Z802 is the new Android TV from ZERO Devices. Runs Android 4.0 under Allwinner A10 - 1.5Ghz Cortex A8. Unbelievable small size 8 x 3.5 x 1.2cm

It can be a good "Portable Android TV". 512 DDR3 + 4GB NAND Flash

I hope test one soon

It's an All Winner A10 device so if you've seen reviews of those then it's largely the same.

Here's a small summary
* Android 4 has been released for A10 devices and it runs better than the Amlogic/Geniatech devices Android 4.
* Controls best with a mouse or equivalent.
* Better built in media player software that also includes native network browsing* (*only in newest Android 4 builds). Can also play 3D videos encoded in H.264 MVC (Blu-ray/AVCHD) not just the SBS stuff.
* You can boot any compatible OS linux or Android from the SDcard. XBMC is also in development for these.
* You cant brick these devices they can always be recovered.
* Flash 11 is present in Android 4 build from All Winner.
* MX Player works with the hardware decoding on the A10 chipset.

The only major downside to Android builds from All Winner are that there is no Dolby AC3 or DTS audio support at all, so no audio for two very common audio formats. You can use MX Player Pro software audio decoder to fill in the gap while video is still hardware decoded but it can be buggy doing this.

Hopefully the AC3/DTS thing gets cleared up or someone releases a unofficial universal "patch" which is what another A10 vendor did but it only worked on their build of Android/firmware version.

Amlogic is good CPU. I would like to compare Zero Devices (Z802 & Z022) vs Geniatech ATV2000. But my ATV2000 does not work. Geniatech quality is not same than before it seems. Also they are not friendly people, so maybe I can copare with Measy A5A, GV-5 and anothers that I have here from another better factories.

Just now I'm going to look a little more about Zero Z802.

By the way, I'll receive soon a sample of new Zero Devices Z900.

See you soon guys :)

Could those of you who have these devices post some youtube videos of them in action? I'd love to see more details of using them hands on. Most of the links to these allwinner 10 devices indicate that they are selling out as fast as they can get them. If this is true, I do not understand why youtube isn't filled with reviews and excited users posting all of the things they are doing with them. With other projects, such as the raspberry pi, this is certainly the case.

I have so many questions.

* Does sideloaded Neflix work on these devices?
* Do standard Linux distrobutions with ARM targets, like Debian, work well? I know it is stated above that Linux will from from the sdcard, but knowing that Linux runs is much different from knowing that something like Debian runs great from a standard install. If so, do things like wifi, sound, and graphics work out of the box without a lot of hacking? If so, are there wikis or blogs with information on what had to be done in order to get it working?
* Does anyone have more information on the current status of the XBMC port? I saw the wiki page on the XMBC site, but it doesn't give many details.
* Can we get a video if it running a 1080p video smoothly with audio and video in sync? If Netflix works on it, can we get a video of the same? If Debian (or other distro boots on it), can we get a video of that?

* Does sideloaded Neflix work on these devices?

I can not use Netflix because its service is not available in Spain (I find this message when I wanted to download the APK).

But I downloaded an APK from another place and could install without any problem.

But after try to open (also correctly) Netflix APK said "there is a new version...." so it sent me to Google Play for download the last version and... again the message "This service is not available in your country yet".

On my PC I can use a USA proxy, but under Android I can not (or I don't know how). Another option is install my USA proxy in the router... but I really don't have time now for this hard work.

Maybe someone from another country can do it. Anyway, it looks like can work well.

Stress proof for ZERO DEVICES Z802. I downloaded an high quality 1080P video, it's a part from Avatar really complicated for test the stress. I was perfect. 10/10

ZERO DEVICES Z802 - 1080P Video - Stress Proof - YouTube

Just I'm sorry I recorded this video with a CASIO Exilim PHOTO camera. I don't have the VIDEO camera here. Don't doubt about the quality, it was perfect and sound sinc.

50USD... I can guess the quality...

An important thing about China, after a company launchs a new and good products lots of small "factories" try to copy. But always always always the just think how to break the market with cheap prices (if not they will not sell), so just produce rubbish. Later, after their market is bigger, even can produce cheaper than before changing the materials quality (even worst than before is possible). Every part has A, B, C.. quality. Later if they have problems about warrany with customers just need to change the name of their company and cheat more people again...

I think now, after some years on this, I even can write a book about the chinese bad quality :D

The Z802 was tested and it's really good at this moment.

Uhm. No. This one is cheap because it's using a Telechips TTC8525 (or something like that # which is dual cortex-a5 + mali-400). i.e. it's just underspecced cheaper so probably no worse than the mk802/z802...

That Z802's packaging, accessories, PSU, and even the device's case are IDENTICAL to MK802 that I just got from an ebay seller.

Problem with these is that they LACK ESD(possibly fry it's own HDMI port and/or the TV's maybe even more) clamping and power regulation(AXP209 chip is missing/cost cut again possibly fry itself). I did NOT realize that until AFTER I received the device and was looking at some things on the miniand forums and stumbled across this little fact.

In my case, I'll be selling the MK802 and plan to pick up the "oval elephant". They're getting a "limited" shipment on 7/12 and the rest on 7/20. Sames specs, A10 1GHz, 4GB storage, 1GB RAM, uSD, FULL size HDMI, bit bigger case, PLUS MORE importantly the ESD clamping and AXP209 power regulation chips for about the same price shipped in the US(charge $8 US, $15 for Canada, $20 worldwide shipping).

I paid $30 more for the ebay MK802 just so I could get it quickly(in US already) and it turned out to be the 1st batch, plain case(no port labelling and no vent holes) so I'll either just eat the cost to the unwary or maybe sell it with the advertised provisos about ESD/power regulation.

I know the chinese market very well. Even I lost money (and not a few bucks) more than one time for that reason I explained before. I have lots of tablet pc, mp4, mobile phones and so on at home (rubbish) because:

1. Few chinese factories look at the quality.
2. Cheap, cheap, cheap and cheaper than another manufactorers.

I have bought good products some months until factory changed quality and lost all profit made before. Really can not believe anyone there (my wife is chinese and knows this very well too).

About Z802 packing, I just taken these pictures over my desk:

Zero Devices is a brand, this is a big difference because they are not a "ghost company" who just launched this product and after sell all that they can will dissapear. It's like buy Egreat, Measy, Kaiboer and so on. Also ZERO will open the VIP area for registered users where are able to download manuals, firmwares, etc.
