Due to the overwhelming response in this forum regarding the new Share Everything Plans, I have decided to do some research, and prepare a guide with everything that you might want to know regarding the plan, and what your options are going forward. This information comes from the Verizon Training Guide.

Plan Basics:

Monthly Line Access Fee – This is what you pay for each device on your plan. Included in this fee is access to unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and free hotspot usage for any eligible devices (uses your data allotment however).

Smartphones: $40
Basic Phones: $30
Jetpacks/Netbooks/Notebooks/USB Modem cards: $20
Tablets: $10

Monthly Account Access Fee – This is basically what I refer to as your Data bucket. Its how much data you will be allotted per month that you share among all your devices.

300 MB: $40 (One Device)
1 GB: $50
2 GB: $60
4 GB: $70
6 GB: $80
8 GB: $90

This continues on up to 30GB, adding $10 for every 2 GB more you want. If you want 20GB, $150, 30GB, it is $200.

If you go over your data allowance, you are subject to a $15 per GB charge. Let me make a recommendation. Verizon provides free text messages with data usage warnings when you hit 50, 75, and 100% of your usage for the month. If you are on track to use more than your allowance, and don’t have the ability to cut back, call Verizon, and bump your plan for that month. You can always call back the next month and have it reduced if it was just a fluke, but this simple action will save you $5.

**Special Plan Pricing: There seems to be one special plan included under the Share Everything plan structure, for extremely low data users with a smartphone. This still requires unlimited minutes and texts, but has only 300MB of data added for $40. So for a single smartphone user, the total plan cost would be $80. But I am not 100% clear on this plan, so please contact Verizon CSR if you are interested. This plan is only valid for a single line.

Extra Details:

Here is some extra details regarding the implementation of this plan for New and Existing Customers.

New Verizon Customers:

**ALL New Verizon customers will be forced onto the new Share Everything Plan. Even single lines must use this plan. This means, that for someone moving to Verizon to buy a smartphone, they have no choice but to buy an unlimited minute and text plan. That means that the minimum plan price on Verizon for a single line new customer with a smartphone is $90 ($40 Line Access fee + $50 for 1GB). *(Unless the Special Plan pricing above is valid, and then you can get a 300MB allowance for $80 total)

Existing Verizon Customers:

For existing customers, Verizon is not forcing you to change anything. You may keep the plan you are on, with the data features you have, etc (With the exception of unlimited data when upgrading at subsidized price). Here are some extra details applying to existing customers:

Corporate Discounts:If you switch to the Share Everything plan, your corporate discount will only apply to the Account Access fee (ie Data Bucket). It will not apply to the Line Access Fee for each device. So if you have two smartphones, and a 4GB data bucket, your discount will be X% off of the $70 Account Access fee, and you will receive no discount for the 2 $40 line access fees for each smartphone.

Special Account Pricing or Discounts: If you have a special discount (ie $9.99 Data plan, double data promo, etc.) you will lose it by switching over to Share Everything.

Add a line: If you need to add a line, you are free to do so without having to transfer to a Share Everything plan. If you are adding a smartphone line, you will have to choose from the old tiered plans (2GB for $30, 5GB for $50, etc.) - Thanks Doit2it

Unlimited Data:After June 28th, you can no longer retain your unlimited plan when buying a phone under subsidized pricing. Also you will lose your unlimited data if you switch your plan over to a Share Everything plan. But here are some extra details on the unlimited data feature treatment.

You may KEEP your unlimited data IF:
n You buy a phone at full retail price from Verizon and add it to your line.
n You buy a used phone from a third party and add it to your line
n You buy a CPO phone (unsubsidized) from a Verizon Store location which offers them.
n You upgrade at the subsidized price on another line, then transfer that phone over to your unlimited line. (However you cannot transfer your upgrade from the unlimited line to another line, this will cause you to lose unlimited data).

Buying a subsidized phone means you WILL lose your unlimited, however you are NOT required to sign up for the Share Everything Plan at that time. Instead you may choose to be signed up for the 2GB for $30 plan.

Also, if you decide to give up your unlimited plan, and buy a subsidized phone, but change your mind and return it within 14 days, you WILL be able to get your unlimited data back.

I hope this information answers any questions you have about the new Plans.

After doing this, can you then transfer your upgrade from the unlimited line over to the line you used the upgrade on?

No. To use an upgrade, even if you transfer it to another line, means you are renewing your contract on the original line the upgrade is coming from. This would remove unlimited data for that line.

I have 3 phones on my account - one unlimited data and two basic phones (no data). However, if I buy a subsidized smartphone for one of the no-data lines (since they are eligible for upgrade), will I HAVE to have a data subscription on that line? Even if I'm not going to use the smartphone on that line?

I know that this is OK at ATT but I don't think VZW lets you get away with it...

Verizon requires a data package for any smart phone.

You are correct, you are not allowed to have a smartphone without data. However, here is what you can do.

Upgrade the dumbphone to the smartphone. Then immediately re-activate the dumbphone. Then activate the new smartphone on the unlimited line. The data package is not required to maintain your contract, AS LONG AS YOU BOUGHT THE SMARTPHONE FROM VERIZON DIRECTLY. (3rd party sellers have their own terms, which usually require the data package to remain on the line for a period of time or you will be charged their ETF.) Therefore by reactivating the dumbphone, you can cancel the data package.

Oh wow! So I could simply NOT activate the smartphone (instead re-active the dumbphone) and therefore, keep my unlimited data and not have to pay data on the new line??

Thank you for your help! That's awesome!

Hypothetical...

What if you are an existing customer with a single line unlimited data plan and decide to upgrade at the subsidized price, are you forced into the share plan pricing, or can you choose one of the current single line tiered plans?

Or is that what you are saying here:

Well you will need to activate the phone on the line you used to upgrade, to complete the upgrade process, but you can immediately reactivate the old one.

I have confirmed that this is incorrect through personal friends, calling multiple CSR supervisors, and also asking on Twitter myself.

I have also found multiple people ask on Twitter this exact question.

I suppose it is possible that Verizon has backtracked since publishing the training guide due to the outcry. But the training guide specifically states what I put. I will follow up on this.

The couple of CSR supervisors I spoke with said that the training document was incorrect. They just received training the morning of when I called and this specific question about new customers was touched over.

Of course they could all be full of it like always but I'm going with what I've heard from every single Verizon related person I've talked to. It also just doesn't make sense that Verizon would force people into 1 plan only. They would have ZERO individual lines which they make the most money on.

Alright, thanks for the heads up about this. I will change the post later when I can get to my PC.

In my case they would make more if I had to go to the shared plan. My bill would go from $90 (450 minutes unlimited txt/data) before discounts to $110 (unlimited calls/txt 4GB data) to cover my data usage...

Cares- After investigating it more last night, I am going to put an asterisk. The tweet you linked to shows what you are saying, however there is another set of tweets a few hours later which says the opposite.

Man this is confusing. Please help me sort through this. I have the orig HTC Incredible, its over 2 years old. My wife has an equally old dumb phone. I have unlimited data, a work discount off my line, (actually its my wifes work and we my phone listed under her name @ verizon) and the same work discount on my data, and about a year ago verizon sent me a text saying I could get another $10 data discount, so I called and they did. (they had no idea why, neither do I). So you can see I pay very little for data. And my wife pays none.

We both want the new HTC incredible 4g LTE, but of course don't know release date.

I know I need to get a new phone before the 28th if I want a phone subsidized for me. I was going to preorder the Samsung G3, but now it ends tomorrow, and I wanted to wait till the 21st to see if inc 4g comes out. So I will wait and see. If it doesnt come out, I will get whatever phone has highest resale on ebay. Then buy outright the inc 4g when its out.

Do I have the above info correct?

What about my wife? Can I still get her unlimited data? Or what should I do with her? Are we better off having her get an old smart phone off swappa/ebay and activate it and add data OR get a subsidized one thru big red? IF so, I think I would have her get the rezound, although she wants a smaller one like the inc 4g.

Sorry for the long post! I really appreciate you guys helping me with this! I don't post a lot, but I do read and learn a lot on these forums! Any advice on this is GREATLY appreciated!

As far as your line, you will need to upgrade prior to the 28th, it seems you know that. I am not sure the 17th pre-order end date for the SGS3 is accurate, and you can be certain that will be the highest resale price phone.

Regarding your wife's line, there really is no hurry, upgrading her line before or after the 28th won't make a difference. She will be put on the 2GB plan either way. So if she wants the Inc 4G then she can wait until it releases, and purchase it subsidized at that time.

If I remember correctly the June 17th pre-order end date was mentioned by a radio-shack employee.

When I chatted with a vzw rep they assured me that there would be no "black-out" between the end of pre-orders and the official release.

So if pre orders end the 17th, that is also when regular orders would start. Or pre-orders won't end until the phone is released in early july.

I personally would trust a vzw rep to know better than a radioshack employee what vzw is doing.

My guess is the 17th is the end date for pre-orders on all other carriers that are releasing this week. Those lucky non vzw customers.

ok how about this.
I have 5 phones on the current plan. 3 are smart and two are dumb. My wife has a dumb phone and is not sure if she wants a smart phone. If we upgrade her before the 28th we keep current plan and she gets her 2 gb for 30 bucks. IF she decides to upgrade after that magic date, are we stuck to the shared data system or can she just choose to stay with our plan and pay the 30 per 2 gb?
I do not want to force her to get the smart phone but also I do not want to be shafted by a too late decision on her part. The new share plan would cost us an extra 70 bucks before taxes based on our current plan and data use so I do not want to end up in that bracket if we can avoid it.

Same as red97xj... They won't force existing customers onto the Share Everything plan, so she would get the 2GB for $30, no matter when you do it. No reason to rush her :)

Very confusing. I currently have 5 phones. 4 are smart phones. 3 have unlimited data, 1 has 4 GB -only 4g phone....the others are 3g only. (Last one is sons "dumb phone").

Just did a check on data usage for past 6 months. Highest usage by one phone was 1.85 GB. Taking highest usage of all phones, max was 4.38 GB data. Currently pay about $340.00 for everything (700 minutes/unlimited texts/$30.00 each data phone.....)

If I wanted to switch plans, and wanted 10GB (which would seem like enough....), I would be paying $290....? (Plus taxes....)
