Many of us (myself included) already have the unit. We are just waiting for the EVO 4G LTE to arrive/clear from customs.

If anyone has any questions or are on the fence about purchasing, ask here as well.

So me being a gadget-freak, all this talk about the media link is stoking my geeky OCD. But my question is, what is the advantage of having this link? Is it only to stream HDTV video and images to a TV?

Extremely easy....You plug up the power and HDMI cord up, set up what res your T.V. can handle! Then when you receive your phone connect to your Wifi and do the 3 finger gesture for the first time and the Media link auto config!

I know I wish I would have jumped on that Amazon deal when it was posted. I know I will end up getting it so I need to just bite the bullet, but it is so hard with a MHL adapter already.

Nope! Because it's wireless, and the manual tell's you the One series, Incredible 4G LTE (Verizon) and LTEvo are compatible phones! The reason you can't use it, is because like the 3D had a MHL to HDMI port that you plug in to the T.V. The new Media Link has two cords, power and HDMI to HDMI cord that you plug into the small Media link!

It wasn't specific to the Evo 3D, but you are correct. I'm interested in knowing more as well. Curious for curiosity's sake.

Besides hardware and software upgrade there is something different about the new one, however it is still DLNA certified I believe. I've seen the name thrown around too much for it not to be compatible.

Oh...ok! I thought you were referring to the model use for the LTEvo (HD Media Link DG H200) and could that work with your 3D!

Tech fly's! I like the ease of the new model (H200), use the 3 finger gesture and bam it's done! The 3D or previous gen one (H100) you have go in and manually do it! Which isn't a bad thing, and a question; can you mirror everything like the newer model!?

yes there is an older model. the newer model, Media Link HD, has an ad hoc setting that allows you to bypass your home wifi network, or if you do not have access to a wifi network, you can use the ad hoc feature and connect directly to the Media Link HD.

my current handset, the 3D, can see the Media Link HD's ad hoc network, so in theory other devices can connect to this new version with its ad hoc feature. you will not get all of the features as if you use it through a wifi network, but you are able to stream content in full 1080P (if the content is 1080P...if not the device will stream whatever the content is).

The DG H100 was a DLNA client in a box for TVs that didn't come with DLNA.

The DG H200 is wireless HDMI. Big difference.

This review complains about Netflix stuttering. And blames HTC. So, I think that with this unit, you have to consider your phone AND network. If you want to stream something in via wifi, then mirror that via wifi, you need to have excellent networking.

Maybe think of this like MHL -> HDMI except no wires into your phone.

excellent response EM (i expect nothing less from you amigo...),

ones wireless network is key. the DG H200, in order to get the best stream possible, will want to have control of a lot of bandwidth. if your network has several machines streaming bandwidth intensive video/files, this can aggravate the DG H200.

also ive read posts from other users stating the length from the H200 to the (in this case the one X) handset is good within the same room.

i would also suggest orienting the H200as high as possible in the location to avoid interference with other electronics. if you have a 5GHZ network (less crowded) this is ideal.

Is there software already available for the Evo 3D to use the (new) MediaLink or do you mean "theoretically" there can be software to exploit the new MediaLink since the Evo 3D can see the ad hoc network?

the 3D and potentially any other htc android legacy device can get an update to take full use of the media links HD accessory.

right now the the 3D can see the media links ad hoc network so it can at least connect to it using it as a DLNA box. using the 3 finger swipe on the 3D does nothing since the software is not in place to allow it.

Thought, I would put together some AF lub By using my tired OG EVO to do a video Unboxing of LTEVO Media Link I picked up yesterday at the Sprint store. I thought it might make for cheap entertainment while were all waiting on confirmation/tracking #'s. First time doing a Unboxing vid, Plz be kind Strictly entertainment purposes. Poked a little fun about the Apple thing and made sure it be known the "LTEVO" moniker is a AF thing

After quite a bit trial and error I finally was able to watch a Google Play movie via Media Link. For awhile I could not get much to play without it stuttering and stopping and throwing the audio ot of sync and dropping the audio completely. Finally set my router's 5GHZ settings to channel 48 and 20hz. Still getting occasional jitters and audio out of sync but it is better. I really hate to admit this but AirPlay is so much better. I think I will just use MHL any time I want to watch a Google Play Movie. Hmm I may still try a direct connection to see if that changes anything.

Having the same sound issues with apps and movies. Only the got to mess with it a bit so I am going to play with it in the am. I will let you know if I figure anything out please do the same!

also ive had no issues with streaming local files from the handset. have not tried netflix.

what you may want to do is get your MSL and go in and bypass sprints proxy servers. this is one bottleneck... ill try netflix later...

Yeah forgot to mention I originally had DFS turned on and it definitely didn't like that. Hmm i will bypass the proxies tomorrow. Good thought!
