Android 2.3 & 4.0 WiFi Internet HD 1080P HDMI Google TV Box ARM Cortex A9 Firmware

ICS.MBX.20120422
After I selected 1080p I started AnTuTu Benchmark.
The result was smaller then 720p.
I think it's that because build.prop has this: 'ro.platform.has.1080scale=2'
And your firmware has same string too.

I installed your 201200603_Android_ICS-ATV-108-c03ref
At first it loaded, the master started, I choosed some setup, but after I started work it stopped (no any reaction).
And after rebooting the situation was as schaum wrote - 'It seems to hang on the VPlay animation.'

About ro.platform.has.1080scale=2, I never played with it. It came with Amlogic sources. It's related to screen resolution and screen density. (see set_display_position.sh and reset_display_position.sh under /system/bin)

About box not booting, seems overclocking to 900 mhz was not such a good idea... will update today with original kernel image...

hmmm is there any way to unbrick this device without linux and only Win7?? I have the same situation as Lazoid did before but he has unbricked it succesfully...

thanks for your help

About Lazoid, I created recovery card for him, uploaded it on the web (it's not online anymore), used WinHex to write raw image to sdcard and then he recovered his device with that. PM me, we can arrange something similar.

Hello Stane!
You've done a great work.
In firmware 4-23 i had the Italian language, but now in your rom there is no more.
Is it possible to put all languages?
thanks

It is, but system would be too big. I will add Italian language to setup for next buid.

@Everyone: Any other language to add?

If you can add Arabic Lang it will be Great.
And about not booting yes it is seem that 900 mhz is not stable, because it is randomly happening some time it is running and some it is not.

I'm on it :)

Update:

I localized a bug regarding 1080 resolution and VideoPlayer, should be fixed now.
Languages added to build: French, Italian, German, Arabic, Greek, Russian, Romanian and Bulgarian.

I removed overclock hack, seems that people do have problems with 900 MHz....

Need native speakers of those languages to do translations for apps that are not translated. If you want to volunteer for this, PM me with your mail address, I will send you xml files to be trabslated from English.

TO EVERYONE HAVING ISSUES RUNNING AT 900MHZ, THIS IS WHY!

http://s10.postimage.org/huhn6vqrd/photo.jpg

the atv-108 cortex processor gets HOT! really HOT! and if yours was like mine, there was no heatsink installed on it from the factory. this is fine at 750mhz, and even 900mhz in Gingerbread, but not with ICS. so i added some heat sinks i bought from amazon.com.

Amazon.com: Combo-Pack of Premium Self-Stick Heatsinks - 2 mini-Copper Heatsinks and 2 1in x 1in Black Anondized Heatsinks for General PC use and XBOX 360 RAM ANA and Southbridge Cooling by XBRdepot: Computers & Accessories

My atv-108 runs great at 900mhz. no issues. but my heat sink gets hot. it even gets hot at 750mhz. the heat sink will bring more reliability but it will also do one other thing for you. longevity.

most electronics factories have changed over to a lead free solder. this lead free solder has an annoying habit of growing small metal whiskers when its super heated or when sparked repeatedly. so without a heat sink on these devices, you are eventually going to suffer from a problem very similar to the Xbox red ring of death. so if you want your box to last, ADD SOME HEAT SINKS TO IT! it helps in the short term but will also help in the long term.

I'm not quiet sure that this is the only problem. I don't have heat sink on CPU or memory, and runs at 900MHz like a charm.

Back from work now. Box has not booted but rather frozen on the VPlay animation.

@stane1983: looking forward to 2012.06.03 build with no overclocking ;-).

I'll test it on my box and let you know how it goes as soon as it is made available.

Spanish language would be nice to have too. I can do the translation if required, just let me know (PM).

Little late for that now, it's already building, but will be included in next build :)

I will prepare XMLs with instructions and upload it to sendspace, so everyone can do translation to their language and will post here.

I don't understand, which firmware are you trying to install? If visson's last firmware, then link is:

Download 4-23 4.0firmware.rar from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

If you want my last firmware link is:

Download 201200603_Android_ICS-ATV-108-c03ref.zip from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

In both cases if you're upgrading from ICS.MBX.20120225, you have to follow this procedure:

1. Extract all files to root of your sdcard
2. Unplug your device from power
3. Insert your sdcard in device
4. Use paperclip and press reset button on back side of box and keep it pressed
5. Plug the device to power and wait for front leds to blink 3 times then release reset button
6. Wait for firmware to install (ignore invalid parameter and mac error you see)
7. Unplug your device from power and repeat step 4 to 6 (otherwise you will get scrambled picture on your tv output, nothing more)
8. Unplug your device and plug it back in. Wait android to boot (first boot takes some time).

If you want test, go with ICS.MBX.20120422 and then switch to my firmware and give me some feedback.

On my firmware, use 720p as resolution, there is small bug (actually major bug, but easy to solve) with 1080 resolution in MoviePlayer.

I updated FW to 20120522 , but still when i play you tube videos , i frequently loose connection to display (Sometimes display shows "this resolution is not compatible") After FW update , system selected the resolution 720p by default. I didnt change Video output settings.

Is there any fix for my problem ? Sorry for troubling , but i really love watching the You tube in MBOX..........

there are standards for hdmi cable types. version 1.3, version 1.4 etc. so you may wanna check that you have compatible cables and hdmi input on yer tv. 720p by default is normal. that happens for us all, i think. but chances are if it works some of the time then its a software glitch.

Now i am on 20120603 FW and Component cable instead of HDMI. Tested Video playback for nearly half an Hour (From SD Card) without any problems.....:)

Hope the problem is solved...........

Hey stane, any updates on the Netflix issue? Have my logs helped at all? Is there anything more I can do to get this fixed?

For now you cant. Wait for my next fw release, lets see what happens. Did some changes, and kernel is not overclocked anymore. There should be some improvements.

Btw, you ever tried netflix with wired connection (LAN cable)?

Link to firmware:

Download 201200604_Android_ICS-ATV-108-c03ref.zip from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

@grindinonyourm: Check netflix behavior over cable with this firmware, should be much better

Netflix ran about the same as before. on ethernet or wifi, it drops stream and blank screens after about 5-10 minutes. this is gonna make me crazy tryin to figure this out...imma start digging through my logs and figure this out. the elapsed play timer in netflix still runs erratic, at about 2-3 seconds for every real second. then it stops running, but the video continues. then finally the streamm cuts out. its like netflix cant count seconds properly.

2012.06.04 firmware boots OK on my box.

Tried a couple of videos (mkv) with both DTS and AC3 audio.

Both working apparently fine :)

Mapping network shares using samba is also OK.

Can VideoPlayer handle SRT subs? If not, does somebody now of other recommendable players that can?

I'll keep an eye for releases to come. @stane1983 keep up the good work ;-)
