Android 2.3 & 4.0 WiFi Internet HD 1080P HDMI Google TV Box ARM Cortex A9 Firmware

Here's new official Visson fw for f16ref dated 06-29:

Download 6-29 M3 new firmware(ROOT

First impressions:
- added su binary (very old one), but installed wrong, updater-script market_patch_m3.zip needs to be edited, nees to replace set_perm(0, 2000, 0755, "/system/xbin"); with set_perm(0, 0, 06755, "/system/xbin/su"); and resign package
- Network added (Samba), same app as on GB releases but with different icon, I was unable to manually add share
- UPnP client application, didn't test it 'cause don't have any UPnP devices on network
- About MediaBox in Settings reports kernel version 3.08, but it's not, still 2.6.34, I don't know why they forcing this...
- More languages added but no various subtitle encoding support in MoviePlayer as in my fw
- AC3 and DTS working (I gave them a hint what to do, didn't ask but I believe credits for this are going to me :))
- sdcard problem same as on c03ref and probably on my firmware for f16ref. It is kernel related issue, CML is working on driver patch for sdcard issue, he told me it will be done by end of this week.
- I still hear weird noises (clicking sound) on my f16ref, even more noticeable than my fw...

Didn't test it with movies because I can't access my network shares... will put some movie to external hdd and will see how it goes.

I have an Android 4.0 WiFi Google TV Box ARM Cortex A. it worked fine the first day but the next day I was enable to have it connected to intenet. In the settings, the wifi was off and even if turned on, nthing happened. To solve the problem, I installed the firmware picked up from the forum but then the tv screen turned black and both lights are constantly on. I tried (several times) to follow the procedure you gave in this forum to restore the SD card but with no succes. The linux sounds to be a good alternative. Ad I am not a pro, I will try to find some one around who have it....sinon, do you have any other suggestion. Thanks.

"Android 4.0 WiFi Google TV Box ARM Cortex A" means absolutely nothing to me. Is it Visson product? Have you seen Visson ATV-108 FAQ? If you have Visson product, do you have c03ref or f16ref board? If you have microphone in jack and USB-OTG connector on back side of box then it's c03ref device (if Visson at all), otherwise it's f16ref.

Nice! That looks like Bluetooth to me..

Yep, full BT support for various USB bt dongles... will release this weekend, I'm waiting sdcard patch... also have new version of modified Flash (by Amlogic) 10.2.... subjective opinion, it works smoother... Can't upload just Flash, it's sliced into peaces... it's not just apk file :). Filmehd.net still works only on webpage, not in fullscreen.

Hello

I've this model which looks like a clone of ZAP A9, the one CoyoteX has.

Coyotex, could you confirm that Slane firmware works in this model? I'm a very basic user, so no need to Chainfire or Busybox. I think superuser is enough for using Titanium.

I've got HDMI output connected ot my TV, but I would like to have 5:1 sound connected to my amplifier. I don't have an YUV cable, what kind of cable should I buy?

Best Regard

If you intend to use Stane's fw, please note that (as for now) remote control will no longer work, at all. HDMI works on 720P (not 1080P) and you will have netflix and flash problems. The YUV cable works for image but the audio slot doesnt seem to be working for me. I cannot get any audio unless im using HDMI. This fw is for testing, EXPECIALLY on a device like ours. Still, it runs MUCH smoother than original fw. You can find a cable on DX without any trouble.

@grindinonyourm no problems with WIFI AT ALL... low signal, but expected and no drops so far.

@stane1983 plz don't forget to remove the remote control conf from the kernel on next update.

Hi stane,
I received today from the seller the official FW dated 29/6 for f16ref board and it's the same that you posted. After flashed I can confirm that still hearing the wired noise like before and the quality of the movies is poor on frame rate and not smooth. The Wi-fi signal level seems lower than your last FW. This firmware is not rooted cause wrong installation of su binary as you noticed. Hope you will extract the kernel to compile a better FW for this board solving the issues that you listed including movie playback quality.
Thanks for your time

....

This sounds like f16ref device (you can see it on the fly if there is DDR3 memory in device, other platforms than AML8726M3 doesn't support DDR3). Does it look like on the picture in the FAQ?

If no, you probably bricked your device by installing bootloader which is not compatible with your device.

If yes, I believe you installed c03ref fw on your device. You sure you installed f16ref firmware?

f16ref is tricky to unbrick...

It looks quite like the one in FAQ section except at the back where mine does not have the entry beside the reset button, nor the 3 yellow stuffs. I went through the flyer and nothing is stated there. I took a photo but I don't know how to post it. Hope there is a solution to have it back...
Thanks.

With which firmware you flashed your device?

Since c03ref is on hold right now (everything done except sdcard patch which I' waiting for) I'm moving to f16ref now to include all features that c03ref has (adb over network, bluetooth, more dvb support (including Geniatech stick :))..)... I believe it will be ready before c03ref...

Mine still drops every once in a while...maybe its defective wifi card...it only drops when im slamming the connection...and it works fine again if i go into settings and turn wifi off then back on again. meanwhile, no other devices on my network loss connection, so i know its not the router. maybe its a setting in the router that my c03ref doesnt like.

Happy to hear that! Hope this is not the end for this one day last tv box...I am sure there is a solution...let's hope.

Here's what you can try:

Leave your recovery card as is (with firmware files for f16ref on it), but put aml_autoscript file from c03ref firmware on it. That script is supposed to flash over uboot-aml-ucl.bin. If that doesn't work... you have to connect your board via ttl (uart) interface and see if anything is comming out and if something is comming out, then what it is.

Another way is to find someone who can program your spichip by flashing uboot-aml-ucl.bin directly to spi chip.

SPI chip on both c03ref and f16ref is same - MX25L4006E (512 Kb chip). uboot-aml-ucl file is supposed to be flashed starting from address 0x000000000 hex. I'm sure you can find some electronics repair shop (for cellphones, GPS navigations...) who own programator that can flash this particular SPI chip. After that you have to install correct firmware to your device.

Many thanks for all this info. I Am not familiar with all the terms used but will try to find some one nearby who can help and follow the instruction. Could you just help me with the links to the specified firmwares. This will help to avoid the confusion between the f16ref and c03ref.
I will let you know once it's done.
Mille merci..

Last official firmware for f16ref (your device) is released yestherday, link:

Download 6-29 M3 new firmware(ROOT

On my download section - V-Play download section you can find also firmwares for f16ref (it is listed under Firmware - rev 2 platform (f16ref) section).

And yeah, next time doing something like this, be careful and read FAQs and other posts if available or ask questions :) On my download page you can also find DeviceChecker application which you can install on your box and it will tell you which box you have.

UPDATE: aml_autoscript file can be found in any c03ref firmware on my download page. You need only that file, other files should be either from official firmware for f16ref or from my firmwares for f16ref
