Help the Downloads app is missing, how to find downloads?[answer inside]

I bought a few songs on google play via credit witch went through, but there are no were to be found. Neither the google player or stock media player it comes with. What am I doing wrong? And whats the easiest way to transfer music from my computer to my LTEVO?

MOD NOTE: Here is a solution to this; its found in this thread however I am going to add it here:

Found a solution on Sprint Community

1. Launch ES File Explorer
2. Run AppMgr
3. Select Category; Under "Select types" click "All"
4. Find the app you are looking for and do a long press on it; "Operations" will pop up, pick shortcut.

You will now have a shortcut for the hidden apps.

Plug your phone into your computer with the usb cable, then select Media Link.

Once the pop up opens, choose "open device to view files". Then open the "Phone" folder. In here look for either the music folder, or the downloads folder. The music "should" be in either of these. If it's not, search around in here and see if you can locate it.

If you want to transfer music to the phone, just open the "music" folder referenced above and drag and drop in here. :)

Speaking of Media Link. Is there a Win7 64 bit driver? Mine always fails at install

I plugged my phone into my Windows 7 X64 rig and it loaded right up.

Give me a hot minute and I'll check and see if I can locate any drivers.. :)

EDIT:

I located the HTCSync update for the El Tevo. I'm not sure if
this will solve your issue, but it's worth a shot. :)

Granite...
Just wanted to confirm that instead of
media link you meant HTC sync possibly?

I've been trying to use dropbox to
transfer music but can't figure out how to
move it from the dropbox app to the
"Music" folder.

No Problem. :)

Let us know if it works.

Still an error loading the MTP driver.. Hmm.. You got me on the right path though, so I will dig deeper and check back if you have other suggestions. then for good measure got a nice BSOD after updating HTC Sync.lol

well i think I got the MTP. I had some old HTC Sync, so after removing, I went through my registry and deleted anything HTC related. However now when I use HTC Sync, I get the BSOD with Bad Pool Header. Onto my next troubleshooting. Thanks for the help. Working IT, it is nice to goto someone else for help occasionally.lol

as is usual with Android, you need a file explorer app. ES file explorer is tops for me.

I know what a file manager is. That's not what I was asking. I had asked ,"Where if the Downloads App Equivalent?" ... But, thanks to a mod changing the title of the post, this is where we're at ...

Anyway, with the EVO 4G and Inspire you don't. HTC (or Google?) at least provided you a basic way to view downloaded files.

Asus Transformer Prime came with it's own file manager and has a separate downloada app.

File managers are fine.. But, there are a lot of people who will be buying these devices, or using Android 4, that won't know anything about file managers.. .

Just would have been nice to have included something basic.

Anyway, thanks.

I was a little surprised that some files just seem to go where they belong automatically without me doing anything...

For example:
I had several ringtones on my old phone I wanted to keep and due to my lack of skill  I didn't get them onto my new phone the way I probably should have after activation. I ended up taking them off my old phone and putting them on my pc and then emailed them to myself. When I opened the first email I thought I'd have to save each ringtone to the right place within the phone but I couldn't find a "save" option in email, and after a little bit of frustration I saw that they automatically showed up in my ringtones list.

The same thing happened when my daughter sent me a picture in a text, later I noticed it had appeared in my gallery without me saving it. It's cool and a little annoying at the same time. Now every time I get a picture - if it's not something I want to keep I need to go delete it from my gallery.... but I can live with it now that I understand what's happening :p

Oh, and in keeping with the topic of this thread, I use Astro file manager.

I noticed it too. I got a phot, long prpessed and selected Save to SD Card. Thought for sure it would goto Downloads. Actually I am not sure where the photo went that I downloaded, but like you it shows in my gallery.Just checked details and since I use Handcent, it put it in the Handcent folder on my SD Card. Interesting.

**edit**. Just noticed Stock and Handcent put them in the internal storage. Camera put them on external SD. Will have to check for a setting somewhere. Email app put them on External. If you look at the photos in gallery. Click on one. Then click on it again when you only see one photo and select More-Details. If it says SD Card it is internal. If it says SDcard_extsd then it is external. Going to check for Save settings.
**Update**. Goto Settings-Storage-App Storage Location and Update all to Storage card(if you want). Tried messages again and it saved to Downloads on my MicroSD Card. This way all your downloads should goto one folder from email app and stock text.
