I had similar problem with freezing. But my HW version is different. (ts6C)

Catty's ROM: I have the same white noise problem than others...

download software from unlock root for Android and with the help of this software u unlock root of every mobile in the world.and then u download the recovery from the link below, and then unzip them to a clean foloder and then click on reco.bat to start installation of your recovery.

after this install only catthy 62 rom (U960+MOD+2B03+v1.5.0+ib_Catty)
and then your u960 work well.

I downloaded and run the unlock root for Android but it failed to get shell root. Zte U960 is not in the list of supported devices.
Is there any other way to root the Zte U960?

1-your phone must be on and connect to the xp machine through usb.
2- settings>application>development>usb debugging(check mark).
then u download the recovery from the link below, and then unzip them to a clean foloder and then click on reco.bat to start installation of your recovery.

All existing rooting tools don't work with Android 2.3.5 and above. There is only one good way to unroot:
1) Install the Android SDK and all related drivers (works under XP, Vista, Seven) to have access to the device using "adb".
2) Ensure adb does not execute on the PC and reboot the phone completely.
3) When the phone is rebooted, dial *983*8421# so that the phone provides adb with root permissions.
4) Start adb on the PC
5) Now you need to do as the zergRush exploit, except that there is no need to run the exploit itself so just:
- install Busybox
- install su
- install Superuser.apk
6) Reboot and you are done, phone rooted.

Additionally, if the recovery is not there, once you are rooted, you can install/flash Clockworkmod recovery.

PS: maybe you can also run the usual root tools as long as adbRoot is started on the phone, but I have not tested this.

I finally do it, root and install a new ROM

For all having IMEI: 0, this solution works well and everything works as expected. The phone really rocks now (setup Supercharger V6)

I also restored my imei with qpts and then I have reinstalled version 2b06: now the phone seems more stable...
note: on my box I had to use build version 366 of qpts because the previous version don't work

Hi,
have anybody experienced problems with wake up the phone?
So can I use the alarm clock even if the phone is switched off?
Sometimes the phone is able to automatically switch on and generate the wake up signal, but many times (recently) were not able to switch on...
In my Lenovo A60 there is an extra menu regarding auto switch on if I push the Power Button...
Sw is 2B06, No Catty ROM

Anyone got any advice on how to proceede when i am unable to get the one click updater startede, nothing happens no matter how i connect the phone to the pc.
I installed the drivers that came with it and its a real pc running xp.

Is there some other drivers beside the ones that came with the one click installer that i could be missing ?

Edit: I just ran the driver installer once more and now the other devices showed up, i am in progress of flashing now.

I did all step above successfully and got Catty62 Rom. How I can flash the rom into the phone? (sorry, this is my first Android phone)

If you install titanium backup you can remove all chinese apps

I had the same... just removed all those unwanted apps with root explorer (in /system/apps) Be carefull to only removed well identified chinese apps. The important one to keep other than usual android apps is emode. Don't remove that one.

1-catty62 rom paste into your zte u960 sd card.
2-u960 into recovery mode.
3-in recovery mode u found wipe option.wipe every thing
4. then install catty62 rom through recovery option (install zip file from sd card)

Hi!

I had troubles with A-GPS on my U960, like not getting a GPS fix, or for example, Foursquare could not locate me, and much more, so I dug into the topic a bit.
I managed to fix it, and I think it might be useful if I share the fruits of my labor. (copy-paste-ing together a working gps.conf file from bits and pieces from various forums )

So, basically you just need to download the file from the attachment of this message, edit it a bit (see below), remove the .txt extension, and move this file to the /etc folder by using Root Explorer, replacing the file already there, and setting rw-r-r permissions for it. It is wise to backup the old file, just in case.

It is configured for Hungary, but it is easy to change it. Let me explain.
Open the file in Notepad, and at the beginning, there is this part:

NTP_SERVER=hu.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.hu.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.hu.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.hu.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.hu.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.europe.pool.ntp.org

You just need to change the "hu" and "europe" part to something that applies to you.
For reference, I recommend this page:
pool.ntp.org: the internet cluster of ntp servers
At the right side, under "Active Servers", there are the regions, and under the regions, there are the country codes.

Anyway I decided to edit this thread to make it easier to read, and more newbie friendly.


To have the phone updated you need:

A working XP32 machine and the drivers installed (either from join me sw or the ones included on the one click updater package)

Then :

#1 Download, decompress and install the one click updater (archive's PW is zte_u960)

#2 replace the file RF.ZTE with the one I've uploaded here

the file location is usually C:\Program Files\ZTE\DL_U960_CMCC_CHN_EU\version\) but the location could be slightly different depending on Windows' language and drive installation.

#3 Start the update process using the previously installed updater

#4 If the process went trough correctly (dial *983*154# to check your actual version) and the phone rebooted correctly, you can turn it off and reboot it in recovery mode (turn it ON keeping the power button and Volume UP depressed) and apply the update package I prepared to get the phone rooted and gapps installed in one step.

#5 you can (optionally) flash also one of Catty's mod kernels to get the 1.4Ghz overclock and init.d function (see the linked post), is better to wipe the phone after this step to avoid market problems.


#6 If, after the flashing process, the USB function of the phone doesn't work as expected (E.g., no USB storage available), you may need to use the set mode utility to switch it back to its original behavior. (select the option on the left and confirm with the button on the left)

replaced the root + gapps market package that had some problems with the market with the V2 (root + gapps/playstore), if you have already downloaded it, please redownload and reaply the update.

I received the file from Etotalk. The zip file loads from Recovery very quickly, has the gapps and OC kernel included, very little Chinese content and seems to be running fine without any adjustments so far. I had previously been using Catty62's ROM (and it was excellent) and this new one seems just as stable.
