Copy files from computer to micro SD card

Hi, I notice file transfer rate is very very slow when I copy files from pc to micro sd, I know my card isn't the fastest (it's a class 4) but 5/6 gb of data takes more than 30 mins to transfer, is this normal? btw, if I copy files from pc to phone internal memory, it is much faster.

I used to have an htc desire and the file copying to sd card is very fast compared to what I got with S3.

Also, another problem I have is also related to sd card, sometimes I use swiftp to transfer small files to the phone, but whenever I try to access a file on the sd card through ftp, it gave me error, again, internal phone memory is working ok.

Any idea?

All my previous android phones mounted the SD card as a drive (with drive letter). Those copy were quite fast. Now Galaxy Nexus and S3 mo utned as Media device (MTP). There is no longer any drive letter. I noticed the copying is slow and annoying with error messages such as device is busy.

I now load what I need to dropbox and let it sync with WIFI. and if I want to copy big files, I will take out the micro SD card and use a card reader instead.

hm...this really sucks, wish there was a way to mount the sd card as a drive

There is a way but I haven't bothered to check.. Actually before I downloaded the UPDATES on windows, the phone was mounting as DRIVE, not as MTP.. On the installation from the samsung drivers online, it shows various installations, and the MTP was failing because I didn't have the windows updates I needed.. I figure if I didn't update them manually, then my phone would still mount as a drive, like it did the very first time I connected it via USB..
