Does the screen on your N1 act wierdly sometimes?

Fairly regularly, my N1 seems to lose calibration or something. When I tap one part of the screen, it seems to click on another part. It seems to be random, but the same random spot. e.g. when I click the same spot it affects the same place somewhere else on the a screen.

But it hasn't obviously moved down, or rotated. e.g. I can be typing on the keyboard, most of letters will work perfectly, but then a few will not work at all and another few will type the wrong letter or click on part of the screen above the keyboard.

Yes, it is a known issue and is caused by the "palm-wrap" fault: that is, if the edges of your palm are touching the very borders of the screen, the phone registers your touch incorrectly (it thinks you're touching the edge of your screen, usually the bottom half). To fix, simply hold your phone upright or lay it on a flat surface.

I'm almost positive it's a software-related issue with the OS not registering the accelerometer correctly, since on many custom ROMs the problem is very infrequent to non-existent.

Don't be so quick to diagnose this as another 'me too' digitiser fault.
I noticed a strange problem with my N1. Recently, the screen seemed to go almost unresponsive. Reboots did nothing to resolve it. Then I noticed that the problem went away when I plugged it out of the wall charger. Bearing in mind that this was a cheapo chinese charger, it may be reasonable to assume a problem with the charger.
I recently saw another N1 that, when in the browser app, registers presses 10mm up from the + zoom button as + zooms. Only that spot misregsters though, and only in the browser.

No this is definitely NOT a palm wrap problem and not a multi-touch problem.

This happened again this morning and I wanted to document it. I installed the multi-touch test program (mentioned in other threads) and laid the N1 flat on the settee and touched the screen with a single finger about 3cm above the "menu" button. It registered about 1cm above the menu button.

I went to find my camcorder, by which time the screen had blanked. When I turned the N1 back on the problem had gone away...

I also have a cheapo chinese charger. But it wasn't plugged at this time. I had unplugged it about 20 mins earlier. Although I have to say that when this problem occurs, it generally is plugged in.

So... don't use a cheapo Chinese charger?

Stock charger is nice.

I have the same issue and have installed a drawing app so I can draw the issue. I have found it can ne related to palm wrap, but it also seems that it can be caused by touching any conductive part of the phone, including the body and the stand charger points. normally laying it on its back on a desk and rubbing my finger over the screen a bit fixes the issue.

It is annoying and is my primary reason for thinking bout rooting.

Sorry, i have re-read your OP and this is a known issue - can be cured by restart or trying to do a long press on an icon in the problem area of the screen.

I had the issue myself, though hardy ever had it since rooting (maybe not at all), so I suspect it is a software issue.
