So glad I decided to jump on the Nexus One instead of waiting for this. It looks like it needs a lot more work. It is still, however, the best looking Android phone out there.

Hopefully the XDA guys can pull out Mediascape for other phones

Sound an excellent phone, a few minor gripes aside. My only major problem is that keyboard. HTC Sense NEVER missed a beat when texting, so i'm concerned about the 1-3% miss rate on the keystrokes. And that backspace needs sorting too.

Am i right in thinknig new keyboards can be downloaded from Android Market though?

Phone choice can also be an emotional thing! I've decided on an X10 regardless of the negative things they've mentioned! Could have an iPhone, Nexus, Milestone......... but you know what; I'm getting an X10!!

Not like the N1 doesn't have it's share of issues and complaints.

I'd be interested to see if the keyboard is simply a bad/buggy implementation or if it's something hardware related. Testing something like BetterKeyboard might answer that.

Not so with my HTC Hero which sometimes pauses for breath when inputting text on the keyboard and catches up a few seconds later. That is annoying, but at least the text goes in, unlike the X10 by the sounds of it!

I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean. Every phone has issues and complaints. The only difference is what you're willing to put up with and what you are not. The X10 seems like a chore to use. But who knows, it could be better when you own it instead of showcase it for a video review. I might be able to deal with its issues. I'd be excited if that were the case since the X10 is a fantastic looking piece of hardware.

XDA is supposed to have a forum for the X10. Great, because maybe then somebody will make it work.

You're right. The whole time Engadget was saying that the stock keyboard was junk, I was thinking, "Sucks to hear but who cares?" because it's so easy to replace the keyboard.

I've read some other comments on the keyboard not being great. Likely a software thing though, so it'll be patched (if not by Sony than by the community).

I'm the other way around: I'm glad I skipped the ugly Nexus One and its stock Android stuff and held out 'til I got my X10 - it's fast, Mediascape is great and the hardware, the slick design is amazing.

I completely agree with Kamm. I like the look of the X10, so I waited 4 months until this X10 was released, and I'm 100% happy with it.

That's not a diss on the Nexus One, because people have choices, and I like HTC, and their products, but the look of the phone, and the operating system weren't for me.

played with the HTC Desire today at Carphone Warehouse, the phone is just not for me, I found it somewhat ugly, also the HTC Sense is not as functional and beautiful looking like SE UX. Mediascape makes X10 the best multimedia Android phone.

nexus one and htc sense music player fail in comparison to Mediascape.

X10 is the best looking Android phone in my opinion. MT is only necessary in games, everything else there are alternatives, not a huge loss, but would have been nice seeing as the competitors have it and the price SE is charging for the X10.

other than that, X10 is a fast, solid and functional phone.

I have also had a HTC phone, and I have good things to say about them. They get an A+ for HTC sense, and their forward adoption/innovation of the Android Platform. In fact, we all are on HTC's side because of whole Apple thing.

This is my first Sony Ericsson phone, and I am totally happy I waited. This is the Xperia X10 forum, people can say "My phone is better than yours, buy the Nexus one", but the X10 is better for a lot of people. The form factor, 8mp Camera, the 4" screen, and Mediascape, this phone is hot.

i have the nexus and the x10 and love my x10 ten times better. I got tired of the 3G bug with the data hanging up, couldnt send msgs then I would have to restart my phone. Im always getting a new phone tho so I dont know how long I will have this one but for the moment, its great. I dont have the stupid 3G bug anymore and Timescape works like a charm.
