Where to send hate mail to AT&T

We need to bombard AT&T with emails until they give us ways to put google back as our default search provider as well as allow us to install untrusted apps. While we are at it we might as well ask for the ability to shut of motoblur as well as remove the bloat-ware. Does anyone know an upper tier email address we can send these emails to?

Edit: contacted motorola instead and they are sending me to tier 2 tomorrow. Im going to request they contact AT&T about this lockdown nonsense because they will lose anyone who knows anything about android as customers, seriously this is an insult to the open source nature of the OS... not that they will listen anyway. If my iphone didn't go through the wash I would never have had to get this over the desire that is coming out soon.

I'm not so concerned about Yahoo as the search provider (i just go to google.com anyway). I do think there are some execution issues with ATT and Motorola. Bad show by ATT with Yahoo, and Moto with 1.5 version of Android. I'm searching for apps and can't find them I'm guessing due to 1.5 of the OS. That sucks as a new Backflip owner.

However, I'm not buying into an Apple/ATT conspiracy against Android just yet and here's why.

If I bought into an Apple/ATT conspiracy against Android, why would Motorola be involved? Afterall - it's their handset and reputation that will pay the price. We wouldn't buy Motorola again would we? Motorola is kicking butt on phone design. The Backflip is a cool ass phone. They didn't spend all that R&D money to be a pawn of ATT - They are smarter than that.

Second, if ATT intentionally lets Android fail then they are screwed. They would be saying to Apple, you can do whatever you want with us since we can't field an alternative to your OS. We will give in to whatever you demand on your cost structure because we have no choice. Why would they do that!?!?

The lady I talked to over at motorola was completely shocked when I told her that Yahoo was the default search, In addition google apps are listed as the main navigation applications on motorola's website so as far as I can tell they werent aware this was going to happen and werent consulted. In addition they just make the phones Im sure they dont care what the carrier does to the software after they buy them from motorola

If Motorola was truly blindsided by the use of Yahoo! as the default search engine then it could be possible that when they port in the 2.1 system they could easily fix that too. All we can do at this point is wait and see. Personally, I'm enjoying the phone just the same. It's an awesome phone that everyone wants to see and play with everywhere I go!

I think the lady was surprised because the lady has no idea about what you are talking about.

Motorola does care. They are not just moving headsets. This is their reputation on the line. They stop moving headsets when issues like this go unresolved (at least with the 2.1 upgrade). It has to be important to them.

I wouldnt really get my hopes up. When 2.1 is released, its released to the carrier first for there approval. If att wants yahoo search as defaul it will be the default search. What I am hoping for is maybe an option to change which povider to use. Att could get there money from yahoo for shipping the phone with it as the default search, and we can have our choice of search engine. Whatever happens I still like the phone and search won't get me to replace it just yet

I am loving the phone, and I don't mind the motoblur all that much. Seeing as how you DON'T have to actually use it. It is freakin awesome that if my phone is stolen I can go to the motorola website and tell my phone to delete everything and/or track it via the website. Which is badass, in a VERY scary way.

I agree with tae_254. I don't care that yahoo is on the phone, I just want to change it. I set google as my default homepage as well. I just would like to use that little search button on the side of the keyboard. When you go through the Apps management page, it shows that google search is there, I am assuming its very integrated with the system, but its still there.

So I am hoping that Motorola and MAINLY AT&T hears us and changes their tune on how they handle the OS and remove the limitations when 2.1 comes.

Like how to even to access the media player, the link is called AT&T Music, as if to force you to think you have to go through them. that really just bothers me as their customer. They have all these extra apps that you have to pay for, when there is already stuff out there for free that people can use, that are probably even better. I have no need for AT&T navigator. Its stupid that people should have to pay for that on an android phone, when you have google maps to do that for you.

Exactly. But i have come to learn to expect that from AT&T. Each blackberry I had comes with the same bloat-ware. What i did was, since the backflip comes with 5 home pages, is put all my apps i use alot on those home pages and i rarely have to go to the screen where AT&T has all its trash.

I really cannot wait to take full advantage of this device. Once it is rooted or 2.0 update comes ether way will be bringing more to users.

I absolutely love this phone. It really reminds me of a nokia communicator from back in the day when a phone with a whole keyboard was revolutionary.

I love this phone, the screen looks like mini ipod/phone. The keyboard is very nice. Overall a nice size ratio. The only thing I am worried is the keyboard is well the back of the phone. The keyboard is also membrane type in construction. Good for cleaning but im not sure how well it will hold to rubbing my pockets all day. Phone feels very solid in construction.

With phone designs. I love the backflip.

Not to worried about the exposed keyboard. I do use a holster type case. Anyone going naked with the phone? Id worry about screen scratches. Its plastic uunlike the iphone

Just get a slip case if you are really worried about that. I keep mine in a pouch so no worries for me.
