello all,

I know this is a desicion that I should be making on my own but I have been going back and forward about it since the leaked 2.1 came out. And I have been away on buisness for the past week and I have one more week to go and I am getting bored!! The temptaion of 2.1 is setting in. So do I do it? I am just sitting bored outta my mind in the hotel!

Well, as long as you've got nothing else to do, you might as well have some fun with your phone. Be sure and back up your contacts first.

BTW, I've not heard of any actually bricking their phone doing this, but if that's you're only contact to home you might want to flip a coin for best 2 out of 3 or something.

If you are just going to complain after knowing what has been said about the leaked 2.1 then NO. If you are willing to accept the 2.1 with its faults and you are able to deal with them, GO FOR IT!

Definitely a decision you have to make because I say, "Heck yeah, I love it!" and others will tell you to hold off. Like the above poster...please don't come back and complain about it constantly if you upgrade and regret it. I think that most don't regret it but obviously some do.

it looks like its hit and miss with some people with bugs because I have not seen one bug yet since i put 2.1 on my phone yesterday.

I got confused as to how to do it and I came here and asked questions so there are a few decent ppl who will help you out.

And as far as coming back to "complain" after you do it as stated above, I am curious to see what your thoughts are on your newly updated phone...

I've yet to see a majority of the bugs that others have said they have had.

Yes I downloaded it from Matlocks tutorial. In about 20min it will be a done deal!! I cant wait!

I just can't afford to lose 1 or more bars of signal if that's a common bug. Also, I don't want to have a ridiculously high awake time. The stock 1300 battery gets me through the day most of the time now, so I don't want to hurt my battery anymore.

Do it. I'm really leaning toward my huge Flickr account or the weather crap being my issue. We shall see but seems my issue is only me so I'm thinking Flickr. After playing with a 1.5 phoneit would be hard to go back. Just seemed so slow. I never complained about my phone being slow pre leak either.

I was having the high awake time issue until I turned off my IM program, Meebo. It was keeping the phone awake by staying connected to 4 accounts. Since I turned it off, zero problems.

as long as you are comfortable with backing up your data and ensuring you can restore the device if you brick it, then go for it.

also, for everyone who recommends take your device to the store, stores generally do not do warranty replacements. tech support does call them.

When you reboot, how long does the white screen with the 3 droids stay on before you get the prompt and press the trackball? Mine is just sitting at this point.

It took 2-3 min. Just be paitent! The nav is awesome! Just went for a quick spin. So far no problems with sounds/service.
