Galaxy Note's ICS Availability in Pakistan

Greetings,
Hope you're all doing good. I wanted to know when exactly are we Galaxy Note users in Pakistan getting an android version update of IceCream Sandwich? I'm talking about an official update, not the leaked ones. Right now I'm having 2.3.6 android version. Would love to upgrade it to ICS.

I had an another question in my mind. I've seen people using ICS on their notes and are talking about degrading or rooting back to their previous versions. Why is that so??

Would be very kind of you to help me out with the questions.

Thanks,
Addie.

No-one knows when areas without ICS will get it. Samsung have not laid out a schedule so we only know as it arrives. There can't be many places left to roll out to though.

As for all the various issues the experience seems to be wide and varies and an issue that affects some will not do so for others so perhaps some apps are more battery hungry under ICS than others, some background tasks more processor intensive.

Just take a look around this forum and you will see the posts of people's experiences and then can make up your own mind.
I'm not going to let any of the posts bother me. I want my update (UK doesn't have it yet either). If any issues I encounter get really terrible and the batter usage logs don't show much I can always uninstal the bulk of my apps and add them slowly until I find the culprit(s).

Just don't delete too much, because until the permenant bricking problem is fixed you may kill your phone. I got offered ICS this morning and I refused. I will not install until I know for sure that the problem is resolved.

I'm sure removing games and so on won't brick it. It would only be stuff that I had downloaded that would be considered.

Removing or uninstalling any large app or item can cause a brick on ICS. The eMMC brick issue can happen at any time, usually it only happens when deleting a large file, uninstalling a large app, or doing a factory reset on ICS. Doing any of the above is completely fine on any Gingerbread rom though.

Deleting a large file causes brick and it's considered a stable release? I am sure that cannot possibly be correct. Do you have links to back this up?

I am aware that there have been issues and I can understand something like a factory reset but not file deletion or uninstalling non OS critical applications.

I would suggest reading both of these. It applies to leaked ICS, and official updates to ICS from Samsung. (All ICS kernels for the Note are affected.)

It doesn't affect everyone, but there have been several people who have bricked their Note's. All it takes is a read through the general section on XDA and you'll see all of the problems. It's happened to several users on stock ICS, and rooted ICS roms.
