Hiya guys and gals, just wanted to drop in and say hello... hello! :D My new job has kept me busy (IT manager for a medium-sized medical office... yep, just me), as has my hobby (working on a new helicopter, as if I needed another flying machine), as has my phone (Galaxy Nexus and the one-way audio issues). The latter has really exhausted me mentally, so much so that after checking/posting/crying in 2-3 threads on the forum, I just didn't have the energy to come over here and check in. I've made peace with my Galaxy Nexus, as Spousal Unit reminded me that I'm eligible for an early upgrade in October. If 4.0.4 really didn't fix the issue for me, then I'll simply deal with it until October. The Nexus will be less than a year old still, so hopefully I'll get a decent amount of money for it to help offset the cost of the new phone. I've really liked the "pure Google experience" and I hate to go back to MotoBloat, but I've got plenty of time to figure out what I'm gonna do.

Anyway, the new job is going well. The medical office I work for is around 100 employees in a central office and 4 satellite offices. There's plenty to do but I'm not overwhelmed so it's a good balance so far. I'm also being exposed to technologies I've never had a chance to mess with, such as SAN management and working with virtual servers. Having the Internet at my fingertips, as well as premium support for all of our products is peace of mind. The fact that's there's no on-call is icing on a very tasty cake. :D

We were very fortunate... I was a little worried that I wasn't going to find a job. The medical office came through at the last minute, which meant we were able to use my severence and retention bonuses from the bank to pay off bills (both cars and the credit card) rather than live off it. I realize I'm very lucky... there are still many people that lost their job with the merger who have yet to find a job.

I've also become tired of being fat so I got myself back on my bicycle. Spousal Unit was inspiration as she enjoys running and she's training for her first race (a 5K in July). I've only been riding for a few weeks and my stamina is quickly coming back. I'm up to around 8 miles/ride and I'm trying to ride 4-5 times a week. My goal is to ride around 10 miles/ride, 5 times a week. The Strava bike app is working very well on my Nexus too - keeps track of miles, time, speed, elevation, etc. It's more accurate than the speedo/odo unit that's on the bike!

Finally, the aforementioned Spousal Unit and I turned our screened-in porch into an outdoor living room. We're VERY happy with the results and we did it without spending a ton of money too. Check out the pics below... they were taken with the Nexus on the Night setting. I've always been very pleased with the camera on the Nexus and these pics are no exception. The last pic is one of my cats... he was hanging around the edge of the fence that night and wanted to be in on the fun. Enjoy!

Wow, good-looking pictures, and good-looking new room! Thanks for sharing.

So, thanks to Chief and Unforgiven, I got my OTA done! I had to replace the recovery.img file (thanks so much Unforgiven for the link!) and it worked perfectly after that. I have to root again, but no biggy (I hope!) :)

BB and everyone - grats on hitting 15K! Wow, this either shows how popular the Nexus still is, and/or we just have a bunch of talkers...lol.

Off to do some rooting!

VERY NICE, Lucky! We did something similar a couple of years ago, and we absolutely love it. The cat REALLY loves it. We joke that it's HIS room, he just lets us use it.

I like it a lot. I'm debating on jumping back to AOKP just to see how it's going since I was last on but I really hate doing the full set up. :(:D
Ditto that. Plus, I have no issues with Liquid, so I feel no need to switch and have to go through setup all over again. I don't see a huge difference between AOKP and Liquid anyway.

Not once but TWICE this evening my phone just went DEAD. Stone DEAD. No response at all from the power button. Just a black, dead screen. First time it's happened.

My only solution has been to pull the battery and re-insert it, powering it back on.

I'm running AOKP b38 with the kernel that came with it. Nothing fancy. No power governing within the ROM.

So (a) what's causing this issue and (b) how do I fix it?

Chief:

Some phones don't like Faux's kernel (AOKP's stock kernel). A) no for sure answer. B) Download and flash LeanKernel stable. Let me know how it goes.

Just a quick hello, we are still in Dallas, nieces graduation was today, she has become a delightful young adult, such a pleasure! It's been a whirlwind few days with a few more to go before we head back to NC. Any of you who have moved away from the part of the country you grew up in and go home for a visit know what I mean. It's great to see family and friends but boy is it hectic. Dallas has changed so much in the thirty plus years I have been gone, our nexie saved me with Google Navigation and street view. What is apple thinking?

Well, look at that... more issues. Can't even access the internet over wifi at my HOUSE with the phone right now. Gee, when I want info I guess I need to wait until the phone is ready to give it to me. :roll eyes:

Had to reboot my phone. Kind of dumb if you ask me. Guess the razr has connection issues as well. I wonder if big red can actually handle the 4g service.

This whole situation with verizon with their data limits and the nexus has left a sour taste in my mouth

Sorry all. Most of my latest posts have been nexus bashing. Guess I'm just venting.

No worries. We're here to help if you need it. Not sure what's causing your problems though.

Morning everyone! Since we just hit the 15K mark, I'm curious to see who the top posters are? I forgot how to look it up within a thread, can someone let me know? :)
