i have a galaxy s2 and i am a bit concerned about its security.i want to know what should i do in order to track my phone if i lost it?do i need to download an app or i have to register on google for this???i have avg free antivirus in my mobile and i have registered for anti-theft services in it but i think most of these anti theft services require GPS on the mobile to be ON.Isn't there any app which i can turn on from my google account and then it will turn on the GPS on my phone or any other good anti theft apps or services available?

to ironmass:-again thanks for quick reply but the link you have provided, the person there has no security system installed in his/her mobile. i have NOT lost my mobile, i want to be prepared if i misplaced my mobile.

I am fully cognizant with the fact that you have not lost your phone. The thread that I linked you to has a reference to the Samsung method of tracking, in post #9.

Android Lost is my own solution. To be honest, insurance is your best bet as thieves these days are well aware of the tracking capabilities attached to smartphones.

HI there - couple of quick things come to mind. Since I assume you have a Samsung account on the phone like most of us to access Samsung Apps etc., then you can use Samsung's free solution. Go to www.samsungdive.com, enter your email, password of your samsung account and you should see a screen to link your device. Off the top of my head, you can track your device even with GPS off via mobile network although not as accurate. You can also lock it, get it to call you at a different number, and if needed you can also wipe your whole phone remotely. There are probably a few other functions I can't remember right now.

One other security program I like & have purchased is GotYa! which takes a silent photo & location and emails it to you, everytime someone trys to unlock and fails. It also has remote Sms commands you can enable remote lock, call back, alarms etc.

Also under the OS, in Settings, Security there are some settings that alert you to change in SIM card etc. Take a look in there.
