My phone just recently got a virus when I downloaded an app. For some odd reason I recieved a messege in my notifications bar saying another app had been downloaded to my home screen. Being my ussual self I waited for MY app to finish so I could delete the OTHER app, but when I pressed home my screen was black and a messege kept popping up saying that an app had crashed. Now I can't access the phone without it crashing and showing a black scrren

I've already tried:Volume Down+Home key+Power button
I've tried connecting it to my computer to run a virus scan
I've already tried going to the settings but nothing works!

Please, I need help ASAP!!!:(

Can you even get to settings? If you've already done a soft reset by pulling out the battery and putting it back in and that didn't help, then you may need to do a hard reset. This can be done in menu/settings/privacy. If you cannot get to settings because your phone is crashing, there are other ways to do a hard reset.

I read this from the following website....Remember this will wipe out ALL your personal data on the phone and maybe the data on your SD card.

I can't get anywhere past the home screen :( And I don't want to take my phone to Sprint cause if I can do it at home it's better than paying for it

I don't think Sprint will charge you if all you want to do is a factory reset. You can always call them and ask. Just remember that a factory data reset will wipe out all the info on your phone so BACKUP anything you feel is important.

If you want to do a factory reset yourself and you can get to your dialer try this...

Performing a factory data reset using dialpad

  1. Warning ~ no turning back after key in.
  2. Bring up dialpad.
  3. Key in *2767*3855#
  4. Finally, SGS2 will be rebooted and factory data reset.

If you can not get to the dialer screen then try this instead...

Performing a factory data reset using phone buttons

  1. Turn off SGS2. Remove the battery, wait a minute, then put it back in.
  2. Press and hold down Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time.
  3. Release all buttons when you see SGS2 Logo.
  4. Android system recovery will be loaded then.
  5. Select wipe data/factory reset. (Volume buttons to go up or down, select with Home button)
  6. Select Yes — delete all user data.
  7. Finally, select reboot system now
