Retrieving VM

I have google voice in addition to my regular phone number and I use GV for VM. However, two VM came in on my regular number and I am unable to retrieve them. The little icon at the top of my screen is showing VM, but when I dial my VM, it prompts me to leave a message.
Now when I turn my phone on, I get the indicator that I have VM. Any idea on how to retrieve these messages?.

When you dial your number and it asks you to leave a message, just push the # key. You will be asked for your password and your in.

That doesn't work.
You need to disable Google Voice first.
Go into the GV on the web and turn it off by dialing the # it has you dial.
Then call your VM and listen/delete the message.
Then go back into GV and turn it back on and follow the instructions.
