hi, i am new to this site but i have a really annoying problem that i hope you guys could help with. when I try and sent pictures through text messages with my samsung galaxy s2x, it usually takes 2-3 days for the pictures to send, likewise with very long text messages (for this i usually just brake them up before they are converted to a mms). also when i view pictures sent to me or the ones i am about to send, i see them as a 3-6 second video instead of a picture:thinking:.
I would much appreciate some help on this (preferable without having to text people links to my pictures) thanks :)

Edit: I figured out that the reason my pictures were taking so long is that i had my data packets turned off so i didn't accidentally use it, so that would prevented the picture from sending =D.

I just tested that and the send was instant with data on. now i just have to wait for ICS to fix the MMS MP4 bug. life is good.

Welcome to the forum!

With regards to your MMS issue, I have a silly question...

Are you sure that the images you are sending are JPG files and not video files? I ask this because if your camera is in video mode and you click as if you are taking a picture, you get a short video.

Regarding time to send. What resolution of image are you trying to MMS?

Have you contacted Telus to ask about slow MMS delivery? There may be an issue in your area.

no, they are definitely pictures, but good question.

The resolution of the pictures is pretty large, but my phone says that it compresses the picture before it will even let me text it.

I have not tried to talk to telus about this, but that might help, though I know of other people who have telus in my area and suffer no MMS lagging problems. Also, contacting telus doesn't change the fact that they are viewed as short video clips. Is this something that happens with all s2x's?

Edit: also the videos don't look like regular ones, the only time I see this kind is during this problem. makes me think it is how the phone is programmed or something.

I also have the feeling that it is trying to send 60 fps for the few seconds of video of my pretty high megabite photo

Interesting problem that I had not looked into for myself. I just sent a text and attached an image for the first time. I got the message that the image was too large... compressing. It sent the image and when I looked at the sent text, the image is shown with my message, but has a Play button on the image! If I press the play button, it shows the image as a 5 second video, with nothing but the image (no motion).

It seems that this is a problem with the SIIX default text app and MMS. It may be related to the compression changing the format of the image into MP4 instead. I will ask my brother (BB user) to let me know what he received on his end and figure out if the image is actually converted into a video format. One thing to note is that my text message was sent instantly, so the slow sending you are experiencing is probably something local, or related to your phone.

Have you reset to default to see if it makes a difference? (NOTE: IF YOU DO THIS YOU WILL LOSE ALL SETTINGS AND DATA!)

I have 2 bugs with my SIIX that are a pain in my side, this is now a 3rd, but I have been waiting to complain since ICS is coming early June. When it is available I will reset to default, erasing everything from my phone, then update and see if my problems are gone.

So... I don't have an explanation, but it seems that the defalt texting app has an MMS bug when sending images.

well that sucks... I'll probably just do the same as you and wait for ICS
