Need Help Unlocking or Rooting Galaxy S

Sorry if this is not the help thread, I need to do this fast

I have my Samsung Galaxy S Captivate I896 running android 2.1 with rogers

Recently, I went on my school's year end trip to camp in Banff. There was a plugin in the washrooms and I decided to charge my phone. Most people left their phones to charge and so did I. While I was gone, someone attempted the pass code a bunch of times and now my phone is in the final locking stage where you have to enter your email and password. It's either because I turned my internet off and I can't log in or I forget the email.

If you didn't Read that, My phone went in to locking where I have to enter the email and I either forget or I can't do anything because I shut off the Data and WiFi. I need to rest it. I wanted to root it to 2.2 or above anyway.

Is there any way I can fix this stupid thing?

I tried it and it didn't work

You mean you can't get the Google password sent to your account or you did get your password but it still doesn't work when entered into the phone?

I wouldn't think it would need to send any info through the network as your login info can be stored locally on the phone and verified by the device itself when typed correctly?

You have multiple gmail accounts? If that's the case, then it would be a case of trial and error I suppose. Do you have gmail set up on the phone and if so, which email address is used, that will tell you which one you need.

Or, go here once logged into a google account on the pc:

https://play.google.com/store

It may list your device on that page at the devices tab, or click on the button toward the upper right for "my android apps". If you're logged into the correct account, your phone apps will be displayed there.

I am logged into the right email adress but the password is incorrect every time, I even logged out and back in again with the same password and it's not working on my phone
