A couple of you asked about the Mugen Power 4000mAH extended battery -
since I bought it, I thought I would share a couple of impressions.

But first, let me describe how I run the phone:

- the latest version of Broken Out
- set to 1836mhz w/smartassv2 governor in AnTuTu CPU Master...
- 3G on / LTE off (no coverage here in the woods)
- BT moderate use (streaming media player to car and home units)
- WIFI on most of the time
- Sync on most of the time
- Auto updates in market - on
- Screen - AUTO

Usage: Many phone calls. Google lookups. Youtube. Streaming audio usage.
Lots of web usage for stock and news stuff. Some gaming...I would say moderate to heavy.

Typical day with STOCK BATTERY:
7am unplug - 100%
12pm - 69%
3pm - 40%
6pm - 17%
9pm - 3% - (charge)

Typical day with Mugen Power Extended Battery:
7am unplug - 100%
12pm - 93%
3pm - 83%
6pm - 67%
9pm - 52% (set to airplane mode at night)

...next day

7am - 50% (turn off airplane mode)
12pm - 40%
3pm - 30%
6pm - 10%
9pm - 6% (charge)

(If I configured Juice Defender on the phone, and ran it at 1512mhz - the above stats would improve probably to 3 days worth of charge.)

The battery door fits nicely - and it is fairly high quality. The battery does not get hot - and surprisingly, is not heavy. The phone is about as thick as an LG ALLY with this extended battery setup.

Overall, there are really no cons except the price - but if you are an average to heavy phone user - this might be worth it for you.

I bought it here.

I paid $79 on sale. Hope this helps....some of you out there thinking about extended batteries of any kind.

my only thing with an extended battery is trying to find a case to fit it. or maybe not a case so much as a belt clip. I really need my belt clip! Do you know of anything that will work with it?

With its custom back, it fits into something like this -

I am not saying it fits into this one. I was walking down the street in New York City, and they have these guys that have stands selling cell phone accessories on just about every block...anyway, after trying a few, I found one that LOOKED like the one pictured here that fit perfectly. It has not brand markings, so I cannot give you a clue as to who makes it. Sorry, hope this helps.

Wondering when D2A is going to turn around his BETA rom?

If I got a battery like this could you buy one of those belt clips off the street and and mail it to me? I would send you the money first.

As far as the rom goes death said it's probably going to be a couple of weeks before he releases anything.

nice! thanks man. I will certainly send you the money if you are able to find one. I think i will get that battery you got for sure. I've been really using my phone alot more lately and my battery just isn't cutting it anymore. I like to stream talk radio from tunein and it chews up the battery fast. I have to turn it off and play moon reader pro for the rest of the day if I want to listen to something.

just let me know if or when you have one and I'll send the cash on over. I'll give you a few extra dollars for your time and shipping as well of course.

UPDATE:

Now that the MUGEN EXTENDED BATTERY for my Spectrum has been broken in and experienced some full charge cycles, it LAST 4 DAYS! Unbelievable.

Broken Out 3.0 is running and I set it to Airplane mode at night around 11pm.

Whats the point of turing on airplane mode at night?
Why not just turn it off. Your not going to get phone calls or texts in airplane mode are you?

Because it all but puts your phone into stand-by, since apps and widgets can't get out to the internet. Turning your phone off and back on is the same as when you do it to your car: it wastes battery (though a car wastes gas). It's more efficient to put into airplane from 11pm-6am, than to turn off.

Using JD, I run airplane from 11pm-6am and literally 0% battery is used (based on what the icon and stats say) in those hours. When I leave with just wifi on, I'll use 2-5% overnight. Turning off and on *can* use as much as 1% battery, so there's a clear savings to me.

Thanks so much for your time and input. Mugen now wants 89.99.
with 2 kids playing games, I'll need it. Any games that don't require internet? Ages 9 & 7.

Maybe this is needed with stock battery I dunno.
I've been on extended Verizon battery since I got my phone and don't need airplane mode or juice defender. I get 28+ hours from 1 charge.

I went to the same place I got my holster to buy one for IMUcarmen - but they were sold out of them! At least I tried. :(
