Root OnlyOne...what do you think???

I finally decided to root my Note, the wait for the official ICS is just too long.
I decided to go with OnlyOne rom, and I have to admit that I'm not that impressed, maybe just me or maybe I'm just too demanding :D

Speed is ok, just seems that my GB 2.3.6 was faster
apps take a few seconds to start
not able to change something simple like the lockscreen image, keeps crashing on me
my battery drains a lot faster
sometimes the phone just gets unregistered from my cellular network, I switch to airplane mode, then back and everything is back to normal
oh, and the sound is just terrible, my speaker crackle everytime I receive a text

besides these few glitches, I'm probably going to stay or try Obsession, its the long weekend in Canada, so I have time to test out a few more roms before deciding which one I'm going to stick with

Are there a lot of you using OnlyOne?
if not, which rom are you using?

My Note is the i717 version

I tried it and I liked it, however I found a GB kernel that lets you overclock to 1.93ghz - Safely at 1.83ghz. This makes my note glide lag free on a power save setting. I'm getting better performance and battery life than on any ICS I've tried. Add that with the Sauron ROM and you get a potent combination that's strong enough to keep me away from ICS.

Plus I'm having trouble getting any Game Saft games to play on any ICS leak.

If you're interested in the kernel you can find it here:
[OVERCLOCK] [3-7-2012] dagkernel 0.2 CPU/GPU Overclock up to 1.94GHz - xda-developers

very interesting....
I admit that running the stock GB was pretty smooth, atleast for my needs
I will have a deeper look into this, as I am not very fond of overclocking especially when I can't cool the CPU like a PC

thanks again for the info

I have been using OnlyOne for about a week and love it (I tried some others and always went back), The UI is smooth, no issues and I like s-voice, but and this is a big but, I was no longer able to connect my BT laser keyboard, mhl (HDMI Mirror) no longer worked, there is a rotation issue, the next update is a few weeks away and wallpapers do not display correctly :(

If those issues were fixed, I would still be running. But sadly, I need mhl & my keyboard for work, so I flashed back to stock

Flashed the stock rom
Flashed CWM
Flashed the counter reset (twice for good measure)
Flashed the stock recovery

Now back to 100% unmodified, 0 counter, official binary stock.

Ok I can't stay stock :D

Trying [ROM][CM9HYBRID] PARANOIDANDROID UNOFFICIAL June 25th *Hammer time!!* - xda-developers

with the UCLF5 radio from [ROM/MOD] AOSPxXx v0.3A 6/28/2012 Unofficial AOSP/CM9 Mashup "Hey Jerky!" - xda-developers

I'll report back

EDIT/UPDATE

Well I really dislike GB after using OnlyOne. I used the Hammer Time Rom, it was nice, but OnlyOne is just... Like a slightly better bottle of wine. So my fix, I have a nand backup of stock and of OnlyOne, and since it takes less than 5 minutes to restore, when I neeed the KB & MHL, I'll just jump back to GB for the time being... So yes I'm back on OnlyOne

Edit #2 I don;t know what happened before but MHL is working, odd; oh well, 1 thing fixed. now just the BT

I just rooted and installed the HYFR build of OnlyOne.

This thing is BLAZING fast and I love it!

I'm not having a single dang problem with it. I did try the leaked ICS one for AT&T and that thing would crash constantly, even when trying to collapse my email (when setting the row that has "Today".

So glad I rooted this bad boy!

Same here, OnlyOne has it quarks, but I love it and am stuck
Now if I can just find a way to steal the MHL & Bluetooth stuff from "[ROM][CM9HYBRID] PARANOIDANDROID UNOFFICIAL June 25th *Hammer time!!* - xda-developers" I'll be happy

I did the OnlyOne HYFR the other day and then flashed or whatever you do Blondie on top of that...not sure what Blondie added. I like the GSIII look although I can't figure out how to just show the Clock and Date on the home screen without all that weather information in the box.

Also, i can't get live/non-live wallpapers to show at full size....they all zoom in even if i select the don't move with page turns mode.

Blondie? You mean Goldie?

I was thinking about Goldie, but wasn't sure if Goldie was newer than HYFR.

D'OH...no wonder nothign was coming in Google with "blondie"...lol. Yeah, Goldie. Supposedly Goldie is the latest. Update 5 is out and the dude lists all that stuff over at the other site..i forget the name..X something something. I'm a newb to all this...i was used to jailbreaking iphones.

Never tired HYFR, interesting... Found you can download it from here: Download GalaxyNote/attroms/OnlyOneICS/HYFR.zip at DownloadAndroidROM.com but not really wanting to flash back to OnlyOne beta 4. If you do try it, please post.

I'm running HYFR right now; the only issue I have found is that sometimes when I get a notification for my exchange email and I open the email app; it doesn't disappear unless I swipe down for notification center and clear all notifications.

Beside that, it works. S Voice does exactly what I want it to do.

that's the exact same rom that I used and had too many little issues.
I also noticed that my battery drain was a lot faster than before...something like 2% within 30 min of standby...
it just seems worse now that I see the pourcentage beside the battery icon

I am currently using objection rom and its ok, I can almost say its about the same as OnlyOne
it's been installed since saturday, so I have to give a few more days to see how its going to please me

Update, I switched to : [Rom]~[UCLF5]~TEAM PERFECTION'S ICS OBJECTION|06/28|SGSIII|S Voice|Fast|Spiced UP RC1 - xda-developers and love it, you get everything that OnlyOne has and then some, plus battery life is 1.5 days now

Kinda a pain to install at 1st look but once you realive what to do, it works great.

If you decide to install it, here is what I did, been using it since 3-July-2012 and love it.

Go to the rom page here: [Rom]~[UCLF5]~TEAM PERFECTION'S ICS OBJECTION|06/28|SGSIII|S Voice|Fast|Spiced UP RC1 - xda-developers

Download the rom from step 8: Look for the "click here to download" between two busybox instructions.

Download the RC1 update after step 8

Note the Rom is 623,768 KB and the RC1 update is 53,626 KB

#1 Boot into CWM
#2 backup OnlyOne
#3 Wipe data/factory reset
#4 Wipe cache partition
#5 Wipe data/factory reset
#6 Wipe cache partition
#7 Wipe data/factory reset
#8 Wipe cache partition (yes 3 times each for good measure)
#9 Flash the rom
#10 Let it boot all the way up (note you will not have the ASOP & TW launchers yet and you will not have root yet)
#11 Once everyting boots, reboot back into CWM and flash the RC1 update (DO NOT WIPE ANYTHING, just flash the RC1)
Once you flash RC1, you will have Root and the normal TW launcher and the AOSP launcher

I love that I still have all my s-pen apps and function plus the AOSP (nexus type) launcher. Side note, if you have issues with GPS, just use GPS Test to clear the AGPS data.:D

objection UCLF5 has been working perfectly so far

the only *bug* so far that I have encountered is the "music" widget, I added "all songs", but it doesn't seem to play...when i go through with the music app, it works fine
battery has been improved greatly...I can now get about 11 hours before charging my phone, with objection UCLF2, I was getting about 6-8 hours, same with OnlyOne

its a lot faster and a lot smoother
thanks again for the update
