My kid got a Tour that I'm jealous of.. jealous in the sense of nostalgic for my 8330 Curve.. weird mixed feelings about it all, Android software is superior to RIM by leaps and bounds. ... so..

I liked my Blackberry a lot and I enjoyed it when I had it. I don't know if I will ever step away from a full touch device again though. I really love my Eris and I think Android has a VERY bright future. I will be interested to see what the future and OS 6.0 or 7.0 bring to the table though. The new touch slider thing looks pretty cool too.

No.

I did like my Tour too. Much more fun now with Pandora, Shazam, internet much faster things like that. But as for email with my multiple Exchange accounts? BB is unbeatable. So yes and no. Wish I could just have my BB for email. I would carry two phones sometimes in that case. But I still have my Pearl and have yet to reprogram it.

I regularly switch back and forth between a BB Tour and Eris. I like both of them, they each do what I need and it all depends on which phone I want to use, if I've used one for a lot one day and still have things to do and need a phone quickly simple ESN change and the other phone is running.

I actually thought I would be doing that too but I haven't. I bought another battery to carry for those times, i.e. skiing, hiking, and used it a lot with 1.5. I think if I had a Tour I might do it more since the display vs. the Pearl is so much better.

Yourself. *228 option 1 to program. Make sure your other phone is off.

I loved the form factors of my blackberries, but I'm really loving Android. Can't say never cause who knows what will happen, but for now, I'm happy

Not sure, I like the possibilities of the Eris, but I seem to request functions a bit faster than my Eris can deliver. Accelerometer is so slow compared to what Im used to, overall speed seems slower too and unless we are talking about the native browser I still think my Storm did quite a few things better. Guess im hanging on in hopes that the official 2.1 will get rid of some of the issues im having. No Major problems, just expected more.

For me the biggie from the Curve to the Eris (well, I went from the Curve to the Samsung Instinct.. same reason though) was getting away from the keyboard taking up half of the phone where screen could be.

On-screen keyboard took a little bit of getting used to, but I'll never go back to a phone that has so much space taken up by a keyboard.

And no, I did not even contemplate the Storm.

You can do an ESN change online through your My Verizon account under My Services, then choose My Phone and click on activate phone. The *228 option 1 will faill out due to the change of the data package from Smartphone to Blackberry.

Heck no. virtual keyboard was harder to get used to but now I love it. Only thing I miss, maybe, is beyond 411.

Storm is great. I know there are some that had their issues some software and some hardware, but I got mine on day one and have NEVER had a problem. fast as h3ll and absolutley no lag, but I stayed with the factory OS until a leak came out then I was off to put together a hybrid. official OS, yeah not so great, but who says you have to stay official.

Caddyman posted something like that a while back, having "the perfect Storm."

I admit it was the posted problems in the Blackberry forums that caused me to not consider it or the Storm 2.

I may have been mistaken in my assessment of that device, and I do miss the Blackberry community a bit.. oh no.. now I'm going to be looking at the Verizon Blackberry Storm 2. What have you done?

No it won't. I've done it more than a few times. Unless they changed something in the past month or so.

yeah my wifes storm is real solid, nice and fast, no issues really. i am jealous of the mail handling and message system, universal inbox, etc. but it ain't no android though..

How's the web browser on the Storm (is her's a Storm or Storm 2, btw?)?

Every review I read of Blackberries, Tour, Bold etc, bears out my experience of Eris (even the Instinct) being quite superior to any Blackberry's web browser.

The native browser sux, but we have our choices, Bolt (never liked) and Opera. None can be set as a default like dolphin though. I can tell you that the browser is a LOT faster on the Eris vs the Storm on 3G. I went with the Eris cause it was a BOGO and the Wife wanted an Eris. So I decided to activate it and give it a shot and see what Android is all about. Dont get me wrong, I do like it and it seems like they are heading in a good direction faster than RIM. I think 100% that RIM's BIS outages have been caused by the Storm(s) and other devices (tour, curve, etc.) trying to get more consumers that are not all business, the problem there is that since all data needs to go through RIMs servers there is a big bottle neck.....until the webkit browser is released. I looked at the S2 and wasnt impressed. It wasnt better than my S1. More app memory, but thats it. The Eris is better in some ways and some ways not, but that might be just me needing to unlearn some bad RIM habits. Im giving it a try. thats why im here, to get learnt.

I could go back if I had to. The Curve 8330 was solid despite it being slow and light on features. If I was going to pick a new business-only phone it'd have to be a BB.

I had a Dare before this. Did have a G1 when I was with T-Mobile though.

I wouldn't ever go back to the Dare. Eris has too many features, custumization and so on and so on..

Now.. If HTC/Verizon came out with a Eris Duo, or Eris 2, or Eris Limited, or Eris Ultimate, or Super Eris (you get the idea)...

I love this phone as a toy. And it could work for work but outside the occasional battery pull my storm 2 is solid. Does everything I need and messaging is far superior. This phone is fun and does more stuff I "want". So I'd go back maybe I'd I had to only have one phone. Who knows. Have a storm 1 and pearl flip to mess with too. Flip will get some use when I need something light.

eris is my first smartphone. i don't think i'm going to go with anything else for a long time.

I actually still carry a Blackberry Curve 83501 along with my Eris (it's issued by my job). I still use the Blackberry for typing long emails, but, other than that, I use the Eris for everything else. The browser is much faster (stock or Opera Mini), and almost all the apps are better (although I still love Poynt, which is unavailable for Android).
