Coolest feature you've found?

Once you enable it you open the camera, you will notice a new icon on the screen a face with little waves. Now if you say shoot or one of the other words it takes a picture when u say the word. It's pretty cool, just don't say shoot on in a airplane.

The answer reject calls should work the same way, but I haven't had any luck with the answer or reject yet.

Update
To answer calls hold the phone face up in your hand and semi close to your face and say answer and it answers the call, same for reject.

If I have to pick up the phone, and bring it towards my face to say answer or reject, isn't it easier to hit answer or decline on the phone anyway?

Not if it's in your GPS mount on your windshield. It will already be facing your face, too, so all you'd have to do is say "answer" or "reject." Can't wait to test this, but right now it seems like quite a win when on long trips where you're using your google nav.

I stumbled across the "Assistive light" and OMG this is amazing!!

We were at an outdoor movie (picnic style) last night and with 8 kids along we had so much crap to gather up when it was over at midnight. This flashlight worked as well as a handheld $100 spotlight. It lit up the entire area like daylight and we found my kids missing shoe LOL

We then made it back to the car using it to avoid mud and puddles and even used it as a beacon to help one of our group to find us across an entire soccer field (while I was on the phone with them I told them to look for the waving light and I help up the phone and waved it back and forth) with 200+ people around, many with lame flashlights and glow sticks. I bet someone would see it from a search plane LOL

I like that when I am connected to my home network the phone automatically searches for computers and displays thumbnails of pictures and music on those computers so I can surf those pics and play music from the phone itself.

ALSO, I noticed the "bluray" player that popped up when I was in the music player, when I clicked it the song from my phone automatically started playing thru my bluray surround system... I didn't have to do anything else. This kinda took me by surprise because I was used to it with my apple tv and ipad but this had no setup to do, it was all automatic!

How do you do that?

I could very well be wrong about this but I read somewhere that it isn't a good idea to leave the "Flashlight" on for too long. Supposedly (Maybe) it can overheat or damage the flash LED with it staying lit too long. Considering it's primary function is to just flash momentarily it seems plausible. On the other hand, if they put a flashlight widget on the phone maybe it's ok. I have used the dual LED flash on my Droid X as a flashlight quite a few times but I try to limit the time it's on to maybe 10 or 15 seconds or so. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

unlike a filament based light an LED has a much much longer lifespan. the flash LED in the phones are just white LED's, if you were to leave it on all day every day it would last you about 5.5 years

I'm quite familiar with LEDs and how they work. Maybe I wasn't saying it quite right but I wasn't saying that the LED itself would burn out. I was suggesting that the circuit tht handles it wasn't designed to be on all of the time. I didn't make this up myself. I wish I remember where I saw it written but I don't right now. I also know not to believe everything that's written. If a circuit isn't intended or expected to be on for more than a very brief instant very infrequently it's not beyond possibility that the circuit that supports it wasn't designed to be on for extended periods of time...Such as in regular use as a flashlight or for 5.5 years.

Okay, but the poster said "To answer calls hold the phone face up in your hand and semi close to your face and say answer and it answers the call, same for reject".

That's why I asked why pick it up and hold it semi-close to my face instead of just hitting accept or decline

I can think of a ton of instances where I might be too involved in something to look at my phone and f with the buttons, but could very easily pick up my phone and say answer while remaining on the task at hand...

And its a nice feature to show off to others..

Five and a half years! How long do you keep your cell phone? Are you upgrading from the Nokia 5110? :D

I don't know what the LED circuitry is either, but I would think it's defined more as a backlight than flash circuity. I've used Moto Torch on my Droid X quite a few times. It's very handy to always have a flashlight with you, when you don't have a flashlight with you. Never had any issues, but I've never had it on more that probably 30 seconds. The high intensity dual LED on the DX tends to get warm after a while. All that being said, yes, used as a flashlight isn't the intended function and you could be taking the health of the flash at risk.

P.S. - I love this thread! I want my Verizon SIII!

I love the new lock screen! It replaces it with a meeting reminder when you get one!
