Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Oh come now, I've been up for 3 hours already! :D
Ditto. Which means by the time I start my work day, I'm ready for a nap.

There are very few things that could get me up at 5 and stay up.

Getting up is the tough part. After that, the steady inflow of caffeine is crucial to the staying up part. That, and a 30 minute commute on I-95 is usually enough to keep me up.

Morning all. Lost girl is definitely one of our favorites, and true blood, but we do that after the fact by Netflix, since we do not have HBO at home.....being human is another favorite.

So this afternoon I am having a tooth extracted and a bone graft to fill it up....woo hoo. Hope the drugs are enough to help my anxiety and the pain levels.

Other than that, we had a good weekend. Party on Saturday evening at a friends, then a 7 mi hike with the kids yesterday. Gorgeous weather out here this weekend!!! Hope everyone has a good week!

Good luck! Sounds painful. Just out of curiosity, what does the bone graft to fill it up do? Having had a tooth pulled before (yes, literally PULLED, along with my jaw out of joint), I'm intrigued...

Good Morning Gnexers! :D

Morning everyone!
Boring question of the morning... Has anyone Beamed with someone else yet? I know one other person with a Nexus but haven't seen him since he got it so I haven't had the chance. I looked up and the One X can also Beam, so that's pretty cool.

My son finally gave up the Eris and bought a Nexus (with his OWN money - YAYYY!) and we had fun trying Beam out. Works for websites - but you both have to be on the same browser. Works for Contacts. Does NOT work for pictures, which is kinda sucky. I understand the SGS3 can do that, but not Nexus. Not yet, anyway...

SO yeah, Beam is limited in capability but is still pretty cool :)

Gooooooood morning everyone - actually not tired this Monday morning, which is strange for me. Had a very fun and successful weekend so maybe my good mood helps.

Made Blue Moon and Corona cupcakes with the girlfriend for a Cinco De Mayo party and they were delicious. Got a hint of beer in each cupcake, but a nice taste of orange (blue moon) or lime (corona) in the cupcakes. Definitely one of my favorites that we have made.

On Sunday got my car fixed and back in order. The old tires were dry rotted at the bead, which is why they wouldn't hold air. Had my friend mount and balance my new tires for me at his job on the side, which is always nice because I just toss him money instead of paying the ridiculous amount of money to the actual place. The fact that I can drive my car now is so good - missed this thing.

FINALLY, got my iOS app sent out to a few friends with iOS devices for testing via TestFlightApp which allows for distribution of iOS apps for testing (ad-hoc) but it allows for OTA installation which is amazing. Makes everything so simple. Found a few errors and got those resolved this morning so hoping to submit to the app store this week. When I was playing around in their dev portal though I got a message about possible rejection with the term Weight Watchers so thinking of naming the app WW Points Calculator & Tracker and just putting 'Weight Watchers' in the description.

Yup I have - coolest thing I think is for sharing apps. Just head to the Market and beam it over. Not sure if it works on running apps, but the concept is pretty cool. The SGS3 does it over a Wi-Fi direction connection meaning you can transfer large files to/from each other which is neat, but the whole concept of NFC is pretty neat.

I have a very large cup (44z) of coffee most mornings. Thankfully my commute is 20 minutes in the opposite direction of most traffic.

I bet there is an extra bit of code in the SGS3 to accomplish that. I think the correct method of implementation to do that would be to use NFC to beam initiate a bluetooth or wifi direct connection between the two phones to transfer the picture. NFC is very limited in that it is not a high speed data transfer method so it's typically used for small data packet transfers that initiate other things. The Nex is capable of it, it just needs to be programmed in that manner...maybe a dev can bake it in eventually.

Funny you should ask that...i did too. Apparently when you pull a molar, and plan to replace it with an implant, some doctors will speed up the bone healing process (basically the holes where the roots were in the jawbone heal from the bottom up...) so they use a bone graft to fill in some of the space, and help speed up and bulk up the bone healing. Then in 3 months I go back, and they will screw in a titanium screw, and affix an implant tooth to the screw....
Now here is the learning part I did not know: sometimes they can use your own bone, scrapped off another part of your own jaw during the extraction, which is the best way (although quite painful) OR they use another bone...like cadaver or pig.....apparently I have good dental.insurance because my insurance covers everything, including the implant, except for the bone graft....of course...but thats only about $300...
A coworker is having the same procedures done, on the same tooth, the same day, but with a different doctor and hers is costing her about $5500..(ouch)

My younger brother just went through that process, except his was more extensive. He had two front teeth pulled because they were dwarf teeth and his other two front teeth never developed. They then told him his bone structure up front wasn't strong enough to accept 4 implants, so they grafted bone from the back portion of his jaw to the front where the implants were going to be. Then he went back several months later and got the studs put in and then a few weeks later had the teeth put on. He initially lost feeling on part of his lip and cheek but it came back mostly.

Morning Everyone!!! :D Happy Monday!!!

kool_105-albums-more-stuff-picture91641-20040622-garfield-monday.jpg

I have been busy this weekend, so haven't gone on AF much, lol

Saw the Avengers in 3D and loved it!!! Some of the action scenes were a bit blurry so I wasn't impressed with that. Love all of the fighting. My favourite scenes were when Hulk simply randomly punch people (some of the Avengers) to the moon when they least expected it. I swear there was going to be a kiss scene between the Black Widow and the Archer (don't know his name).

I saw the full super moon Saturday night. It was very big and very bright. My eyes felt it was looking at the beam of a flash light.

So who here is a Fringe fan?

I finally got around to watching the new episode from Friday. It is great how everyone on the show uses Android phones. It was particularly nice that the show started this week with someone using a Sprint Galaxy Nexus and Google Wallet to purchase a cup of coffee. They even made a point of showing someone else picking up the phone after he died to show that a PIN was needed to make a purchase using Google Wallet.
I love Fringe and the Android references they make in the episodes. I haven't watched when season 3 was moved from Thursday to Friday. I HATE Friday tv showing. It's the 'killer' time :(

Not a Fringe fan - sorry.
Once Upon A Time, Grimm, Lost Girl and Smash are my favorites right now. Sons of Anarchy when it returns will be added.
+1 Once Upon a Time. I'm a big sucker for fairy tales. I can't wait for Snow White and the Huntsmen to come out this summer!!!

Grimm was ok...acting was not that great for most of the characters. I tried to watch Smash but the plot was kind of predictable *coughs* boring.

Tried to get my wife to get a Nexus so we could beam but she didn't, so we don't.

Decided it was time to give back to a community I had learned and gained so much from.
Great going Svt!! :D Welcome to the club of Gold!!

There are very few things that could get me up at 5 and stay up.
I woke up at 5am yesterday. I couldn't go back to sleep, so just lied in bed for 3 hours :(

So this afternoon I am having a tooth extracted and a bone graft to fill it up....woo hoo. Hope the drugs are enough to help my anxiety and the pain levels.
Tooth extraction isn't that bad...though Bone Graft never sounds appealing

5? I live in central time zone, that was 4AM :p I get up at 5AM every day of the work week. Today I had to get up at 4 because the wife had to be up at 4 to get to school early for a field trip.
I feel bad for you and your kind :p

Morning y'all. Been up since 330a PST. Crazy Coffee Company opens at 430a M-F! Not a morning person but I do it three times a week! Sorry BEEBS for your morning grumpies, as I like to call it!

jmar
You're even worst than SVT...what time do you go to sleep? 7pm?

Fascinating. Mine was a molar, the very back one, but I don't have anything in its place. Not sure I would have been willing to go through that much pain. I was a big enough pansy getting the tooth pulled to begin with. The only reason I had the tooth pulled was because I had a quack dentist that replaced a filling - which I was not having problems with - and didn't realize my tooth beneath it was cracked. So when he put the filling over it, every time I bit down on something, it spread the crack apart, and it was excruciating. Thanks to that fiasco, I'm an even bigger sissy about the dentist now than I was before.

Got about 5 more active installs of my app this weekend. In just a few short weeks, my free app has gained 25 active installs and according to my adMob account, judging by the amount of ads requested and filled, they are using it quite frequently. I'll get to do a little more work on it tonight and possibly get another update out there. The goal for tonight is better scaling for tablets and maybe see if I can figure out this in app purchase thing in case they want to donate to get rid of the ads.
