I thought that pressing the camera button with the display off was supposed to wake up the phone and activate the camera app, but when I press the camera button, nothing happens. Is that the case for everyone else?

Glad others have the same issue. The manual online says you should be able to press to turn on the phone. Not a deal breaker, but glad to know mine isn't defective.lol I saw that you can drag the camera app to the lock screen to open. I guess once I put a password on it, that will help skip a few steps.

I'm not really that good with all the technical mumbo jumbo... But... This camera is amazing.. And from a regular customers standpoint.. It is the best I have seen and I owned an iphone4s for a week(needed to see what all the hype was about) and IMHO this camera is way better.. And definitely better than any camera I have personally seen/used.. And that is what's important to me.. I'm not big on the specs... I just want to see the performance.. And to me this camera delivers and lives up to the hype.. Once again this is my opinion...

I agree. Just started messing a bit with photos of my niece. Love all the effects. I really like the "Depth of Field" to bring her forward and kinda blur the rest. Grayscale is nice too. Will have to try others, but this camera is a beast. :)

i have a question, apologies if it's been answered already.

1. has anyone had a problem with having pictures come out blurry because the camera is autofocusing too much? i've found that the shutter often goes off right as the camera is refocusing itself and the pictures are coming out blurry.

I haven't shot a picture that wasn't worthy of a save yet... And I have pretty shakey hands... This was a huge issue on the 3vo for me.. So many blurry pictures

Pics are still washed out but i'm not really surprised coming from HTC. Definitely better than they were on the 3D but not impressed with the quality at all.

You and HTC phones just don't get along.

The picture thread and the handful I've taken show no signs of being washed out.

I guess that is to prevent you from accidentally taking pics! If you are a person who roots (which I am) I'm sure a rom from multiple devs will have this feature!:D

I don't see why they left this functionality out. The proximity sensor could be used to sense if the phone was in your pocket and disable the camera button from waking the phone and taking accidental photos. I was really disappointed with this missing functionality.

Maybe that will be enabled in an update? Who knows.....

I find it interesting that some people aren't thoroughly impressed with the camera... I have been taking tons of shots with confidence since day one... I am still amazed... I seriously still haven't taken a bad picture... I've taken close ups low light.. High light... Far away... Still amazed.. It is ridiculously fast... You literally tap the shutter button and boom... Picture taken

Could have something to do with the phone they came from. If your last phone had a pretty bad camera, the EVO LTE is going to be like light and day. Whereas if you came from a phone that already had a really good camera it may not be as impressive.

I think you'd find a lot to like about this camera.

Some things stand on their own merits and comparisons become secondary.

This camera seems to be one of them.
