Hey, I have a question. I was looking on lg's site and they list the vm696 elite with corna gorrilla screen protector. I've got my ov laying next to my elite and the screen does appear to be glass. My question is do we even need a screen protector for this phone? CORNING

Need? Not sure. But mine was always smudged before I got my screen protector, I was constantly having to wipe it clean. It doesn't look quite as sharp now (it is an anti-glare protector) but it looks better than when it was smudged to heck.

Good point! I still have the protector that came on the phone and it smudges Pratt bad . I may have to grab a good one. Thanks for pointing that out.

Just search Ebay for Optimus Elite Armor, thats the case I just bought and love it. It is almost OtterBox like in build, just wish it had a clip. I haven't been able to find one with a clip yet.

Go to lg.com under phones look for lg optimus elite and it says it

Go to the LG website and look at the specs. Straight from the LG website, doesn't say Gorilla Glass Screen, but a Gorilla Glass Screen Protector.

Edit: Was looking at the Wrong phone. Duh!
It did say the screen was by Corning, with a Gorilla glass screen protector. I guess I'll have to google "Gorrilla Glass screen protector".

Had to go to Corning's site and checked out a list of LG phones with Gorilla Glass. No mention of the Elite, but, I also didn't see any mention of the screen protector. The site isn't updated very regular.

Just went there and I still so no mention of it having Gorilla Glass. Saw a couple of phones displayed around it that had Gorilla Glass screen protector. Checked out the specs and everything they provided for info on the Elite.
No mention of Gorilla Glass, usually means no Gorilla Glass
Maybe you can link to the Page you saw it mentioned on?

It doesn't say it on the sprint version, but follow the link I posted, and you'll see it on the the VM 696.

Just curious, where are seeing that the screen is Gorilla Glass? I thought the jury was still out on that.

It's on lg's Web site . I hit the Android tab then the optimus phones tab.

I thought it had gorilla glass myself too, but I haven't taken off the protector that came with the phone yet.

If they are calling the plastic screen protector "gorilla glass", then I want a refund cause after 4 days it's already scratched up pretty bad.

I bought the phone because of the gorilla glass it said the phone has on the LG website, but the LG website is also wrong about the speed of the CPU.

I ordered some more protectors anyway, just in case, but I'd like to know for sure if it has it or not.

They are referring to the actual screen itself, not the plastic protector.

They say gorilla glass protector as a sells gemic, it's made be Corning but just the same as another protector

I got a rather nice case out of a flea market for my MT. The slot in the side is perfect for a US penny or dime. Why break your nails? My OV had a rubber case. Both had ZAGG Invishields. I would rather spend money protecting the glass against harm, (from junk in my purse) and get a cheap case. Than the other way around!

@variant- I just got the same phone case and I love it, I like the back cover how it's clear with a design

Also I have a brandnew glossy carbon fiber plastic never open, if any one is interested let me

That's bothersome, but they did give a link for the LS696 (which I believe is the Sprint model) instead of the VM696 which is the Virgin Mobile model.

Or they are blind or whoever created the datasheet and website listing was misinformed.

FWIW, I just called LG at 1-800-243-0000 and asked if the LG VM696 had Gorilla Glass. A woman assured me that this particular model does have Gorilla Glass.
