Favorite Apps for the HTC EVO 4G LTE

Many of you have gotten a chance to kick the tires a bit, now how about posting up some of your "must have" apps and/or recommended apps.

There are lots of apps out and it would be nice to see what fellow EVO users are using.

So far I have downloaded and installed:
JeFit - great workout app
Astro - file manager

SMS Backup & Restore - works great was able to back up SMS off OG EVO and move to new EVO
Pixlr-o-matic - highly rated photo editing app
FoxFi
MyBackUp Pro - did not work in backing up my Shazam tags..
HTC Flashlight

By far and away, my favorite app on this new phone is the "Music" app. I was a PowerAmp/WinAmp guy on the OGEVO, but this new music app kills it. After having messed around with it for a couple of weeks now, I really love it. I initially just dumped about 5 GBs worth of music on my SD and was interested to see how it would all be sorted and arranged. Wow, was I pleased with what I saw. It's very intutitive (unlike the infamous "i" music program). I really like how it organizes your music (and other music related apps) and how it explodes/shrinks albums down grapically. The incorporation of SoundHound is crazy too...one click and you're watching the lyrics auto-scroll in front of you on most songs while you're listening. Along with beats Audio, HTC killed it with this one IMO. Well done! Adios PowerAmp and WinAmp (with it's stupid placement of the delete button that they never fixed..always fun deleting songs accidentally).

iTunes??? bahhaaahhhaaahaaaa...what a POS relic (they actually have iTunes classes at Apple stores...lamest program ever)

Oh yeah, Let's Golf 3 is insane on ELTEVO!

I do like the new music app and I am trying to use it but unless I am mistaken there is no options or settings for it. I dont need a lot just some simple changes I would like to make am I just overlooking a menu somewhere?

No one mentioned the Amazon App store. They are still offering a free app per day, and all of the free ones I had from the Old Evo are available on the new one.

I liked Amazon until I realized two things.

1.) The free app of the day isn't free. A Dev worked hard on it, and he's not getting anything for it.

2.) It's just not worth the resource drain.

sweet!! thx

didn't know this existed. saw a thread on XDA that some guy wants 100k to start working on something like this for Android so I assumed it did not exist yet.

can't wait to try it. downloading now

There are actually several apps out there like this for Android (like Siri). The ones I know of are:
Skyvi
Jeannie (Voice Actions)
Vlingo
Eva
Speaktoit Assistant

I've tried Skyvi, Jeannie, & Vlingo - they all have their pros and cons; my brother swears Eva is the best but I haven't tried that one. I still have Jeannie installed just because it's amusing, it's still a work in progress - but it's free entertainment when I'm feeling bored :D

I can't seem to find it in the market... Only the add on
Foxfi is not on the market because Sprint banned it. Co-worker found out the hard way when Sprint locked down his LTEVO Acct. Sprint informed him they are charging for Hotspot feature and any data usage over 5gb limit. Now he is stressed big time. Google
"Sprint data overage bill" Getting a sudden monster phone bill sucks.
Pay the $30 bucks IMHO. :)

Mentioning illegal apps w/o a disclaimer or fair warning...not cool IMHO :(
I would hate for a member get nailed like my co-worker did. (just say'n)

These are my top apps. Note that (P) = Paid app, (F) = Free, and (S) = Requires a subscription.

Games

- Draw Something (P) / Draw Free (F) - The bigger the screen you are using, the better this game becomes.
- Fruit Ninja (P/F) - Same reasoning as above.
- Worms (P) - A great strategy game that operates beautifully on this device. The controls are still difficult though.

Entertainment
- Netflix (S) - You know what it is.
- Redbox (F) - You also know what this is.
- Hulu Plus (S) - And this.
- Music Junk (?, legal?) - Play or download music
- Flixster (F) - See upcoming movies, trailers, showtimes, and find theaters.

Productivity
- Tasker (P) - The most valuable app on my phone. If the LTEvo couldn't use it, I would have abandoned it. This allows you to fully automate everything you want on your device. It is the greatest app that has ever existed.
- SugarSync (F) - 5 free GB and completely automatic syncing.
- Wave Launcher (P) - Great if you don't have root. A great way to add capability back into the device and work around the diminished softkeys.
- Quick Settings (F) - Great if you don't have root. When paired with Wave Launcher it's more convenient than going to notification bar>settings>etc to get where you want to go to change various settings.
- Vlingo (F) - Great if you don't have root. When paired with Wave Launcher it's even better.
- Mobile Fax (P) - Turns your phone into a fax machine.
- Our Groceries (F) - Essentially a universally available (Android, iOS, RIM, etc) grocery list app.
- PhoneMyPC (P) - Remote access your PC. It's been a long time since I have recommended this app since the Dev was dishonestly promoting it for so long. But I can't deny how useful and usable this app is.
- Chrome to Phone (F) - Allows you to send a webpage on your PC to your device. Works with both Firefox and Chrome.

Stock App Replacements
- XScope Browser (P) - I can't say enough goods things about it.
- Handcent SMS (F) - Fantastic and convenient SMS popups!
- WidgetLocker (P) - A wonderfully customizable lockscreen replacement.
- Amazon Appstore (F) - Great alternative to Google play, particularly if you have a family that you want to access the same list of paid apps without registering the same gmail account to all phones.
- Beautiful Widgets (P) - Great if you get a non-Sense ROM or you want a sense-like weather/clock widget on your widgetlocker lockscreen.

Other
- Foxfi (P) - Wireless tethering without root! See above post for concerning info.
- Tablet Talk (P) - Connects your android tablet to your LTEvo, allowing you to text via your tablet.
- Tapatalk (P) - Easy and extremely user friendly forum app.
- Wifi Analyzer (F) - See the available Wifi connections around you, as well as their strengths and channels. Very helpful for setting up a home wireless network.
- Pips (F) - Allows you to set a small notification sound that goes off at the top of the hour.
- Tesla LED (F) - Flashlight app. Fully integrated with Widgetlocker and Tasker.
- MyBackupPro - The best phone app and data backup software available IMO.

Thought i'd mention a certain app that, while not supported by the EVO -is- in fact free of charge and it works fine.

I just got the ICS update on my Xoom tablet yesterday, found out this particular app worked if you jumped through a hoop or two to make it work (not compatible with our devices so the app store won't show it) but it works and works pretty well.

The HBO Go app was released for the Kindle Fire and while I don't have one of those devices I am a paying subscriber to multiple premium channels and we've been dying for a way to watch content which we legally have access to on something other than a pc or laptop or one of those dreaded ithingies.

Not sure if the disclaimer is needed here but be advised this is not supported by our device so use at your own risk. If the mods feel this is acceptable i'll post a quickie tutorial on how to get it.
