HTC Hero UK Deals

Hi I saw that exact same offer on mobiles.co.uk too was gonna get it but they took it down. Does anyone know if they are gonna put it back up or why they took it down? Where did you see the same offer from? Do you know if mobiles.co.uk are any-good because I tried ringing them but there's no answer.

I've ordered a touch hd from them in the past. Their site said it was in stock, but it wasn't and i had to wait over a week for it. Then last week i ordered a hero and had it the following day, along with a free bluetooth headset (use promo code: VCCOM) also if you go through quidco you can get an extra

Dunno why, i emailed them but i think there closed at weekends so hopefully get a responce as to why the offers were taking down. Might ring their sales team on monday to see if they could still do the deal for me.
My current contract is from them, 18 month LG Viewty on T-mobile, and they were good to deal with didnt have any problems.

TR21 did you get the brown version? If so whats it like, is it very browny just the back looks similar to the orange graphite version..

Oh and this is where the other offer is: http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/Brands/HTC/b509/p18610.aspx

I may be the reason the deals were taken down. I ordered a HTC Hero on Vodafone on Friday at lunchtime, the phones disappeared on Friday by the time I left work. I suspect it wasn't supposed to be there and placing my order made them realise their mistake.

Phone should have been with me Saturday, but nothing, and the "Track my order progress" is still stuck on the same status it was when I ordered. Tried calling on Saturday morning first thing, the message you first hear says you may be on hold for an hour, and that emailing is best as they try to answer within two hours. So after 15 minutes on hold, I emailed instead. Auto response says "We aim to respond to you via email within 48 hours of receipt during normal office hours." Doh!

I have seen the (white) Hero on O2 but their tariffs are a bit steep. I'm really not sure I want to go on Orange so may just end up with the Magic on Vodafone :(

I did get the brown, and tbh brown was the colour i least liked. But now i really like it. The metal parts around the screen are more copper than brown and the front bottom and back are more like black to my eyes.

TR21 - Did you go on orange, what are they like? Thanks for the promo code I'll be sure to use it :).

I did go with orange, but my dads using the sim and i put my o2 sim in the hero. I had to call orange to confirm the tariff and to port my dads number from o2. They answered the phone within 1 minute and were really polite and helpful. He does to the countryside of a weekend and usually it's hard to get a signal, but he's had no problems with orange. Im considering moving to them when my contract with o2 is up.

Also, to anyone ordering from mobiles.co.uk, dont forget to use quidco for

Got this email this morning from mobiles.co.uk

Hello,

We lost the approval of the HTC Hero on Vodafone,

If you wish to purchase this phone it will need to be on Orange.

Rather gutted :(, think i might ring up mobilephonesdirect and see what upgrade price they can give me on the T-Mobile G2. They have it on 18month contacts Combi20+WebnWalk for

Anderson, thanks for posting - I've still not heard from Mobiles.co.uk directly even though I ordered one!

Interesting about mobilephonesdirect - they're still showing the hero on Vodafone, guess that'll be taken down in due course. Not seen anyone offering the Hero/G2 Touch other than T-Mobile themselves. Are they a reliable retailer?

OK, emailed mobiles.co.uk again this morning, this time their customer services team and got the following responce:
Hello,

The hero has been withdrawn form the network Vodafone due to unforeseen issues.

If you have purchased the hero on a contractual agreement with Vodafone through our company, you will need to return and cancel.

Regards
I have replyed asking if there are any plans to or whether they think the Hero will be re-introduced onto vodafone in the near future as my contract doesnt actually end tile early september so i would be prepared to wait but looks like the answer will be a resounding NO
as for mobilephonesdirect they seem a credible site, there site looks expensive unlike some less trust-worthy sites. Also they have actual stores popping up (Nokia Store Locations - Mobile Phones Direct) around the country so dont think there should be any problems .

Finally as regard to Vodafone deals on other sites i don't think there should be a problem as these phones are unlocked. I think the main reson mobiles.co.uk have withdrawn are that they obviously have a working relationship with Vodafone being one of the biggest online phone retailers in this country and obviously dont want to upset them

There customer services are working very fast today recieved the following answer in regard to the Hero Vodafone deals being re-introduced

Hello,

From what I understand it could be a few months until it is reinstated on the network with our company.

Regards

Don't know whether to wait around until september when my current contract is up or try to upgrade with mobilephonesdirect to the G2 on T-Mobile now

So, who offers the best 3G coverage in the UK for those of us with an unlocked HTC Hero? Any opinions out there?

I'd be interested in peoples' experience on this. There were recently some UK 3G coverage maps released (see story here) but that only provide information on coverage and not quality of the network. The report showed 3 as having great coverage but I've had problems with their network (though it may have been my phone at fault - difficult to truly know!).

So if people have any information or experiences to share, I, for one, would be very grateful :)
