I think the amount of people who go for custom roms, freezing apps, overclocking etc etc suggests they want more from their phone. Microsoft invented "pocket pc" but what we have now is the actuall pocket computer. So yes the specs need to catch up!
yes. absolutely true. But no custom ROM developed (so far) would perform any differently if more than 1g was available.
Freezing apps, I don't know why that would need more RAM.
And overclocking... Does this require more RAM? I personally down know what to do with the 1.5ghz I have.
But we can only do so much multi-tasking on a phone anyway because of our own limitations, with the limited windows (1 and now 2 on a phone's desktop at the same time) (if we can't see it, we forget it. It gets too confusing).
And pocket computers. Even my 320gb powerhouse, 1.73ghz Pentium (.23 more than my phone) Gateway Laptop only has 3gb of RAM. But you may, maybe possibly, need that as the number of windows you can work on at the same time can be many, with each one doing an infinite number of processes.
This kind of demand can't he possible on something that you can fit into your pocket.
You would have to play two or three high-speed high resolution 3-D graphics video games, and talk on the phone at the same time, to slow down even just 1gb RAM.
Okay. Maybe not. Then you might need 2.
Then again, if they start selling enough phones with super-RAM, I guess they will build games much more complex, which they will have to sell for much more money, which will be tough because the people with those capable phones are broke because the phone cost $800 because it cost more for the 2gig technology...
Unless.. Maybe it would be cheaper to figure out how to better manage the RAM that's already there than to add to it. Which would be what, faster processing capability?
Oh. They decided 1.5 was fast enough in a phone, didn't they? Hence, we overclock so that we can... what...have more impressive benchmarks?
