Official - Virgin Mobile USA to use Sprint WiMax 4G

I had told everyone that a long time ago. LTE would be reserved for the postpaid arena.
They will make more money off of upgrading contracts and getting new contracts with LTE to lure them in.

WiMAX was on the way out, So they had to find a way to make money off of it.
Thus giving it to their MVNO's.

I'd sell my Triumph but I fubar'ed it. Screen is cracked up and I refused to replace it because I knew this was coming. It sure did come sooner than I expected though...

Which is not a bad thing!

I just called a VM rep and asked if I could use my EVO from Sprint on VM instead of buying essentially the same phone. The rep said no- that is very frustrating/ disappointing seeing how the Sprint EVO and VM EVO are almost identical and use the network.

Theoretically though if you look at the software, bloatware, PRL, MMS settings, etc..
It's not exactly the same phone. We'd still have to "Flash" it. They would lose money this way.

I have a screen protector on my Triumph, Else a huge piece of glass would of fallen off of it. I wouldn't bother with replacements, Nor insurance. I knew eventually there was going to be a better phone.

It took me almost a year to break this phone, I'm usually pretty good with them.

First thing I'm doing after getting this Evo V is get an Otterbox. LOL

i really like my triumph since flashing, but i would probly be really tempted at this lol

motorola triumph - 4.1 inch screen 720p hd, 1GHz single core, 512MB ram, stock froyo

HTC EVO V - 4.3 inch 3d/hd screen, 1.2GHz Dual core, something like 1gb ram, stock 4.0 ICS

the only reason i would think of not getting it, atleast right away is Vm's little plot about changing grandfathered plans in order to get the phone

but that being said going from possible 3g to 4g would be enough of a network change to allow the to change the price

cause normally a grandfathered plan you can change your phone to any phone you want, you just cant change your services(3g,4g,sms) without changing your plan

Evolution V has a qHD screen and it'll have Sense 3.6 over it. Although I'm sure pure ICS ROMs will surface.

well i was hopeful lol i was reading a cnet review on it, said they have been coming basically off the line with ICS, and the actual VM site linked at the top says ICS right in the details, so ill keep my glass half full till VM comes and tips it over lol

Yes, it will have ICS off the line, but it'll have the Sense 3.6 skin over it, so it won't be pure ICS out of the box unless you flash a new ROM.

Having a 3D capable camera (and the requisite two lenses) but NOT having a 3D capable screen is annoying. If I can't use the phone to view the 3D photos, I'd rather just have a "normal" 2D camera.

Here's how it will go out in the real world-

"Why does your phone have two camera lenses?"

-Because it can take 3D pictures.

"Cool. Take one and show me what it looks like!"

-Uhhh...I can't exactly. (followed by explanations, etc.)

It wouldn't stop me from buying the phone, but it's a stupid set up.

Edit: The article I read stating the the phone would NOT have a 3D screen was later updated to say that it would. Disregard the above.

Who said it wouldn't have a 3D capable screen?

That Verge news site said something about it "looks like" the 3D screen was removed. Not sure what "looks like" actually means by their terminology though (grin). To me the 3D screen is either gone or it isn't.

A bunch of websites also said 4G will be unlimited so who the hell knows what's real and what isn't anymore lol

Well you know what they say... if it's on the internet it must be true. NOT. Actually if you look at the pic of it on VM's site why does it have a 2d/ 3d switch on the side still if it doesn't have a 3d screen, and as far as 4g goes it very clearly talks about it on VM's site...

The switch can be used to switch between 2D/3D for the camera and not necessarily for the screen. I would hope the screen would be 3D capable, but knowing VM I won't hold my breath.

I thought the only 3D capabilities of it are the pictures and videos anyways? =/

The launcher/Sense UI isn't 3D.

They wouldn't leave the dual cameras if it didn't have any 3D functionality.
Uh oh. I looked at the name and it's omitted the 3D. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I wouldn't take much stock in the fact that they removed the "3D" from the name in the rebrand. Besides, "HTC Evo V 3D 4G" is just a tad bit long. "Evo V 4G" is a good solid rebrand and touts their new 4G offering. ;)

It's just weird they would omit such an eye catching phrase like "3D" from the name. It takes away some of the original thrill. I think It'll make my job a bit harder too in terms of explanations.

Then again, I'll already have the phone so I'll just show them. =]

The LG Thrill isn't called the LG Thrill 3D... I think the Evo 3D is the only 3D phones that has 3D in it's name... That and there aren't many 3D phones anyways... Maybe they shoulda called it the Evo 3D V or something...
