Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Congrats on the new apartment Stigy! We've been strongly considering moving. Problem is, since we first started renting this apartment, almost 4 years now, DC rents have gone up so much more. Also, we love our neighborhood and there isn't a ton for rent around here that is in our price range. Plus our place is SO tiny, but since we're not here much, it isn't a big deal.

It's just very frustrating living around my area besides taking public transportation and we both drive due to the traffic of the Lincoln Tunnel and just the amount of people in the area.

It takes my girlfriend 45 minutes to get to work where it should only take 15-20 minutes at the most. I have to add 30 minutes onto a commute anywhere I go that involves going near the tunnel and the roads are horrible and congestion is just getting worse. Plus all of our friends live near where we are moving now and we barely see them as it is so it'd be real awesome to start hanging out with them again and not having to worry about the 30 minute drive home after.

Yikes. Yeah, DC traffic isn't as bad as NYC, but it's still pretty bad. Especially if you're coming from the suburbs. I've seen the rush hour traffic coming from VA and I just shake my head at those people. What a way to waste your life.
I take the bus to work, and while some nights I have to wait a bit, it's still pretty good.

Like the chief, I'm newly rooted.

Should you do a backup before downloading these updates?

I would always recommend a Nandroid backup! Every time you change ROMs (and if you don't frequently, I'd do it once a week) it's important. If you don't like the new ROM, or something is broken, it's a cinch to go back to where you started. :D Perhaps the best part about rooting.

The new boot animation in AOKP b38 is better than the previous ones in my opinion. The unicorn is still there, but smaller. I honestly don't mind it.

The scrollable widgets thing is amazing. They do great work!

Missed my chance to get it downloaded before work. I often have problems downloading large files through Chrome and have to switch to Firefox. Anyone know why that is?

I'll still use the browser version for my PC but this is great on my Nexus. Is there a way to sync your favorites to Tapatalk?
Your subscribed forums will show up under favorites (I think) but your Favorite forums in the box on the left of the homepage don't sync.

Should be automatic.
Subscribed threads are automatic, and you can use the Participated tab to see all of the threads you have posted in. That is what I use most often.

Should you do a backup before downloading these updates?

Adjuster, that's the #1 reason to root: making nandroid backups of your phone's entire current state before doing ANYTHING fancy to it.

YES make a backup before flashing or upgrading a ROM.

YES make a backup at least weekly as a maintenance thing.

YES if you DON'T make backups I will come through your screen and personally scare you half to death! :D
