Hey Everyone! First post here.

So anyway, a screen problem has appeared on my Droid X a couple days ago. Every couple months or so, something that looks like this appears, but goes away after about a day. But this time it is not showing any sign of disapearing, so I am wondering if anyone has any info on this. It does not disrupt my experience, it's just kinda annoying.

Thanks for reading.

I attached a photo, if you did not notice that already.

Wow. My phone has almost the exact same pattern, but the pattern just showed up Monday after dropping it (caseless) onto tile the day before. Did your phone receive any hard impacts right before this occurred?

I've also noticed a couple of lines have gone away, but more have appeared over the past few days.

The lines ended up never going away. So fortunately for me, I was under warranty with my phone because I bought the extended warranty. I didn't know this at the time, so I took it to the Verizon Store. They said it would cost $100 to repair, so I may as well get a new line (or something like that, if that sounds a bit odd). So I did get a new phone, a iPhone 4 8gb. However I did not like the iPhone because 8gb will simply not do with me, but I did love the iPhone however that is another story. So I went back to the store to give back my iPhone, and get my droid x repaired. But then another guy told me I still had extended warranty with the droid, so he recommended I call the hotline. It turns out a repair was free. After that they sent me a refurbished Droid X and I sent back my defunct Droid X. Now the mess is finally over. So in conclusion, you can get it repaired for $100. I didn't find another way to solve it, I think it was just a full burnt out screen. Cheers and good luck.

No, no hard impacts. That sounds like an actual screen 'problem', not a burnt out one, which is what I figured out mine to be.

Well I went to the Verizon store and they told me they had no clue what was wrong with my phone and it was out of warranty. To top it off my upgrade isn't good until November so they told me I could buy a new phone outright for $400-600 which is nuts or go buy a refurbished one online somewhere. Either way I remember being a customer with AT&T and if something like this were to happen they would find a way to let you upgrade early but they wouldn't do anything of the sorts.

That's interesting. One thing I have learned with all stores (Apple, Verizon, Best Buy) is that one employee could be completely wrong or ignorant about stuff. It's best to ask the exact same question or problem to a couple people, so you can see if anyone has any different conclusions. I don't have experience with AT&T but that sounds very nice that they would let you do something like that. So what did you end up doing?

Yours is a burnt screen?

Mine has gotten considerably worse. Instead of just a bunch of thin horizontal lines, I now have several dark circles that make it much more difficult to read.

I'm about to move on to a newer phone, but I'd like to keep this one around for the kids to play with, so I'm wondering if this is a problem that I can attempt to repair myself. Is it possible to replace the screen? Also, does the change in pattern mean that this may simply be a loose connection?

My Droid X started having two straight lines across the lower part of the screen about 2 wks ago. Now there is a spot (octagon) at the end of the lines and growing in size to the point where it has become very distracting. I did not buy the extended warranty so guess I am out of luck with this phone. I have never dropped it so have no ideal why it happen but to assume it is a design flaw in the screen..pixel burned
whatever. Will not buy this phone next time around in about 3 months...very disappointing.
