Greetings -
I have several questions to ask. But first a bit about my current situation.

We, fiance and I are on verizon black berries. We hate them. We are due for upgrades in July and are making plans for new phones. We want androids/droids/HTC. Im not understanding the difference just yet but Im willing to learn.

We have one google account to share google calendar with two phones. So he can update the grocery list via his phone and my phone will sync and i can get the new items to purchase. We have 12 shared calendars within this single account, for the house the kids all the way down to what's for dinner. Blackberry is having an issue with a phone updating an event, it won't update the other phone because it believes it is a duplicate. The only way to by pass this is to remove the program, reinstall and resync. Hate BlackBerry. We figured since google is the software for this phone - its going to work.

So knowing what we want the phone to do - do you have a recommendation for the phone (verizon) and if what we want is possible? Or do we just suffer with Blackberry until someone figures out we need to work together and not apart.

Does anyone know of a program that will allow me to manage my contacts on a mac?

Thanks!

Er, what you're doing seems like a counter-intuitive *********** to me. Why not have two different accounts but share a calendar? Not that I think it wouldn't work (never tried it, so), but at the very least since Android integrates Google across everything, sharing one account across two phones--if you can even do that--will mean you'll share everything else--e-mails, contacts and all.

Does anyone know of a program that will allow me to manage my contacts on a mac?

Setting aside my opinion that Macs are overpriced pieces of crap, what do you mean? Contact management in Android is done by syncing to the cloud, i.e. your google account, completely independent of your PC's operating system.

Thanks folks for the replies.
1) im a mac user, it suites my business needs. I'd prefer if you kept your personal feelings out of my ideas of what type of machine i want to use. The simple answer would be, no i don't know what type of program could be used with a macintosh/apple.
2) We tried the two accounts and he could not edit my events nor could I edit his events. With one account being created specificially for the sharing of the calendar, the sharing of emails doesn't really matter. If someone wants to invite 'us' they send their invite to our collective email address.
3) IOWA, don't post stupid things. If i wanted to go low tech do you really think id spend the additional 30 a month to have internet. let along so much cash on a phone. I could go back to chalk and sidewalk too.

Real help would be awesome here folks not judgements -
We need to see what each other is doing, I want to find someone who has done this before I drop several hundred dollars on new phones.

Your kind responses are appreciated.
Thank you

You mean you're so computer-illiterate you don't know how to use gmail? That's a new low even for a Mac luser.

Check your calendar settings, sweetie.

Hey man, that was a real reply. Sometimes, it's just easier and more efficient to go low tech. Honestly, it seems like your asking for a world of trouble here, and more pain than it's worth.

Whats for dinner? Text Message.

Need to send a grocery list? Well that's what text messages are for.

Just about EVERYTHING you just asked for, can easily be solved with TEXT MESSAGING, and GROUP TEXTING. Either that, or set up a twitter, get the twitter widgets, and your good to go.

(And the next time someone gives you advice, don't bite their head off, they may not help you next time.)

Oh, and i'm pretty sure 99.99% of people use the internet on their phones for something other than what you want to do with it, and assuming *I* should know, what *YOUR* doing with *YOUR* internet, is just plain silly.

-Regards

Dude, chill out.
I agree, grainysand chill out.

Regardless what OP uses as a pc, every member on here should be given the common courtesy and respect one would like to receive themselves, if a poster cannot accept that little concept/universal rule then their stay here will be short lived.

To sync using Android, you dont need any PC or MAC specific application.

You can just easily sync it to the Google service via your Android phone.

And of course, you can directly edit your Google services using web browser on your Mac :)

That's what I understood. I am also new to Android and I don't use Google services except GMail. But since I will use Android, I think I will check Google Calendar.

I dont think you will have any problem using 1 account, 1 Google calendar with 2 phones, because I dont think Google service will remember your phone hardware. When a phone asks to sync, Google service will sync.

It should be the same like using 2 Macs, updating 1 Google Calender ... that is possible.

CMIIW.

Thanks folks for the replies.

Need to send a grocery list? Well that's what text messages are for.
I was thinking Astrid synced with rememberthemilk.com for both phones. I don't know how well Astrid syncs with rememberthemilk.com, but it says that it does. I also don't know how remember the milk works with multiple accessors to the account... So it may work fantastically as an intermediary to compile and relay the list back and forth.

+1 for SpanningSync on a mac - buy, install, setup, forget..

Also for music syncing by iTunes playlist to most USB connected devices, try Salling Media Sync.

Re the Google accounts / calendars.

Setup separate google accounts.
Within your calendars on each account, share the calendar with the other account and make sure the permissions are appropriate for each.
Alternatively I believe you can sync multiple google accounts within the calendar app on Android 2.0 and above.

Thank you for your kind responses and support. I have not purchased the phone, I now have to consider which phone to get - Whole new thread...i think.

Grainysand I reported you for harassment. You are rude.
IOWA thank you for asking Grainysand to chill out, and at the same time text is only 160 characters and to get a house full of food, it takes a week to prepare the list. Your way is not effective. Plus I can organize my event in the map of the grocery store, IE: produce, meat, deli dairy...etc as to not double back or miss any item. My time is valuable and I do not like to waste it with missed items or mistaken purchases. My google docs also contains a list of my spices, frozen foods and pre packaged foods. No you didn't need to know this, but you seemed to think low tech was better for me. I do not.
