Most annoying N1 issues?

Here's my list (frankly, many are just Android bugs)

- Switching from 3G to Edge drops the phone connection
- The home screen pager dots are usually wrong when I unlock the phone (switching screens fixes it)
- Sometimes I can't see the unlock tabs when I wake up the phone from sleep. If i swipe the phone though, it still works and everything comes back.
- No NTLM support in browser
- No hardware way to end a call
- If you are on speakerphone, and have been doing something else while you are on the call (entering an appointment for example), it is difficult to get back to the phone screen
- thumbs inadvertently activate the touchscreen when holding the phone in one hand, tapping with the other, causing the screen to go crazy
- no landscape mode for home screens and google search widget
- battery drains over 50% overnight if you forget to plug in or don't turn off wifi/gps
- random apps can suck your battery without you knowing it, and there's no system way to stop it without uninstalling
- No droidlight without rooting
- screen is easily scratched

I think you've answered yourself with those two. The battery doesn't drop over 50% if you let the wifi in, and I'd say the GPS is only 'genuinely on' when on an app that requires it, like Google Maps.

- I had not experience the first three points on your post
-I dont (personally) care for NTLM
-I do miss the hardware buttons for making/ending calls
-I dont know how hard could it be to just drag down the notification bar and tap on the call, to go back to the call screen?
-That happens to me some times, i guess thats our fault(?) lol
-My battery has never drained over night, even with wifi on.. perhaps one of your apps is the one draining the phone?
-if you ever feel that you battery runing out of juice pretty fast, go to menue/settings/about phone/battery use... it will show you a "graphic" of the battery usage
-if you wanna stop an app thats draining your battery just go to menue/setting/application/running service
-i feel your pain, google needs to enable the light for other uses besides the camera!
-get a screen protector
:D

- No hardware way to end a call

Buy a Nokia dumbphone. Problem solved!

- If you are on speakerphone, and have been doing something else while you are on the call (entering an appointment for example), it is difficult to get back to the phone screen

Pull down the notification tray.

I don't like having to manage my phone this much - it should be smarter about battery management overnight.

Really? I mean, really? You set wifi and gps on and didn't turn it off and you're annoyed the phone doesn't automatically assume you want them turned off when you haven't turned them off. Wow. You ever used a computer? If my PC, which I've left to torrent crap overnight, decides that after 2 hours of inactivity my Internet connection needs to be cut and it needs to shut down, I'd be pretty pissed. Protip: machines do what you tell them to do, not read your intention through telepathy.

This.
Not sure why people leave the GPS and wifi on and expect the battery to last for days (or even days with them off, Modern smart phones last a day or so with constant email polling, widget updating, etc....) I have it off and with normal use i expect a day, maybe a little longer. GPS is a BATTERY HOG! no way around it. Off is the only way to make sure its not sucking juice. Wifi is the same.

I can say that none of that other then the thumb thing is an issue. screen scratches, that is every phone including the Iphone, yes it can be scratched I have a buddy who's screen is scratched from his keys. Power managment is your issue, just like on a PC. getting back to a call is as easy as hitting the home button and then phone.

my only complaint is that the frig'n home screen will not let you place icons anywhere you want!!!! it is driving me crazy, and needs to END!!!

The lack of a hardware end button and the touchscreen issues mean that I have to look down at the phone while driving, as soon as the call ends, which is pretty dangerous. Alternatively, I could keep the phone on, and wait until I get to a safe place to do this, but that is annoying. I also suppose the alternative is to buy a bluetooth headset, but that's expensive and I don't really want a headset.

Obviously, I have a different opinion of "what machines are supposed to do" than you do. ;)

The most common use case for a phone is mobile usage - not overnight usage. It's a pretty reasonable ask to have a checkbox that says "maximize battery conservation between the hours of X and Y". The experience where I wake up with your phone on 25% battery charge and were going to be away from any kind of electrical outlet, is not fun.

FWIW - if anyone knows of a good app that does this for free, please let me know - I haven't found one.
