First go to the ZTE Warp forums and give aenoch thanks. I just used his tutorial and modified it for our Prevail. Also download the DFS Software in his original post. http://androidforums.com/warp-all-t...ur-msl-prl-not-cdma-workshop.html#post4474168 The DFS software is a free demo version, but it works perfectly fine, doesnt have a time-limit trial (like CDMA WS), and is much easier to navigate IMO.

If you are on CT Mod 3.75, you DO NOT need to change roms, the hidden menu has been put into CT Mod 3.75. Thanks Bloodawn!

As always make a backup in CWM. Youll really need to do this since you will more than likely need to change ROMs.

Download and flash Half Ass Rom. Make sure you do a wipe. http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...2-rom-gb-2-3-6-halfassrom-1-0-stock-ext4.html Thanks to Kouma for Half Ass Rom.

After flashed and booted up, go to the dialer and dial ##7678#, enter MSL, then select DM mode.

Connect phone to PC, and open DFS.

While the phone is in DM Mode, its good to make sure the screen stays on.

After the countdown screen, click on the "Ports" button (top left) ScreenHunter_06 Jun. 06 18.51.jpg

Then double click on SAMSUNG Android USB Diagnostic Serial PortScreenHunter_07 Jun. 06 18.53.jpg

Close the DFS Port Manager Window.

In the SPC box (top left) enter your MSL number, then click the blue arrow next to SPCScreenHunter_09 Jun. 06 19.09.jpg

In the Log, it should say DEVICE UNLOCKEDScreenHunter_10 Jun. 06 19.09.jpg

Click the "Programming" tab, then click the "NAM" tabScreenHunter_10 Jun. 06 19.12.jpg

Backup PRL by clicking "Read" then "Save" (bottom right)

Click "Load" then navigate to a PRL saved on your PCScreenHunter_10 Jun. 06 19.15.jpg

When you have selected a PRL you want, click on the red "Write" button.

In the Log, it should say OK.

Last step is to click the "Reset" button (top right). YOU MUST DO THIS FOR IT TO WORK!

Your phone will reboot, and you can check that it worked by going to Settings, About Phone, Status, and see that you are on the PRL you selected.

Make sure you go back into the dialer and ##7678#, MSL, and change your phone back out of DM mode.

Now you can go into CWM and restore your backup of the ROM you were on (make sure you wipe) and the PRL will stay changed.

I take no responsibility if you brick your phone, or anything bad that may happen, but everything should work fine if you follow instructions.

Awesome bro. Glad you got that sucker made. I know this will make a lot of people happy.

LOL. Monster told me about this method. I thought you guys would like it and could get it to work on the Prevail since I got it to work on my Marquee so easily.:D:thumbup:

If I find anything else that I think you guys can use I'll shoot it your way too.;)

glad you made this, i was having a pain with trying to make screenshots, then little man woke up. I'm kind of wondering what the point of backing up the previous prl, but thats probably only cuz im coming from a downloaded prl anyways, not the boost one.
i might be wrong but they are saying backup, meaning a cwm backup of settings and where you are now so when revert back to 2.5 to change prl you can restore to get back to now and phone will be the same as where you left off but diff prl.

nah, even in aenochs it said to backup the actual prl itself, in case something goes horribly wrong. but I have a bunch of zips with prls so I dont bother with that step.

I do know the cardinal rule "ALWAYS do a CWM backup". Funny enough, I have been on a hunt to find a way to switch prl in ctmod without switching roms. Finally gave up and went this route, backed up my currently fine running system, went back to a rooted image, switched prls, then restored. Now my restored version(ct 3.6) has NO Wifi (just sits there scanning, never even shows available networks) and my PRL put me on data roaming (YES ACTUAL roaming, wont let me make calls, but shows a roaming SID/indicator on the top and in the status section, and puts me through to a different carrier when I try to make a call) so I cant use the 1.5/3g. bleh, story of my life. back to the drawing board

i am on the stock one that came with phone and have never even played around with them. i live in south central fla and works great just have a dead spot here and there. so i have never needed to try anything different. if it ain't broke don't fix it!!!! lol. and when try to make better always a consequence with anything in life.

yeah hear ya there. I used to be in a metro area and it worked great, so no need to mess with prls. Then I moved to the middle of nowhere with tons of dead zones so I started messing with them. In my case, I hardly see much difference just a few different spots I'll get service but nothing crazy. Still hoping I'll find "the one" but in the back of my mind I know that ain't happening.

man, sorry about that!!!! but think if dead spots for anyone anywhere fooling with stuff won't make a difference. there is a spot here that is like 10 mile diameter and all co workers have no service. sprint, i phones , nextel, verizon, laptops, ect.... no matter what you try to do it ain't gonna work. just the way it is!!!!!!

I know it's in these threads somewhere, but call me lazy...

How again do I get that MSL?

never mind...
did you just call or how did you get it and i think you can get it this way but have to be on half ass rom to get into dialer menue to do this. anyways how did you get it??
C&P From Kyouko ( Thanks )

Before doing this make sure you have aLogcat. You can get this from the Market
Also its easier to find your MSL if you go into alogcat and "clear log" before doing these steps.

First off I'll start by saying I have tried this on my phone , the official sprint update..

Anyway, I came across this screwing around a couple months ago when I wanted to reset my PRI, and apparently it still works with 2.1 roms.

Before
doing this make sure you have aLogcat. Also its easier to find your MSL if you go into logcat and "clear log" before doing these steps.

**Refer to the attached picture if you get lost**

  • So step 1 is to go to your dialer and enter ##DATA# or ##3282# which will bring up the EPST menu
  • Once the menu pops up just select "View Mode"
  • At this point you will see a screen with 3 selections.
  • From here either press and hold the Home Key and select aLogcat if you ran it before, go to your tray and run Logcat.
  • After opening Logcat it will update, once it finishes press "Menu" and "Pause" the log.
  • Then scroll until you see a group of entries labeled "I/EpstBroadcastReciever" which should be green
  • Locate the line that has "MSL Code=" at the end of it
  • Edit: Or press Menu and Filter "MSL" (thanks wjason)
And there you have it, your 6-digit MSL code without ever calling sprint or using a computer

nah its mostly a boost/sprint dead zones. Well actually its a mountainy area where one side of the mountain is vz land, one side is tmobile, over here is sprint, over there is att etc. just a general PITA.

oh yeah I second "Get my MSL" simple couple second app kind of deal. Super easy for the noob types especially.
