I'm new to the forum so I hope I'm not posting in the wrong place.

I have had a Desire for the last year or so it is the best phone I've ever had. I have put a custom rom on it and it works very well for the most part except the video recording now records out of sync with the sound. I cant find out why after much searching so I decided its time to buy something new so went for a Desire S from ebay.
The phone is really quick and everything I expected.....except the touchscreen response is awful. For instance when I'm typing some letters dont get pressed, and sometimes I'll get the numbers like I had done a long press on a key. Swiping to move desktops is the same, in fact its so had to use I've gone back to my old desire. Ive tried different keyboards and its been factory reset also.

My questions are....Any suggestions on how to solve this? Am I the only one with this problem on desire s?

I bought it mainly because its inline for ICS so I wanted to avoid rooting at this stage but I wont totally rule it out. Plus its only 4 months old.

Thanks for reading this!!

As you've tried a factory reset, there's not much else to suggest, apart from a Goldcard or rooting and flashing a custom ROM. Or, if you can find an RUU that's the same version as your phone's ROM you could try to flash that.

Also, ICS/Sense 4.0 is slated to be released this month for the Desire S. So, if your ROM is an HTC stock ROM, you might get it OTA within the next few weeks.

Small update: I contacted HTC and after a few basic questions they quickly said they will take it in for repair.

They didnt say it was a known problem but they didnt waste any time getting it booked in to be looked at. Its being collected tomorrow so I'll post back what happens if anyone wants to know. They estimate about a week or so to turn this repair around.

I have been having the same problem over the last few days..

The keyboard lagging and locking, my back button sometimes failing to work or even opening a different comand, also sometimes when trying to input my screen unlock it won't keep record of my finger and make me input the wrong pattern over and over.

Ive tried making more room on mt device, however I have an 8gb sd card which is rather empty.. I don't want to reset my phone as I don't want to lose app data..

I have also tried to calibrate my screen just incase, turning my phone off for long period as well as removing the battery.

I've not had time to contact HTC yet. This is my 2nd desire s after my first one developed problems after a couple of months, it was replaced and now its been about the same length of time that a device has experienced problems. Not a happy customer atm

Hmm this is not inspiring me with confidence. I still dont have my Desire S back from HTC either.

Currently I'm still using my old rooted desire and the touch screen is just so easy to use. I'd keep it if it was faster and would get ICS.
