A few questions for my rooted Lucid

I have never rooted an Android phone before, and so I was pleasantly surprised to find out how easy it was to root my Lucid. However, being new at this, I deleted the stock music app, and now in the notification panel the music controller just sits there uselessly. I've tried reinstalling the music.apk file into /system/apps, and I've successfully got the apk in there, but it's not installing. I saw somewhere that the APK needs rw-r-r permissions, but with rooted Super Manager, I can't alter the permissions besides owner. I altered the permissions on the associated .odex file accordingly, but it still doesn't work.

So, my questions are:
1. Is there a way that I can get this to install?

2. If I remove my root and do a factory reset, will the music app be back?

or

3. Is there a way to alter the phone to simply remove that music controller in the notification panel?

P.S. Before anyone asks, no I do not have a nandroid backup or any backup of any sort.

IMHO, until someone comes out with a stable ROM, it's not worth rooting at this point. About the only 'rooted' feature I enjoy is wireless tethering.

In terms of 'how to' root and recover, that is all covered in the very few threads that are in this section of the forum. Should be hard to parse through them. :)

Do a factory restore, that will return the music app. On my Droid 2, I still had root privileges after the factory restore, so I'm pretty confident you'll still have root. If not, rooting this phone takes about a min.
After you do the factory restore, download Titanium Backup and back up the apps FIRST before you delete them. If you get the paid version, which is definitely worth the price, you can freeze the apps and they will disappear from the apps menu.

A factory reset will not restore deleted items.. it deleted user data/apps...
And the reason you still had root after the factory reset.. a factory reset doesn't delete anything on the system partition..
Just thought I'd mention

I'm sure there's a way to do it without completely resetting back to stock, but it probably includes some complicated steps and methods of which I am completely ignorant :p

So.. imo, the simplest thing would be to just reset it back to stock using the LG tool (after backing up your stuff, of course). There's also a thread that talks about how to go about doing that.

I'm trying to compile a list of apps that we can safely remove after rooting. Contribute if you can! :)
