Help Sensation prepaid?

So I was thinking about getting the Htc Sensation 4g on Craigslist for a good price. I don't want a t mobile contract so I was wondering if I could use t mobile's 4g data speeds. But, on the prepaid plan(like $50 a month for unlimited talk, text, and web) on 4g. Does anyone know how I could go about this? Where to get a prepaid sim? Thanks in advance!

Btw I'm new here, so if I broke some kind of unspoken rule, forgive me.

When you sign up for a prepaid plan, they will give you a SIM card for free. In regards to the $50/mon. plan, only the first 100MB of your data that you use will be received at 4G speeds. After you have used 100MB, your data speed will be reduced to 2G. Your data will remain unlimited mind you, but it will be EXTREMELY slow. If you plan on using the web for streaming music, video or taking advantage of your phones navigation frequently, then I would recommend a plan with a higher data limit. I am currently on the Tmobile prepaid plan of $70, which gives me the first 5GB at 4G speeds. After that 5GB has been used, the data transfer rate is slower than snail snot.

Since I use my phone as a WiFi hot-spot quite frequently, especially for use with Netflix, I decided to do a test to see how much data I used. So, instantly after renewing my $70/mo. prepaid plan with Tmobile, before I used any data for anything else, I connected my phone to my computer using the WiFi hot-spot feature and started a movie on Netflix. After 30 minutes of the movie playing, I stopped it to check what my data usage was. It was 355MB. So, 1hr. of WiFi hot spot usage at 4g speed=710MB of data. That equates to 11.83MB/min. I added up the total time of 40 movies that I had recently watched on Netflix and came up with an average of 115 minutes per movie, which equates to 1.33GB(rounded up) per movie.

I know that took a long time to explain, but what I'm trying to say is that you might want to think about a different plan that includes more data, even if you aren't planning on using something as data thirsty as Netflix.

I originally wanted that same plan as well. I went to a Tmobile store and they said they did not offer that specific plan at their store. It is a plan that can only be acquired at a Walmart or online. Not only that, but you have to buy a special phone for that plan. So your phone will not work with that $30 plan.

Not true, there have been plenty of posters with this exact setup, I myself will be able to confirm this next month.

I bought my Sensation 4G used on eBay, then purchased the SIM card activation kit from T-Mobile.com for $1.99. I activated the SIM card online with the $30 plan mentioned previously. You have to do it online, as the stores can't activate this particular plan. The Wal-Mart near me doesn't sell the activation kit any longer, so to get the $30 plan, you have to buy a phone from them. Maybe that's where the misconception that you have to buy a special phone to use that plan comes from. You can use ANY T-Mobile phone with the activation kit purchased from T-Mobile.

P.S.

I initially bought an activation kit from Amazon, but it wouldn't let me activate the $30 plan. Apparently it was an older card produced before the $30 plan became available and wouldn't work.

I use a branded Tmobile sensation on Simple Mobile prepaid. They use Tmobiles network, so I didnt even have to unlock my phone. I have unlimited everything including 4g speed (Non throttled after a certain point) for 60 bucks a month.
Not Sure if available in your area, but I really like it, and have no issues.

Yes you can! That is what I did for my gf. She had a crappy Samsung phone on Metro PCS. Got her a Sensation over CL then signed her up for the $30/month "Wal Mart" plan. Gives her 100 minutes of talk, unlimited text and 5gb of data (with tether) and no taxes to boot (in most states). I had to order the sim card from Tmobile directly which was $10 and included the activation code. Was a pain to have them understand what I wanted but works fantastic and I agree. Sensation is the best value in terms of phones on TMobile. Even has ICS now. All for less than what she was paying through Metro.

Same here the 30 dollar plan plus pbxes sip server means unlimited minutes and 5gbs of data, plus the plethora of custom roms on the sensation is incredible :D I'm really happy I made the switch

Oh and I went to the Walmart here to ask them about my phone and they said that it is not supported and if I did use their plan (Family Talk I think) I would not be able 2 use the internet, sorry but whats the point of a Smart phone if the internet isn't working :\

Bought my sim at walmart and I'm on the $30 5gb plan. People at walmart never know what theyre talking about

You can get Simple Mobile, which is what I am using wth my Sensation and it is only $60 a month for unlimited talk, text, and 4g data... Simple Mobile runs off of Tmobile's towers, so all you have to do is pop the sim card in and set up simple mobile apn and your good to go... You can see their plans and get a sim card from their website (www.mysimplemoble.com) or find a local dealer that deals with small prepaid companies, such as h2o and page plus
