Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Apparently it's in the ROM, not the version. The guy I quoted started on v5, wiped everything clean, and tried to go back to ANY other ROM. Nexus went berzerk. But he was able to flash v3 and it was like nothing ever happened.

I smell a skunk.

Jbdan was able to do it once, I think it was on a v2 or v2.1 though. I wonder if it is just v3 and forward that the problem occurs.

DA**IT... I WANT THIS ROM!

Okay, tomorrow I will have plenty of time to flash the ROM and try my best to STAY on it. If it somehow doesn't play nice and total wipes don't remove all traces of the ROM & it jacks my phone, I will have time to hook up Wug's Toolkit and fastboot the stock ROM. I understand that will completely slick the phone... but I have backed up every picture, video, etc. to the PC.

Come on, Ginny, don't fail me now!

Hey everyone. I have JB 2.1, and I accidentally swiped away my weather card, for Google Now. Now I have no cards, and can't figure out how to get the weather one back. I had read that if you search for your favorite team, say the Detroit Tigers, you would get cards for that as well. Except I never saw any cards but the weather, and now I goofed and swiped it away. Loved showing people the new options and they were getting a kick out of the cards.

Good luck Chief.

I think this may be included in V5 of the JB ROM, but if not: [FIX] Fix for WiFi on Verizon Jellybean 4.1 ROMs - xda-developers

Thanks Stigy, apparently it's fixed in v5. And looky what I just read in Rootzwiki from the same guy who posted earlier about the self-destruct!

"PROFIT!

Ok I finally figured out the issues I was having with trying to get off this rom and flash "anything".

Keep in mind I wiped everything and formatted system with no luck. But apparently the wipes were not working correctly while in "Touch Recovery".

I did two things and I was then able to flash back to anything I wanted with no issue. I reverted back to the standard clockwork recovery. And I ran "Super Wipe Light" which formats instead of just wiping....

So for those having issues give this a try instead of going all the way back to stock. It will fix you right up. I imagine those that did not have issues were still on stock clockwork recovery."

:D

Back to Standard CWM and Super Wipe is now downloaded and on my phone! WHOOT WHOOT WHOOT

This is ridiculous - it knows I take the train so I walked outside for a break (which is walking distance to train) and it told me the next train times at the station and their direction. I am so impressed - no user interaction.

Yeah, I only use standard CWM... I wonder if that is why mine is running so smoothly.

AndroiDad75 - Go into settings while in Google now, press on the Weather, and see if yours has weather clicked as "Always"

Yeah it's marked as Always. I have tried restarting too. Not sure why it isn't showing anything. I am jealous of Stigy. I haven't had anything for restaurants, drive time, nothing... I have turned everything on. I ran out of ideas...

EDIT: I turned off Google Now, rebooted and turned it back on and the weather one is back. It looks like turning it off, resets Google Now. Not sure why I am not getting any other cards, or why I can't get the Tigers card to come up, but baby steps I suppose...

I was just going to say, if anyone did have another card come up, because mine is empty as well, other than the weather.

Jelly Bean is the bee's knees and Google now is spectacular.

I think my battery may have gotten a little better?

I have 2 for directions, 1 for weather, 1 for the Pittsburgh Pirates and 1 for the New York Yankees.

Anyone watching Wimbledon?? Federer just had a hell of a match against a very talented guy named Julien Benneteau. Benneteau won the first two sets, but the injury he'd suffered earlier in the season sapped his endurance. Federer took the third easily, there was more drama in the fourth as they went to a tiebreaker, but Federer squeaked out with the victory, and then steamrolled Benneteau in the fifth to take the match. Insanity, the crowd was going absolutely wild.

I COULD... unless I have a HanSolo event that wipes the whole phone again...

Besides, I don't mind drawing it out. Takes 5 minutes :)

Lol, that's what I do, screenshots of the home screens then tbu everything to dropbox, wallah, no worries....
I had instant upload turned off for pics, learned the hard way when I lost stuff. Now I do the instant upload and all is well.

The (just about) ultimate JB tutorial! Courtesy Teex at Rootzwiki:
Hi All,

New here to RootWiki, but not new to ROMs/flashing/etc. Haven't taken the dive yet (no time - watching my 5 month old while the wife is out of town) - however, I have been keeping up on the thread since yesterday evening. And the one thing I notice is the same questions a million times over. To help with that, I thought I'd take some time to find the most recurring questions, and create an FAQ (jdkoreclipse, please feel free to copy this and place it somewhere near the top of the thread, so others have a point of reference, instead of "around page 230").

Hope you guys find this helpful!
Spin.

F.A.Q.

Before asking a question, do the following:
Read the list below.
If your answers not there, use the search function.
Still can't find it? Ask! :)
ITEM #1

Before you do ANYTHING, it is recommended to back-up EVERYTHING on the SDCard partition to your PC. This is incase you have the unfortunate luck of needing to revert your phone back to stock (using the Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit), thus losing all the data on your phone.

If I'm coming from another ROM (ICS or other JB), do I need to do a full wipe?

According to others posted here, yes. This seems to be the safest way to ensure that nothing gets "polluted" when migrating to JB.
To make sure that everything is wiped, do the following (from Droidx0351):
Make sure you have NON-TOUCH CWM (5.5.0.4), available here: http://download.cloc....5.0.4-toro.img
Download SuperWipe.zip here: http://db.tt/WsFTNfoF
Flash SuperWipe.zip with CWM
Flash current JB ROM

If I'm coming from another version of jdkoreclipse's JB, do I need to do a full wipe?

According to others posted here, you can flash dirty over previous versions.

Can I flash the JB ROM & goodies in the same recovery session?

NO. Do the following:
Flash current JB ROM
Start-up & set-up phone (at least set-up google account)
Reboot into recovery
Flash Goodies zip

What do I do if I'm getting bootloops/can't revert back to nandroid?

Before anything else, please LOOK TO ITEM #1!

If you cannot get out of bootloop or cannot load nandroid, try the following:
Make sure you have NON-TOUCH CWM (5.5.0.4), available here: http://download.cloc....5.0.4-toro.img
Download SuperWipe.zip here: http://db.tt/WsFTNfoF
Flash SuperWipe.zip with CWM
Then, either flash the JB ROM again, or flash your nandroid.

If that does not work, unfortunately, you'll need to use Wugfresh's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit (here: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1693892). You'll need to get your phone back to stock, then re-root and start all over again. Also, YOU'LL LOSE ALL YOUR DATA. So, once again, see ITEM #1.

How to I add features from the Popcorn Kernel scripts?

(From big007hed)
Get Terminal emulator from the Play Store

popcorn [enter]

Are there other mods I can add to JB?

(From dhy8386)

Apple lands preliminary ban against Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the US (update: search patent the key) - Engadget

Well our phone has been banned for sale in the US.

Just tells me apple is finished as all the can do is sue instead of innovating. What a load. Guess the are scared am realize their iOS is inferior.

Absolutely ridiculous. And people wonder why I can't stand Apple.

Wife and I are sitting on our back porch, under the fan, enjoying a nightcap. It's 8:50 as I type this, and this is what the thermometer says.

Ok, I'm officially annoyed now. Apple needs to go. They are the Wright Brothers of the 21st century, and will have nothing to show for it but previously said annoyance. Their ability to innovate is seriously degraded, and Google has passed them in nearly every category, and is now beating them at their own game in one iteration. They may find a few judges who are sympathetic to their argument, but eventually every single one of their patents will be superseded or found to be invalid. And they will be dead. Rant over.

Remember I downloaded open signal yesterday? Well, it has been doing nothing but force closing on me today. I am kind of bummed. I am unable to get one useable daily routine graph, other then the one I posted earlier. I wanted to compare it to my moms note to see if AT&T had the better signal or not. So far, it looks like it might, but now I can't be 100%, or at least have the data to back things up with.

Uninstall for now, I guess.

This is what Google gets for partnering with Samsung. Samsung has been ripping off Apple over and over and over, and I'm glad they finally have to pay for it. Be a Nokia, be an HTC, don't sit around and be Apple and not expect to pay consequences.

HOWEVER, the Galaxy Nexus should not be a product banned for this, especially over a software concern. The box, design, and feel of the device is nothing at all like an iPhone. Ban the Galaxy II, Tabs, whatever but the Nexus is a differentiated device.

I'm sure if Samsung was doing the same thing to Apple though, this forum would be jumping in glee. Let's not be angry, arrogant fanboys.

Federer aged me 10 years today. Edge of my seat until he eon the breaker. Then a delicious bread stick was served :')
