Discuss all Moto Droid Razr/Maxx HD rumors/release date/speculation/news

The speculation of a Septemper release date is prolly a better guestimate. As I did go with the Maxx after that whole "you're gonna lose your unlimited data unless you upgrade nao zomgwtfbbq" fiasco, I'm still gonna watch for the fighter. Can't wait to see how beautiful it is :)

So, what's your overall opinion of the Maxx so far? I saw a friend's and was impressed but I still feel that I should take another look before committing.

I didn't want to post off topic in the Fighter forum, but... I know your DX is close to its EOL, but ppl had battery door issues from the start. Motorola was replacing them for free. It's worth a try.

LOL, I screwed that up. I thought I was composing a private message, but I chose the wrong tab. Sorry guys. Back to fighter news!

Well..... I think 20 lashes with a wet noodle are warranted in this case. :D

Yeah I got my X on the launch date. Was my first smartphone and I followed the news since it was first leaked as the shadow. But no reason in buying a battery for it when I will be upgrading whenever the announce the shared data plans. Ad for the battery cover its from my original X that I bricked trying to root it so that's why it wont stay on but ut really just a minor annoyance.

I can't speak to all your problems but your battery problems are most like a wornout battery. Lithum-ion batteries are only good for approximately 500 chargings. If you got your "X" anywhere near it's original launce date, you battery has seen lots of chargings.

Best of luck,

FYI, You can buy a new Droid X battery on Amazon for like 4 bucks...

Should I believe the new member with 1 post who talked to someone at their local store?

LOL, come on guys, we are better than this.
A senior member here recently posted their report of a personal conversation with a VZW rep that contradicted everything else out there and the response was "He was just passing on what he heard. No harm in that..." Shouldn't that also apply here?

As far as the Droid Fighter name, hasn't that been seen in a supposed internal VZW document (http://www.bgr.com/2012/02/23/droid-fighter-and-lg-cayman-heading-to-verizon-according-to-leak/) and might the internal document referenced here then also use that name even if it ends up not being the name used for the public?

I don't think the potential impact of the Google-Motorola relationship and especially the pending ITC exclusion order regarding Motorola Mobility products stemming from the Microsoft claims has been mentioned. While MMI may say that these are not affecting anything, Motorola may be tightly controlling information regarding new devices that could potentially affect or be affected by those situations. This also may touch on the comment regarding the Incredible 4G as that release may have already been affected by a similar exclusion on HTC devices that has apparently dragged on much longer than expected. Unless someone similarly goes after Samsung, the Galaxy S3 may be the next major VZW phone release by default.

For many, whether it is June or September probably does not matter as much as knowing whether a release would be before or after it would affect existing unlimited data plans. I do not want to wait some time, in my case with an increasingly problematic DX, only to eventually find out that it will not be possible to wait until the the Droid Fighter/Razr HD release without also losing unlimited data.

this. I've been eligible for an upgrade since early april on my droid x and the only reason I haven't done it is this phone. Now its going to be a waiting game. Either I get the maxx (at cheaper than I would have paid. Can't complain there) or hopefully the fighter comes out before these new data plans show up.

I have a feeling this phone is going to be saved to go up against the iphone in the fall. Its starting to get that Bionic vibe. Hopefully they don't have a razr right behind it...

Seems very plausible. It certainly doesn't appear to be around the corner :(

This Galaxy Nexus is growing more frustrating by the day. I'm seriously considering re-activating my Thunderbolt until Maxx HD or equivalent releases.

What stands out to me is that all of the current Verizon Android and 4G models are several months old and have dropped to $199.99 or less, leaving VZW without any of the usual $299.99 with two year commitment 'flagship' Android and/or 4G smartphones That would usually suggest the imminent release of one or more new 'flagship' phones, yet there seem to no well supported upcoming releases, just all sorts of rumors.

At the same time, you have many coming off their 2 year commitments from the original Droid X release, a group that is greatly likely to be looking to upgrade to the latest technology.

Put those together and one would think there would have been a new flasgship Android 4G phone already released, which makes me wonder if VZW planned to have released the Droid Incredible 4G but those plans were upset by the ITC exclusion order against HTC. If so, then since the underlying Intellectual Property issue was apparently addressed that device might be released as soon as the customs side gets resolved.

If that is the case then it could be that the release of the Galaxy S3 and Droid Fighter/Razr HD will be tied to promoting the new data plans and/or countering the iPhone5 release. Unfortunately, that would likely make those releases after the data plan changes and it being possible to get a subsidized upgrade without losing unlimited data.

I really hope I'm wrong and the Droid Fighter is released or at least a release date identified soon, but I'm not sure that I can or want to deal with a buggy DX until as late as possibly some time in September with the risk of then either losing unlimited data or ending up with the same Droid Razr MAXX at the same price that I could get now. So I may wait a week or two with the hopes that something changes or is clarified by then, but can't justify waiting indefinitely.

Thanks!!

New article - no new info.

I'm waiting to see what the new plans are before I decide. I REALLY want the Fighter/HD. Thus far, even though I stream a lot of music , I could live with a capped plan. My concern is the video apps coming down the line. If I give up unlimited - I can never get it back.

Decisions, decisions.

Today is Memorial Day. Remember all the vets who have served, and those that are currently serving, so that we can have these discussions!!

However, I believe "this summer" is 6/20 to 9/22 so that apparently could mean a few weeks out or several months out. And the new shared data plans are also coming "this summer". The question seems to be how the timing of the two will relate to one another within that three month period. Still holding out some hope this will turn out to be wrong, but I am getting more and more of a sense that the Razr HD release will occur in conjunction with or after the new shared data plans going into effect.

After seeing the new blur with ics, I want this phone! Its gonna be hard to choose between the verizon one x or this.

Apparently, you like you Thunderbolt more than I do mine. The One X doesn't do much forme. Nor does the SGIII.

The only Moto I had was the "Q", my gripes were mostly with WinMo, not Moto. My wife has a Maxx - I want the Fighter. I am waiting to hear what the new plans are - then I'll decide. Right now, I have unlimited data - but - even thought I stream MUSIC like 2 hours a day on work days - could survive a cap. My concern is IF I Give it up - it's NEVER coming back. Gotta think that things will get more (rather than less) data-intensive.
