Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

50 Shades of Grey

Thanks to the many other perturbed readers who have shared their own choices of the most annoyingly overused phrases in this masterpiece. Following up on their suggestions with my ever-useful Kindle search function, I have discovered that Ana says "Jeez" 81 times and "oh my" 72 times. She "blushes" or "flushes" 125 times, including 13 that are "scarlet," 6 that are "crimson," and one that is "stars and stripes red." (I can't even imagine.) Ana "peeks up" at Christian 13 times, and there are 9 references to Christian's "hooded eyes," 7 to his "long index finger," and 25 to how "hot" he is (including four recurrences of the epic declarative sentence "He's so freaking hot."). Christian's "mouth presses into a hard line" 10 times. Characters "murmur" 199 times, "mutter" 49 times, and "whisper" 195 times (doesn't anyone just talk?), "clamber" on/in/out of things 21 times, and "smirk" 34 times. Christian and Ana also "gasp" 46 times and experience 18 "breath hitches," suggesting a need for prompt intervention by paramedics. Finally, in a remarkable bit of symmetry, our hero and heroine exchange 124 "grins" and 124 "frowns"... which, by the way, seems an awful lot of frowning for a woman who experiences "intense," "body-shattering," "delicious," "violent," "all-consuming," "turbulent," "agonizing" and "exhausting" orgasms on just about every page.

HEY, you kids! Turn off the TV (I mean internet) and go outside and play. Get some fresh air. Whitewash the fence, build a raft and float down the river, go explore the caves and look for treasure. Now get outta the house! ;)

Thanks for the thought, but i finally came inside after working all day in my yard. A lot of work involved when you're away from home for three weeks.

Actually highlighting her favorite parts was my second choice. My first choice was to have her read me her favorite parts. :D

This does not surprise me! :D;)

PG-13, PG-13, PG-13, I really want to respond but that keeps echoing in my head.
Yup! That's why I went with what I did.

I did, but it was 106 at noon today, so my outside time was very limited.

Just saw Magic Mike. Damn movie actually had a plot in it
Was good though.
and there were a few bewbie shots for the few men in the theater

Too much plot. Not enough naked Channing Tatum.

I read about 10 chapters of shades of grey and couldn't stand it...which surprised me after all the hype about it. I'm a healthy open minded female when it comes to such things, so there was no "prude" factor to me not liking it. *shrugs*

To each their own. I have a couple friends who feel the same as you Bren. For me it was good - expected more from the hype but I guess maybe I've read more of that genre than some others. :)

I think the DOJ needs to start looking into Apple for antitrust issues. Seriously. EVERYWHERE you go there is Apple products and very little android stuff. Go into walmart and they got icrap everywhere and not even a charging dock for a droid x. Verizon too. They have a whole WALL plastered with stuff for the iPhone. Very little for everything else.

Microsoft got slapped with an antitrust suit (I believe) for not including Java VM in their browser (I think)

But apple can push there wares like this and use anticompetitive measures. Suing other handset manufactures, and patent trolling. Who's the real victims here, Apple? I seriously think the DOJ needs to go after Apple. This all smells very anticompetitive to me.

Kind of makes me sick typing this out on my MBP *gulp* (but we are talking phones here and not computers :))

I'm pretty sure Microsoft got slapped with the antitrust suit for attempting to snuff out Netscape. By merging Windows with IE, they told the DoJ that they couldn't remove Internet Explorer as it was part of the operating system.

However, they did screw Java. I remember reading a long article years ago about it (unfortunately the website that hosted it is long gone) about how Java scared the hell out Bill Gates because it could go anywhere and wasn't restrictive (how quaint that it partially powers Android). So, in a totally shitty devious move, he told Sun to let MS look at the source code and they'd help integrate it into Windows. Instead, they mutilated the code and made it where Java was damn near not functional on Windows or any other system. Sun sued and won a boatload of money from it.

As far as Apple, if any company needs to be looked into, it's Apple. Their practices with patent suits is starting to look awfully anti-competitive. Why the patent office isn't taking a good look at how vague the patents are is beyond me? Bullying and leveraging your market power to snuff out competitors and refusing to license your patents does seem like an anti-trust suit in the making though.

My father in law went to see it with his mother yesterday. :p
Wife's grandma loved it (she sees a lot of movies). He said there was one other guy in the theater and sort of groaned when I asked him how it was.

Morning everyone! Only two more days of work until I'm outta here! I can make it. :D

JellyBelly is flashed. Trying to get TiB to restore stuff. It isn't playing nice.

Have you updated TiBU? The new version is JB compliant.

I have read other places that TiBU doesn't like ICS backups. At all. You're not the only one. I guess I lucked out... very few apps aren't working, and all the features are (including built-in wifi tether). Overall, very happy and likely WON'T go back to ICS.

Ever :)

Gotta admit that JB is growing on me. I've had a few problem apps, but uninstalling them and downloading new ones seem to fix the problems.

One additional benefit is I was able to finally update Google Wallet. :)
