If you don't know what an MSL code then you don't need it :p

If you need it, here's how to find it on the Warp with Gingerbread 2.3.5

Following the directions in this post with caveats listed below:

http://androidforums.com/htc-hero-s...thout-calling-sprint-using-cmda-workshop.html

When you open aLogCat, click Menu, then Filter.

Set a filter on the word "code" without the quotes

Wait a few seconds or more. Or go to phone and trying ##3282# again, select Edit, then Cancel. Go back to aLogCat, look at the results. You'll probably see two 6 digit codes listed. One of them is your MSL.

Go back to your dialer, enter ##3282#, select Edit. Try each code. One of them will work.

Be aware that if you enter the wrong MSL twice the phone will automatically reboot.

Just as I suspected, MSL Reader from Market fails miserably - doesn't pull the MSL even with root access. Probably because ZTE goes to significant lengths to obscure info on the Warp phone.

We tried several typical "getprop" commands yesterday with adb to try to find the MSL, none worked. So far the only solution that does work for sure it the one I posted above.

Moderator note 1/6/2013- changing your MSL is a VERY bad idea. EarlyMon

You must already have your phones msl code for this to work

Click the link below to download DFS. Its a fully working demo

that you can use as many times as you want plus its better then CDMA Workshop and totally free

Download CDMA Tool DFS software.

DIRECTIONS

Using your dialer dial *983*87274#
Choose Only Diag or if your only internet is tether (like me)
Choose All Functions

Open DFS and wait till the countdown completes

If you did not see which com port your phone installed to. Dont worry DFS knows.

Click on the port button

Now in the port list look for ZTE Handset Diagnostic Interface and double click it once there's a green circle next to it its activated.

Find the SPC box and type in your MSL code

Click the blue circle next to the word SPC to send the unlock code

If you entered it correctly this is what it will say on the log
window

correctmsl.jpg

Click on the programing tab to get to the SPC edit area
programmingtap.jpg

From here go down below SPC where it says STR and enter any six digit number you want your MSL to be in the white box.
newmsl.jpg

The last thing to do is to click the red write button and your

finished changing your MSL just reboot your phone for changes to take effect
You can also click reset in DFS to reboot
resetlk.jpg

TO CHECK IF IT WORKED

When phone reboots open DFS
Go to place where you input the MSL code and test your new code and see if you get the unlocked successful text in the log.

Or find a place that needs your MSL code in your phone and try it.

If it works open dialer again and enter *983*87274# and this time choose AT or usb will not work.

TIPS

Write down the original MSL code in case you need to change it back later.

I am not sure if your new MSL has to be 6 digits or not.

The MSL can only be numbers.

I would call the dial code leaving out the last # first
Then in your call list hold down on the number click edit
before call and just add the last # so you dont have to
remember the code or dial it.

If you enter the wrong MSL more then twice your phone will ether freeze or reboot.

I am not sure if you have to be rooted or not

I take no responsibility if you mess up your phone doing this if that is even possible.

Now its time to backup your original prl in case one of the flashed prl's cause you to completely lose signal as to where you cant update prl from the phone its self.
Click the blue button labeled read under the prl section.
Once your prl shows up in between the box above the read/write buttons and the world enabled, click save and save it someplace safe.

backupw.jpg

Now that's out of the way its time to flash a prl to your handset.

Ether put all of your downloaded .prl's into the prl folder located in the DFS installation folder. (this allows them to show up under the local tab in the prl area). or just click the load button and navigate to where you downloaded them.

loadr.jpg

Once you have the prl that you want to flash loaded click the red write button to flash it to your phone.

savec.jpg

The log box should look like this in the picture below. If everything went ok every thing in list will say ok.

okjpg.jpg

The final step is to reboot your phone click the reset button at the top if you don't reset you will not have a signal at all

resetlk.jpg

If everything was successful open dialer again and enter *983*87274# and this time choose AT or usb will not work.

I flashed the new Sprint 61085 prl over from the stock 61007 Boost prl and immediately noticed HUGE speed differences. Thank you aenoch. Your instructions and links to the tools worked flawlessly!

Where did you find that PRL? THe list i have doesn't show that one listed....can you link the source of PRL files please that you have been using?

i updated to the 60687 prl and it seemed to have added at least 100kb/s and this is at home where i barely get signal so i'm going to check how fast it is at work to see if it actually makes a big difference. the cdma signal also seems to be more stable. the file isn't in that link so this is where i found it Sprint released a couple of new PRL's - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

I'm just going to throw this out there. I havn't done any regular testing however I have found that the time of day makes a HUGE difference in speed as well. for me I've gone from .15Mbps @ 12:43PM to 1.9Mbps & 131ms (peak) @ 4:50AM that's with stock boost PRL. I'm going to manually update to the 60687 and see how that compares.. Probably won't get another early morning test in because I'm usually asleep at this hour. Ok so I just updated the PRL its now 5:16am and I have reached 2.01mps thats pretty consistent too. that 1.9 from before seemed like a freak accident. The new network graph has a much more stable look / average to it. There is a definate improvement. Very curious to see how this performs in the afternoon. Thanks for the how to aenoch!

Works great on the LG Marquee. Didn't even need use the hidden menu when changing prl. Just plug the phone in, set COM port, enter msl in spc box, click the spc blue button and BAM! It picked up my phone and I proceeded to change the prl. Worked like a charm.

Cheers aenoch. Thanks for the TUT. ;)

Special thanks go out to lMonsterl for taking the time to share his wisdom with me and give some pointers. Thx Bro :D
